Chapter 119 Marry A White Girl

Chapter 119 Marry A White Girl
MIA

I looked at the door as the knock came again. I looked at the alarm clock on the nightstand.

It is past seven am.

Who could that be this early?

A movement from Kai caught my attention.

He turned his head to the other side, still asleep.

The knock came again.

I shifted away from him and got out of bed.

I covered my robe together as I walked towards the door.

I reached for the doorknob and opened the door, revealing his mom.

My heart picked up instantly.

I swallowed as I stared at her.

"Um...Good morning, ma'am."

She didn't respond but stared at me from head to toe in a disgusted way.

I held my robe tightly as I lowered my gaze.

"Where is my son?" she asked, making me look at her.

"He is...."

"Shawty?" Kai called, taking my attention.

But she pushed past me slightly, making me take imbalanced steps back.

"Mama, what the fuck?" Kai asked as I closed the door.

"We need to talk." I heard her say as I looked at them.

Kai is seated and she is standing at the edge of the bed, staring at him.

She is dressed like she is about to go somewhere or something.

"Talk about what? It is fucking early." Kai said.

"So?" she asked as I walked towards my side of the bed.

Kai heaved a sigh, rubbing his temples.

"You,"

I looked at her.

She is looking at me.

"Step the fuck out. I wanna speak to my son alone," she ordered, making my heart clench.

"Mama."

"What?" she snapped.

"Don't talk to my fiancé like that," Kai said, making her scoff.

"Fiance? Her?" she asked, staring at me with that disgusted look.

I lowered my gaze, gripping my robe tightly.

"Yes, her. You got a problem with that?" Kai asked.

"Yes, boy. I do."

I looked at her.

"What makes you think I would let you marry a fucking white girl, huh?"

I felt tears coming.

"Like you have a fucking say in ma fucking life." he snapped, making me look at him.

He is staring at her.

She scoffed in disbelief.

"I am your mother, boy."

"I got ma fucking memory, mama. And that's the last reason for you to dictate ma fucking life."

"What?"

"I'm a fucking grown man and I choose for myself. Got it?"

My heart fluttered slightly as I stared at him.

"I haven't introduced you both properly," he said. He moved his eyes to me.

I smiled slightly.

"Come here, girl."

I walked around the bed, past her, and headed towards him.

He held my hand.

"This is Mia Jefferson, ma gorgeous fiancée," he said, kissing my knuckle.

My heart fluttered again.

"Shawty, this is ma mama," he said, making me look at her.

She is scowling at me, killing my smile.

"Mrs Candace Kincaid," Kai said.

She is still scowling at me.

I lowered my gaze.

"Say hello, baby." Kai urged.

I swallowed slightly, looking at her.

"It is nice to meet you, ma'am."

She averted her eyes from me.

"Tell her to leave so we can talk," she said.

God, she really hates me.

"Seriously, mama, what the fuck is with you?"

I gripped my robe.

"How much is it gonna take you to respond to her fucking greeting, huh?" he asked.

"Watch your tone with me, boy. Tell her to leave right now."

"No."

"Nathaniel!"

"She ain't going nowhere."

"It's okay," I said, making him look at me.

I nodded.

"Shawty,"

"I should go check on the kids," I said, placing my hand on his that is holding my other hand.

He kept staring at me.

I withdrew my hands from him and headed for the door without sparing his mom a look.

I opened the door and walked out. I closed the door behind me and let out a sigh, closing my eyes as my heart tightened slightly.

Opening my eyes, I took steps towards my right but......

"Kicked out, huh?" Imani asked, standing in front of me and stopping me in my tracks.

God, just this morning? Really?

She smirked, staring at me from head to toe just like Kai's mother did.

I looked away, brushing my hair back.

"You thought you would stay in there with my brother forever, didn't you?" she asked.

I looked at her.

She shook her head, clicking her tongue.

"Fucking pitiful."

I moved to walk past her but she blocked my way instantly.

"Relax, girl."

I let out a sigh, looking away.

"Where is the fire?"

I looked at her.

She is smirking.

"Get out of my way."

She raised a brow. "Hmm toughen up, huh?"

I stared at her.

"Just a few seconds. I wanna tell you something."

I kept staring at her.

"Remember when you told me you would make an exception to the other girls my brother tossed away? And I told you I will make you eat your words?"

That day filled my mind.

She tilted her head to the side, smirking like the witch that she is.

"Well, that's what I am gonna do. So get ready to feed your words, girl. Cause it is happening very soon."

"You can't do anything, Imani," I said.

She raised her brows.

"If you had said this to me sometime ago, I would be shaking. But now. You don't scare me anymore."

"Oh really?"

"Yes."

"I doubt that."

"Well, keep doubting," I said, walking past her.

"Don't underestimate me, bitch. You're gonna hate yourself." I heard her say as I walked.

"You hear me, bitch?"

I kept walking till I got to my former room.

I walked into it and I saw Coco standing close to the crib with Jay Jay in her arms.

"Mia!" Vicky called, running towards me. She is still in her pajamas and so is Jay Jay.

I smiled as she wrapped her hands around me.

I chuckled, going down on my knees and wrapping her in a hug.

"Hey, Vicky," I said, releasing her.

"Good morning, Mia." she greeted, smiling brightly.

"Good morning, little sister. Did you sleep well?" I asked, caressing her hair.

She nodded.

"Really?"

"Yes. Jay Jay too," she said, making me look at Jay Jay as Coco walked towards us.

I got on my feet.

Jay Jay held out his tiny hands towards me as he made sounds.

Coco and I chuckled.

I reached and took him from Coco's arms.

"Hey, bestie."

He reached for my hair as expected, making his meaningless talk.

"Good morning to you too," I said, kissing his temples.

"So.....how was the party?" Coco asked, making me look at her.

"Short-lived."

"Really?"

I nodded, moving towards the sofa as Vicky ran towards her toys. I sat on the sofa and placed Jay Jay on my lap.

Coco sat next to me.

"Imani is back," she said, making me look at her.

"I know."

She shook her head.

"God, why? I thought she was out forever. Why did she come back?"

I shrugged. "That's not even the problem."

"What is?" She asked.

"She came back with Big Kai's mother."

She furrowed her brows but her face twitched instantly.

"Wait, you mean the beautiful woman I saw earlier today is his....." she paused.

I nodded.

"Geez."

"And it happens that she loves Imani so much and hates me," I said.

Her shoulders fell.

"You can't be sure about the latter."

I scoffed slightly. "You weren't there to see the way she looked at me. With so much hate and disgust."

She stared at me.

I let out a sigh, staring ahead as the way she looked my me filled my head.

"Big Kai assured me that Imani will leave today."

"Really? That is good."

I shook my head, looking at her.

"It is not?" She asked.

"I doubt that."

She furrowed her brows.

"His mother won't allow him. I have a feeling she won't."

"But what if she hears about what Imani did, she would let the boss kick Imani out, right?"

I shook my head. "It is not that simple, Coco."

"What do you mean?"

"Big Kai said something about his mom acting like she owes Imani. He told me about how he is related to Imani. Imani's dad helped them in their time of need. His mom feels indebted to Imani so I believe she is never going to let him kick her out."

"God, this is getting more frustrating," Coco said.

"You don't know how much."

"What are you going to do now?" she asked.

I shrugged, staring at Vicky as she fixed her toy blocks.

"I just have to live with them around," I said.

"It is going to be hard."

I nodded. "I know."

"Hey, I got an idea."

I looked at her.

"Why don't you make his mom like you?"

I quirked my brows.

"How am I going to do that?"

"You want her to like you, right?"

I shrugged slightly. "I would like that."

"Good. You have to do something that will make her like you," she said.

"What should I do?"

"Firstly, you need to ask the boss what his mother likes most. Let's start from there," she said, smiling as I processed her idea.

"No, that will be the second thing. The first thing you will do is give her compliments. Tell her she is gorgeous or you like her dress and makeup. Things like that."

"You think that will work?"

She shrugged. "With time, yeah."

I heaved a sigh. "I don't know, Coco."

"Hey, come on. She is a woman like you. Women like it most when their fellow women compliment them. Just do it." She urged.

"Okay. I will give it a try."

"That's the spirit. We need to get you guys ready for breakfast."

"Yeah."

"Come on, Vicky. Morning hygiene," she said, getting on her feet and walking towards Vicky.

I stared at them as Vicky took Coco's hand and they headed towards the bathroom.

I looked at Jay Jay.

He is still fiddling with my hair.

I smiled at him.

"Have you met your grandma yet?"

He made meaningless talk.

"No?"

He kept talking.

"You might meet her at breakfast."

He continued talking.

"Sure."

AT THE DINING TABLE

Done fixing Jay Jay on his seat, I walked towards mine which is next to Big Kai who is seated in his head seat.

I sat on the seat,  he took my hand and placed a kiss on my knuckles.

I smiled as the maids served us food.

It is just me, the kids and Big Kai seated here. Caleb, Imani, and Kai's mom are not here.

I wonder if they will......

The clicking of heels caught my attention on the stairs.

Imani and Kai's mom are descending the stairs.

My heart picked up instantly.

I picked up my cutlery, calming my nerves as they approached.

We are having pancakes, blueberries, strawberries, eggs, and oatmeal.

The food is mouthwatering.

Vicky and Jay Jay must be happy.

Jay Jay is the oatmeal, actually.

"Eating without your real family?" Kai's mom asked as they approached closer to the table.

"Mama, don't fucking start," Kai warned.

She took a seat opposite me and next to him.

I got a glance at her, locking eyes with her instantly as Imani sat next to her.

I lowered my gaze but Jay Jay began his meaningless talks, taking my attention.

I picked up his water and began feeding it to him.

"So, this is the famous Hispanic offspring of yours?" she asked.

I froze.

"His name is Lil Kai Jay Jay Kincaid," Kai said, making me look at him.

He is sipping his drink.

My heart fluttered at the name he called Jay Jay.

Imani scoffed. "Jay Jay? Seriously?"

"Shut your bitch ass face up." Kai snapped.

"That's enough." his mother shunned.

"If she speaks again, mama. I'mma shove this fork down her throat." Kai warned, making his mom let out a scoff of disbelief.

Imani rolled her eyes, picking up her fork.

Someone caught my eye ahead.
