Let's go
Let's go
DYLAN’S POINT OF VIEW
By the time we got closer to the outskirts of town, the world had already started to feel different,Quieter,Slower.Like it was gently letting go of us the further we drove.
Violet was still by the window, her face turned slightly toward the glass, watching trees replace buildings, watching roads become narrower, watching life fade into something softer.
I could feel her curiosity, even in her silence But she still didn’t push me.That was something about her I didn’t say enough. She didn’t force answers… she waited for them And somehow… that made me want to give them to her more.
We turned off the main road eventually,The path narrowed, surrounded by tall green trees that swayed lightly as we passed. The air itself felt different here......Cleaner,Almost untouched and Finally the river came into view......Still......Wide.
Perfectly calm......like someone had painted the sky onto water and told it not to move.
I parked.......And for a second… I didn’t move.Neither did she.
“…wow.”Just that........But it was enough.
Because it wasn’t loud amazement It was soft.Like she didn’t want to disturb the place. She stepped out slowly and I followed. The moment her feet touched the ground, she looked around again......slower this time.Like she wasn’t just seeing it…She was feeling it,The breeze moved gently through the trees,Birds chirped softly somewhere deeper in the woods........The water barely moved......It was quiet,The kind of quiet you don’t want to break.
“This is unreal,” she whispered and I leaned back against the car for a moment, watching her instead of the lake.
“It’s better when it’s quiet,” I said and She turned to me slightly.
“You really come here alone?”I nodded.
“Most of the time.”A pause.Then.......
“So… why did you bring me here?” she asked softly and I pushed myself off the car, walking past her slowly toward the water. She followed......Of course she did.
“I don’t know,” I admitted honestly,Then I glanced at her.
“You’re the first person I’ve brought here.”She stopped....Just a little.
“Really?” she asked......I nodded.
“Zayn doesn’t know this place. Neither does Johnson… or Brian.”That did something to her,I saw it,The way her expression shifted slightly.....Softer......Brighter.
“Wow…........” she murmured again. We started walking along the edge of the river, Slow steps,No rush,Just… existing in the moment. For a while, we didn’t say anything,We didn’t need to,The birds filled the silence,The water carried the rest......
"It's so damn peaceful"She muttered and I nodded.
"Yeah.......really peaceful"I muttered and Then suddenly.........I pulled my shirt over my head.
“What are you doing?” Violet’s voice came quickly, startled.I smirked slightly, already kicking off my shoes.
“What does it look like I'm doing???”Her eyes widened.
“Dylan.......”Before she could finish......I ran forward......And jumped,Splash........The cold water hit instantly, but it didn’t matter......I surfaced with a breath, pushing my hair back as I looked toward the shore.
She was standing there, frozen.
“Are you insane?!” she called out.......I laughed.
“Probably.”Then I tilted my head.
“Come on.”She crossed her arms immediately.
“No.”
“Violet,” I called, swimming backward slightly.
“It’s not even that cold.”i said and she huffed loudly.
“That is a lie,” she shot back and I grinned.
“Okay, maybe a little.”She shook her head, laughing under her breath. But she didn’t leaveInstead… she hesitated Then slowly......
She reached for the hem of her top and I watched Carefully......Not saying anything now.She pulled it off quickly......Turning away almost immediately.
“Don’t look.”she whispered and I chuckled.
“Too late.”
“Dylan!”
I laughed again, turning slightly just to tease her.But I respected it.A second later......Another splash. She came up gasping slightly.
“Oh my God.......it’s freezing!”
“Told you,” I said, still smiling.
She splashed water at me immediately.
“You said it wasn’t!”
I laughed as it hit my face.
“Okay, okay.....that one’s on me.”We swam around for a while.No pressure,No heavy thoughts.....Just laughter,Water......Freedom.
At some point, she drifted closer,Not on purpose,It just… happened.
Her hair clung slightly to her face.
Her eyes met mine. And for a second.........
Everything slowed.
“You’re crazy,” she said softly.
“You still came in.”i said and She rolled her eyes slightly. But she didn’t move away.Neither did I......And then......Without overthinking it....I leaned in and kissed The kiss was different this time....Cool.....Soft......Unhurried.......Like the world wasn’t watching,Like nothing else existed. When we pulled back, she stayed close.....Still and Quiet.
“That was your idea of bringing me somewhere peaceful?” she teased softly,I smirked.
“Worked, didn’t it?”She shook her head, smiling,But she didn’t disagree.
Eventually, we got out after some minutes,The air felt colder now against wet skin and I noticed that She shivered slightly.
“Okay… yeah, now I regret everything,” she muttered and I laughed, grabbing my shirt and handing it to her.
“Here.”She hesitated but Then took it.
“Thanks.”We got dressed again slowly.....No rush,After that, we started walking again,Further this time.Exploring the edges of the place,Talking about random things.
Laughing,Sometimes quiet again.......we had so much fun and Time passed without us noticing. The sun had started to shift,The light softer now.......Golden.
“I don’t want to leave yet,” she admitted quietly and I glanced at her.
“…we don’t have to rush.”i whispered back and She smiled at that.We kept walking,Further...Deeper into the quiet...Then.........A low rumble echoed in the distance and we both freezed.
“…did you hear that?”I looked up,The sky had changed.......Clouds slowly gathering.
“…yeah.”Another rumble, it was Louder this time and She looked at me.......Eyes slightly wide now.
“Dylan…”A drop of water hit the ground between us,Then another.
“…it’s going to rain.”She said and I exhaled slowly, glancing around. The trees swayed a little stronger now.
The first drop hit the ground between us,Then another.....Then.....The sky opened.
“Dylan.......”Rain came down fast. Not soft. Not gentle.....Heavy and Cold. Geez, why didn't we notice this sooner.
“Come on,” I said quickly, reaching for her hand again,This time she didn’t hesitate.
We ran Back toward the car, our steps uneven against the damp ground, laughter mixing with the sudden chaos of the storm.
“This is your fault!” she shouted over the rain.
“My fault?” I shot back, breathless.
“You were the one enjoying the weather!”
“I didn’t sign up for this!”I laughed, pulling her along as we reached the car.We both stopped just outside it, breathing hard,Soaked.....Completely soaked.
For a second.......We just looked at each other,Her hair was wet now, strands sticking lightly to her face,Drops of water traced down her neck.......Her chest rose and fell as she caught her breath.
And something about that moment......Something about her....Made everything else fade,The rain kept falling.
Harder.......Louder.....But I didn’t hear it anymore.
“You’re staring again,” she said softly.
But this time........Her voice didn’t have the same teasing edge,It was quieter.....Closer.
“Can you blame me?” I murmured,She didn’t roll her eyes this time......Didn’t look away.
Instead,She stepped closer.My breath caught.
“Dylan…” she whispered,I don’t know who moved first....I don’t think it mattered,One second we were standing there.....The next.....She was in my arms,And I kissed her.
The rain soaked through everything. My hair,Her clothes,Our skin. But the kiss......The kiss was warm,Not rushed,Not uncertain. It was deeper than the one at her house.
Stronger.Like something had shifted between us without either of us saying it out loud. Her hands slid up, gripping lightly at my shoulders.
Mine rested at her waist, pulling her closer without thinking,The world blurred......The storm didn’t matter,The cold didn’t matter.
Just her,When we finally pulled back, it wasn’t far....Our foreheads stayed close.
Breathing the same air.
“You’re insane,” she whispered But her lips curved slightly.
“You kissed me back.”She let out a soft breath.
“That doesn’t make you less insane.”I smiled faintly.
“…fair.”Another loud rumble of thunder echoed.....Closer this time,Reality snapped back.
“Okay....yeah.....we should get in the car,” she said quickly, shivering slightly now and I nodded, unlocking it.
“Yeah.”We both got in, slamming the doors shut behind us as the rain continued to hit hard against the windows,For a moment.......
Silence,Just the sound of rain,Our breathing.
The tension still lingering in the air between us.She leaned back in her seat, exhaling.
“That was…”She paused.
“…unexpected.”I glanced at her.
“…in a bad way?”She turned her head toward me And smiled.
“In a very good way."Yeah,That didn’t help my heart rate at all.I looked away quickly, starting the engine.Or trying to but The car responded, it didn’t move and I frowned slightly and Tried again.......The tires spun.
“…wait.”I pressed the accelerator again.
Nothing and My jaw tightened.
“…Dylan?” she said slowly,I exhaled, leaning back slightly.
“…we might have a small problem."I said and she stared at me.
“…define small.”
“…we’re stuck.”Silence.....Then....
“You’re joking.”
“I wish I was.”
She let her head fall back against the seat.
“Oh my God…”Rain kept hitting the windows,Harder now,Louder.Like the world outside was closing in.Then suddenly......She sat up.
“Wait.”I followed her gaze.Through the rain,Through the trees,A faint light.
“…do you see that?” she asked.
I squinted slightly.
“…yeah.”Her voice softened.
“Is that… a house?”Another thunder roll echoed,Closer......She turned to me again, this time without teasing.Without playfulness.
“Dylan… I’m cold......Can we go check it out???”And that was all it took.....I grabbed the keys.
“…okay....... come on Let’s go.”We stepped out into the rain again.But this time......It wasn’t playful,It was something else......Something heavier,Her hand found mine instantly.....And I didn’t let go.
