Harley~
After that, the truck goes silent, and I roll my window down and ride the air. My fingers spread, and the wind runs through them as a wild lavender breeze fills the passenger compartment.
If only a pleasant breeze and a picture-perfect day could bring Nick's family back together again. Right now, I don't have a clue how to do it. Nick is a million miles away as I look over at him.
I'm surprised by the jealousy that fills me at the thought that he's thinking about her. We've indeed both had lovers, though mine wasn't so close to home.
"Wolfman, whatcha thinking about so hard over there?"
One of his hands squeezes the wheel, and the other one, my hand beneath his. "You know, all of this is happening because of you?"
Is that a good thing? He won't look at me, so I can't tell. "Do I want the credit?" He glances at me. "We can find another doctor if that's what you want."
"Then I would be the coward who can't own up to his mistakes. And it's too late for that. Ruby is eager to meet you."
Uh-oh, he knows I was eavesdropping. "Did Ponzie rat you out?"
He looked over at me this time with a wide smile. "No, I called her. It felt good to tell her she was gonna be a Gigi, and I have you to thank for that."
"You never intended to see your parents again before you met me?!"
"Before I met you, I didn't have a plan, and was just fine without putting much thought into forming one."
Nick takes the exit back to LA. "It took a lot of courage to make that call, Nick."
He chuckled, "Naw, Ruby is a pushover; it will take courage to face my father and brother. Without you by my side, it wouldn't be happening."
We find the streets of LA to be just as we left them. Nick navigates us through the heavy traffic, and soon enough, we are back at the gates of Mountainview.
Inside the community is as active as I've seen it so far. The afternoon had many families outside enjoying the weather. Two young children, likely siblings and both under six, caught my eye.
The boy squirted the girl, and she squealed, which made me smile. "Do you see us having more children?"
We pull up the drive and into the garage. "You can have as many as you like; I'm game." He gave me a cocky grin before getting out of the car.
Kylie wrapped herself around my legs before we could get in the side door. "Aunt Harley, you're back!"
"Yes," I placed my hands on her back. "Did you miss me?"
"You better believe it, Baki Jose."
Kyle comes out the door behind her, and I look at him with a tilt of my head. "Baki Jose?"
He chuckled, "It's the word of the day, sis."
"Ok, well, I missed you too, Baki Jose."
We get inside just as Sofie is preparing the dining room for dinner, and she shoos us into the sunroom. It's an amazing view, and I'm drawn to the glass wall.
At this angle, through the glass, it looks as though the moon is melting into the trees. Behind it, a panoramic sky of burgundies and burnt golds merges.
Nick comes up behind me, kisses my face, and we settle into a lounger. Kyle and Becky settle on the matching lounger while Kylie goes for the ball. "Did you have a good time?" Becky asked.
"Yes, the lake is beautiful. Nick is going to build us a house there beside his parents."
"What a wonderful idea!"
That got Kyle's attention, and I'm now wondering what he knows. He raised his eyebrows at Nick, "How is Alpha Titus these days?"
Nick's jaw tightened. "Same as he ever was, I'm sure."
Sofie's voice cut through the low hum of the now-silent room. Her invitation to dinner feels like the walk I used to take into the interrogation room with a suspect. Nope, not tonight!
"I'm spent from the trip, Sofie." I catch Nick's eye, and my voice comes out sounding a pitch thinner. "Could you have something light sent up?"
Nick is already getting to his feet, his boots scuffing faintly on the floor under his weight. He reaches for my hand; his palm is warm, and anchors me as he pulls me up. 'Thank you.'
The moment the bedroom door meets the frame, the world fades. With the metal slide of the lock, anticipation vibrates through me to the soles of my feet as if I needed a punctuation mark to our privacy.
A flush creeps up my neck, prickling into heat that settles in my cheekbones as his eyes settle on me. His arms wind around my waist, pulling me flush against the warmth of his chest.
"There are other ways to find satisfaction tonight," he murmurs against the shell of my ear; his breath feels like a caress.
"Maybe," I breathed, my fingers knotting into his sleeve. "But none of them end with you being buried inside me."
Nick steps back, sits on the bed, and settles me on his lap. He lifts the sundress over my head and tosses it to the floor. "This will have to do for now."
His mouth left mine, leaving a lingering trail of heat as he traced a slow, searing path to his spot. He licked my collarbone before drifting upward to ghost against the shell of my ear, his breath hitching in time with my own.
My voice is a low, jagged sound broken from my throat as I arched my breasts against the hard line of his chest. With a deft, practiced flick of his fingers, the tension of my bra gave way.
The air hit my nipples, cool and sharp, but Nick replaced the warmth with the focus of his mouth. He drew my milk from me with a rhythmic pull, while his hand found the slick heat between my thighs.
His circling thumb sent small electrical volts to my core as I pulled back just enough to lie down on the bed. His voice is a low command as he guided my ass into place above his face.
My face settled in the cradle of his lap, where I'm met with a salt-sweet scent and the massive, pulsing length of him inches from my lips. With a mmmmm, I suck the nectar coming from his head. Then slide him as deep as I can into the heat of my mouth.
