Chapter 207

As I walked into our cozy living room, I was greeted by the sweet sight of my husband playing with our daughter on the floor. The sunlight streamed in through the windows, casting a warm glow on their faces. My heart swelled with love and contentment as I watched them.

My husband looked up and smiled at me, his eyes shining with affection. He beckoned me over, and I sank down beside them on the soft carpet. Our daughter giggled and crawled into my lap, snuggling close to me. I wrapped my arms around her, breathing in the scent of her baby shampoo.

We spent the next few minutes just enjoying each other's company, talking and laughing as a family. My husband leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips, and I felt a warm rush of love wash over me. It was moments like these that made me feel so grateful for our little family.

As the afternoon wore on, we decided to bake some cookies together. My husband and I took turns helping our daughter stir the ingredients, and she clapped her little hands in delight as we added the chocolate chips. The scent of fresh-baked cookies filled the air, and we all took turns sneaking bites of the dough.

Finally, the cookies were ready, and we all sat down at the kitchen table to enjoy them together. As we savored each delicious bite, I looked around at my two favorite people in the world and felt overwhelmed with love and gratitude.

This was our domestic bliss, the simple moments of joy and togetherness that made life worth living. And I knew, as long as we had each other, we would always find happiness and contentment in the little things.

That night, after we put Isla to bed, Julian and I decided to go out to get dinner. I sat across from my husband at our favorite restaurant, my heart beating a little faster as I looked into their eyes. We had been together for so long now, but I still felt a thrill of excitement every time we went out on a date. My husband. I loved saying that.

"You look beautiful tonight," he said, reaching across the table to take my hand.

I felt shy and smiled, my cheeks flushing red with pleasure. "Thank you. You look pretty handsome yourself."

We spent the next few minutes chatting about our day, sharing little anecdotes and jokes. But as our meal arrived, the conversation turned more serious.

"I wanted to talk to you about something," I said, taking a deep breath. "I've been thinking a lot about our future, and I know we've talked about it before, but I just wanted to make sure we're on the same page."

My partner's expression turned serious as they looked at me. "Of course. What's on your mind?"

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you," I said, my voice quiet but firm. "We are married, have a family, and we are gonna grow old together. I know it's a big decision, but I just wanted to know if you feel the same way. I want to try for another baby."

Julian’s eyes widened, and they took a deep breath. "Yes," he said softly. "Yes, I want that too. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I think it’s the right time. I want to grow our family, together, whatever that looks like. We’re both at a good place in our life and Isla has grown up a little. Its time, no?"

Relief flooded through me, and I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. "Thank you," I said, squeezing his hand. "That means everything to me."

We spent the rest of the evening talking about our hopes and dreams, sharing our fears and insecurities. We talked about the kind of family we wanted to build, the kind of life we wanted to lead.

And as we walked hand in hand out of the restaurant, I felt more in love with him than ever before. We had been through so much together, and yet we were still growing and evolving, still learning from each other every day.

I knew that life would throw us curveballs, that we would face challenges and obstacles along the way. But I also knew that we were in this together, that we would face whatever came our way with love and resilience.

As we climbed into the car and drove off into the night, I felt a sense of peace settle over me. No matter what the future held, I knew that we were in it together, and that was all that mattered.

Back at home, Julian led me into the bedroom, and kissed me languidly. He kissed me like his life depended on it. He always kissed me like that. Like I was his everything. It must be true, because he was mine.

“I love you,” he whispered against my lips. And I closed my eyes and thanked my stars.
