Chapter 51 Playing Victim

Chapter 51 Playing Victim
"Stolen goods?" Everyone in the room was stunned to hear this.

Everyone seemed to be whispering about Bryce's words, except for the Jones family, who looked pale.
As the auctioneer, Alex had to remain neutral. He knew that the Nexus Group would never steal. This necklace was indeed special and the only one of its kind in the world, but compared to the Cavendish family's treasures, it was nothing.

However, he couldn't use this fact as a defence for the Cavendish family. He had to do something to uncover the truth.

Alex immediately stepped onto the stage and asked everyone to calm down.

"Calm down, everyone. We have to find out the truth first. If this is indeed stolen property, then the Thorne family will not tolerate it and will immediately remove this jewelry for the auction! "

Alex asked his assistant to find out where the necklace came from. All items auctioned today had their origins recorded. In an instant, his assistant returned with a tablet and handed it to Alex.
Alex nodded, then turned to the host." Show it on the big screen!"

The host nodded.

Soon after, the receipt for the sale of the red heart necklace appeared, signed by Daisy Jones, along with proof of the transfer from the pawnshop to her mother, Lily's, account.

At that moment, Daisy and Lily's faces turned pale. They could deny it and say the signature was fake, but the bank account couldn't be forged. Moreover, the pawnshop belonged to the Nexus group; they couldn't forge it.

If Daisy dared to deny it, she would have to deal with the Nexus group again. So there was nothing she could do but remain silent and let the auction proceed.

"This receipt clearly shows that this necklace was sold at a pawnshop owned by the Nexus group by Mrs. Daisy Jones, so there is no indication that this is stolen goods. So I confirm that this item is legal to auction!"

Bryce immediately slumped down and couldn't say anything else. What was shown on the big screen clearly showed that the necklace was here in the right way. Meanwhile, Daisy and Lily just looked down, pale.

At that moment, Rossie shook her head, remembering everything that had happened, and then hissed. "Stupid! I am the daughter of the Cavendish family, whose life is filled with love and luxury. Even my aunt Carolina, who is my stepmother, loves me so much, but I was swept away by Bryce Johansen's charm!"

Bryce hurt her deeply, especially when he gave the gift to Lily. She had no regrets about what she had done to the necklace now. It was only fitting.

Rossie exhaled deeply, then lifted her face to look at the mirror once more. She smiled, but her hands were clenched on the sink. 'I won't be stupid this time! I don't care what Bryce thinks about his necklace being auctioned off!

Brak!

Suddenly, the bathroom door was thrown open. Rossie remained calm as she glanced coldly at the person who had entered.

Lily rushed over to Rossie and pointed at her, "Rossie, you've gone too far!"
Rossie raised her eyebrows and smiled cynically. "Is that all you can say to me, just like the past three years?"

Rossie was utterly unfazed by her words and grabbed her bag, ready to leave. The air had become stifling since Lily's arrival.

But Lily held her back, glaring at her. "You must have deliberately put that necklace up for auction. You've gone too far, Rossie!"

"I auctioned the necklace? What are you talking about? That necklace is clearly the only one in the world and Bryce gave it to you as a gift. You should be the one answering this question!" Rossie replied indifferently.

Lily was shocked to hear Rossie's answer.

"You must have persuaded Dominic Cavendish to buy the necklace and auction it here. Your methods are despicable, Rossie! Just because you couldn't make Bryce fall in love with you, you humiliated us like this! "Lily raged.

Rossie smiled slightly," I'm sure your beloved boyfriend can't prove that this necklace is stolen. If the Nexus Group can own and donate it, they must have bought it at a jewellery store or pawn shop.

You yourself must know that all items in this auction must have complete documentation and proof of legal payment," Rossie replied again, leaving Leslie speechless.

Lily really couldn't refute Rossie's words. If she did, it would be the same as admitting that she and her mother had sold the necklace.

Lily glanced at Rossie and saw her calm expression. She became even more upset and finally grabbed Rossie's wrist, pulling off the bracelet her grandmother had given her.

Rossie gasped, "What are you doing?"

Lily didn't care; she grabbed Rossie's wrist tightly. She pulled the bracelet off roughly until her long nails scratched Rossie's wrist. Lily held the bracelet tightly. She should have been the one to receive the bracelet, but her grandmother, Bryce, had given it to the woman she hated.

"Rossie, you took what was mine, you're disgusting! Since I can't have it, don't you dare think of having it either!"

Lily sneered and slammed the bracelet onto the marble floor, shattering it into tiny pieces.

"No!" Rossie screamed hysterically, her voice strained. It was Lucia's gift to her. In an instant, anger surged through her veins. Her hands clenched into fists; she wanted to beat Lily until her bones were broken.

But Lily just grinned mockingly, "So what if I destroyed your bracelet? It's just the two of us here.

If I say you hurt me here, who do you think Bryce will believe?" Still grinning, Lily picked up the broken pieces of the bracelet and slashed her pale wrist, then screamed. Rossie gasped at the sight, not expecting Lily to be so desperate.

She clearly saw the blood flowing profusely from Lily's wrist; it seemed she had cut a major artery. Even Lily herself was frightened by her actions, her expression shocked and pale. But she knew she had to play the victim.
