Chapter 35

King Anold’s POV: Part 2

It was Aria, and Mason as they stood outside our room. That threatening aura was coming from Aria. The next instant, she was standing in our room with Mason. Mason and Aria were talking about something through the mind link. Martha told me that she was asking Mason if she should take her uncles under command and he had said yes. Is that so? I will stop her from doing that. They are right out of the room.

“Stop Aria, don’t put them under the command, I told her.”

“Dad, why don’t you want to let me take him and his cousin under command? She inquired.”

“I want to know why he has been doing all this. I know he was against our relationship from the start, but Martha and I have been destined mates. No one could change that. I answered her.”

“Sure, I won’t take him under command. But if it comes to misbehaving, I won’t think twice about it. She told me firmly.”

She was finally allowing them to enter the room. They were relieved for a moment as they got into the room, only to be surprised to find Mason and Aria standing beside us.

"Arthur, Evan I want to speak with you. I told them in an authoritative tone."

I was thinking about what questions I should ask them. As there were a lot of questions that needed to be answered. Martha decided to stay silent as she didn't want to interfere with us. After thinking things through I decided to ask him why he was against Martha and my relationship.

"Arthur tell me why are you against Martha and my relationship. Why did you keep us in prison for almost 18 years, and want to kill our daughter in front of us? Why are you doing this? I asked him. "

Arthur got silent for a few minutes before answering my question.

"I already hated that you would be the king after Dad, and later found out your mate was a vampire. She soiled our pure werewolf bloodline and was about to give birth to a hybrid. I didn't want that to happen."

"Evan, and I did various things to kill your mate, but she was sharp and never fell for any trick. She even gave birth to a daughter, who might have werewolf and vampire powers. Our last resort was to kidnap you and kill your daughter to achieve the kingdom."

"That day you were going to a meeting with the vampire kingdom, and you didn't take any guards with you as well. We took it as a chance to hold you as a captive, we were going to find your daughter and kill you all. We were not able to find her because she was missing. We waited for years until she showed her form to hold her captive. Our plans failed as she turned out to be more powerful than us."

“She even managed to rescue you all and end the war we lost the chance to attain our goals. We have always wanted a full werewolf kingdom. I have been disgusted with the thought of our people having another mate than a werewolf. They were creating half-blood creatures, half-humans, half-werewolves, or vampires. I even went far enough to keep the children in prison and break their families apart.”

“Even then, my son’s mate turned out to be a human, if I had known sooner I would have prohibited them from meeting each other and married him off to a pure-blood werewolf. He is a shame to my family. Arthur spoke venom dripping from his words.”

I decided to let him speak everything he was thinking about first. His speech upset me to a great extent. How could he say his son is a shame to his family just because his mate is human? How could he despise him just because of that? Was it not enough for him to just hate my family? I don’t like how he looks down on all the other species other than werewolves. He despised them not knowing about them very well.

He had always hated things that were not in his favour since he was a child. Never thought it would grow to such an extent. I decided to speak with him about what he just said. I don’t know if he would listen to me, I will just try to reason with him for now. I want him to know what mistakes he is making.

“Arthur, Evan while thinking about all this have you ever cared for the people you call your family? Have you ever thought how they might have felt about your actions? I enquired.”

“I don’t have to think about them, they are old enough to take care of themselves. Why do I need even to care, that’s my wife’s duty. While we are busy ruling the kingdom. Arthur confessed.”

His mindset about people, especially women wasn’t good. Not everything is a mother’s responsibility, it is the father's duty to spend time with his family and take care of them as well. How did he become so irresponsible as a person? His son couldn’t even speak with him as a father, he was afraid to let him know that he found his mate due to his behaviour.

“It isn’t just your wife’s duty to raise children, you both have equally important parts to play. Due to your mindset, your son couldn’t tell you that he has found his mate. Are you telling me that he is a shame to the family? What you have done is more shameful. You broke families apart, that isn’t a good thing.”

“You are making them suffer a lifetime’s worth of pain all these years. Don’t you have a heart? How can you be so selfish and let everyone including your own family suffer while you rule? Rulers are there to maintain peace, you have been quite the opposite. We are supposed to care not hurt. You are a disgrace to all the Kings and Alphas. I pointed out.”

“I don’t have to care about anyone else. I am the king and I can do whatever I want to in my kingdom. Arthur declared.”

“You don’t have any right to do that to your people. You aren’t fit to be the King of this “Werewolf Kingdom” if you don’t respect your subjects.”

“The people of our kingdom don’t like how you rule, they have no other choice than to obey you. You have spread hatred instead of love. That is the very reason for your downfall. Whatever you sow you reap. I acknowledged dejectedly.”

“I don’t care about anything else, I am good with whatever rules I have set for the kingdom. Arthur retorted.”

My face fell hearing his thoughts. It was very shocking to know what he thought about his family and subjects. Arthur answered all the questions while Evan was silent. Martha, Aria, and Mason were being considerate by not interfering with us. Now I could tell that he despised us with passion just because of wanting a pure bloodline. He divided people and separated them by species. I am glad others told me what has been going on all those years. I wanted to ask him one last question.

“What are you here for right now Arthur, Evan? I enquired.”

“We just wanted to take you down before you both recover. You and your wife are a pain to deal with when you are in full health. Now you even have a daughter who would fight beside you. I wanted to get you before she interfered. But we are already found in our act. Arthur revealed.”

He has downgraded himself just to obtain the kingdom. He just wanted to kill our family as he has been mentioning. I knew that he hated us but, hearing it directly from him made us cringe. Martha didn’t know what to say after hearing all this. Aria wasn’t surprised as much as us. She might have heard this from him a few times now.

Aria and Mason gave us all the time we needed to think this through. Silence filled the room as no one spoke, the air became thick and filled with the tension so much that it was suffocating.

“What should we do now Martha? I don’t understand what should I say to him anymore after what he said. Our parents never treated us differently why did he become like this? I am ashamed of his deeds, how could he do this to innocent families and children? Many people have suffered during his rule, he couldn’t even spare his own family. I spoke my mind to her through our link.”

“Nothing you say isn’t going to change him, Arnold. Arthur, and Evan both should be punished for the bad deeds they have done during the period of 18 years. I suggest you do that by taking back your rightful place as the King of the “Werewolf Kingdom”. You have to allow the people to be back with their families so they can live happily. You have to make it right for our subjects, they need you back. Martha insisted.”

“You are right, I have to bring back peace in our kingdom. I need to do it for our people. I need to get back to work again. Our kingdom needs me, we have to allow people from “Shifter and Vampire kingdoms” to enter our territory once again. Unnecessary restrictions should be removed as well, and children should be out of prison. I told her.”

For a moment I had forgotten that Arthur and Evan were still here in front of us. I decided to leave the decision of who they wanted as a King to the people of our kingdom. But now was not the time to ask that, we could call them and make the decision in the morning. Martha was in agreement with me.

Being done with our conversation, I turned my attention to Aria and Mason who were standing beside us.

“Aria, put them under command and inside custody till the morning. We will meet the people of our kingdom and let them decide which one of us should be their king. I concluded.”

“Sure father, Aria said immediately taking them under her command.”

Mason had already called Ethan and a few soldiers to the room. Arthur and Evan looked at us furiously as they were handcuffed and taken away by Ethan and the soldiers.
