Chapter 81 The hidden gem
Chapter 81 The hidden gem
Dravik's pov
I remember that night years ago. She was a good lay, but that’s after I found out Garrick had a thing for her. Didn’t look at her that way again ever since.
"I was just trying to make you jealous. Especially when you kept acting like you never had time for me. Then my father shipped me off to marry that pathetic old Alpha, but I never stopped dreaming about you. If I had stayed, I know we would have gotten back together, and you would have marked me instead."
I grab her hand and strip it away from my neck, moving her back a step. "That would have never happened. I have no interest in you, Cassy and I have a mate now so remove that illusion from your head.”
I push past her, striding out of the office.
"You can't just walk away from me, Dravik!" she screams, her composure shattering as her heels slap loudly against the floor. She blocks my path once again. "You can't do this to me! I betrayed my pack for you! You owe me!"
"I never asked you to do a damn thing," I snap.
What’s her problem? Shadow growls furiously. Kill her and be done with it!
"Dravik..." she moans out softly, her expression shifting into a pitiful look as her hands grab at my wrists. "Why are you being so cruel to me? You used to care for me. Let me remind you how good it felt... maybe you've just forgotten."
I feel Shadow roll his eyes, and I open my mouth to answer her but she quickly rises on her tiptoes, her hands clasping around my face with surprising strength, and she slams her mouth onto mine, shoving her body fully against mine so her breasts press firmly into my chest.
Dammit!
I grab her by the shoulders, yanking her off me but just then I catch the scent of Lavender. I look over her shoulder and see Auren and Hope stop in their tracks as they come out from the direction of the kitchen. Auren’s eyes are wide as they move from me to the panting female in front of me. I feel her anger as her hand clenches beside her. If she shifts I won’t be able to stop it and we don’t yet know what she’s capable of. She turns on her heel instead, sprinting toward the staircase. Hope shoots me a look before going up the stairs after her.
"Shit!"
Just as I was finally starting to break down her walls, just as she was finally beginning to accept that she belongs here with me.
I drop my gaze down to Cassy, and catch the triumphant smirk curving her lips. She knew. She did this purposely.
A dark rage snaps the last thread of my restraint and my hands tighten on her shoulders, my claws extending, digging into her flesh until she lets out a cry, her eyes widening in terror.
"Dravik..." she whimpers, the smirk vanishing.
"If you ever lay a hand on me again," I growl. "I will rip your throat out and feed your remains to the rogues. Do you understand me?"
"You're... you're hurting me!" she gasps out, tears pricking her eyes.
"Do you fucking understand me, Cassy?" I roar, bringing my glowing silver eyes inches from her pale face.
"Yes!" she gasps out, sobbing. "Yes, I understand!"
“And stay away from my mate.” I shove her away, turning on my heel, striding toward the stairs to fix the damage she did.
"I bet Garric won't like it when he finds out you slept with the girl he's head-over-heels in love with!" Cassy screams after me, making one last desperate attempt to assert control over the situation.
I pause at the base of the stairs, letting out a long breath as my fists clench at my sides. Looks like my plans to appease my mate will have to wait a few more minutes.
"Fine. Let's get this over with.”
I turn around, striding back to where she stands and grab her arm.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" she demands, stumbling as I drag her forcefully down the hallway toward the executive quarters.
I say nothing, ignoring her until we reach Garric’s bedroom suite. Without bothering to knock, I grab the handle, pushing the door open and it bangs against the wall.
"Dravik! What the actual fuck?!" Garric growls from the bed.
The bed is in chaos. The sheets are scattered and Garric is on it completely naked and the room reeks of sex. A telltale sign that he and Cassy had been together just minutes before she walked into my office to throw herself at me. A wave of disgust washes over me as I look at the woman in my grip. What was her grand plan? To play two brothers against each other?
"Dravik, stop it!" Cassy shrieks, desperately trying to twist her arm out of my grip, but I hold her fast, pulling her further into the center of the room.
"We slept together once," I say directly to my brother.
"What the hell are you talking about, man?" he eyes me, snatching his pants off the floor and pulling them on.
I shove Cassy forward into his line of sight. "Years ago. Before you two ever got together. One single night and I never touched her again the moment I found out you had feelings for her."
He folds his arms across his bare chest, his eyes flicking from Cassy's terrified face to mine. I see his jaw clench so hard the muscles bulge, his chest heaving as he visibly fights the urge to put his fist through something or someone "Why the fuck are you telling me this right now?"
"Thought you should know, since she just tried to use that to blackmail me. She threw herself at me in my office, begging to be my Luna, and dismissed everything you two shared as nothing more than a 'childhood crush.'"
Cassy gasps loudly, her face draining of all color. "Dravik, no!" She turns to Garrick, her hands reaching out to him. "Baby, it's not like that! He's lying!"
She tries to touch his chest, but he recoils, stepping back as his entire body shakes with a rage so intense I see his wolf, Lupus, on the surface.
"Thanks for letting me know," he says, his voice sounding hollow as he refuses to even look at her.
I nod. "Get dressed. We're marching to the Ironwood in five minutes. We're going to show those bastards what we do to traitors."
I turn on my heel.
"Dravik, wait!" Cassy screams out from behind me.
I keep walking. I can’t stand looking at her right now. She just threw our friendship down the drain. Let Garrick handle her mess. Who knows if what she said about l Ironwood is even true.
"You have a child!" she screeches.
I stop dead in my tracks, my brows furrowing. I slowly turn my head around to look at her.
"What the fuck are you talking about?! Aren’t you tired of all the lies, Cassy?" Garrick growls, glaring at her.
Cassy ignores him looking at me. "The night we were together?" she whispers. "I got pregnant, Dravik. I was already carrying your child when my father shipped me off to marry Sheamus. I gave birth to your son. Your heir."
