The Kiss

The Kiss
“The late princess was a happy bright soul,” he hummed. “Too bright for my dark world. In her next life, I do hope she doesn’t become a royal. Maybe then… I wouldn’t have to ruin her.”

Inside the late princess’s room, both men stared at the portrait of the princess, their hands crossing behind their backs. Having had enough, the crown prince tore his gaze from the portrait and returned his attention to the man beside him.

“Do not tell me you are a man of feelings, Lord Valric. She was my sister, yet I do not

even think so far.”

“I am not. It is just that my estate now feels too lifeless.”

“Perhaps you need some good glass of female human blood? We’re vampires, everything about us is lifeless. You shouldn’t be expecting life in a place that has been lifeless from the very beginning.”

“You’re right.”

“We must return to the party now. Everything is set. It would be suspicious if we weren’t a part.”

“Absolutely. After this is done, I’ll make an order to get the princess’s things out of this room. It burdens me.”

Both men turned away from the portrait and began to make their way out of the room, but as soon as the Prime Minister reached the door, he paused, his eyes fixed on a particular spot on the floor.

“Lord Valeic. Is there something keeping you?” Lucian called.

“Is that a footprint I see?”

Lucian stepped to him. “I see nothing.”

“Look more closely.”

He walked closer to the spot Valric’s dark gaze was fixated on, but still, he couldn’t find anything. “There is nothing. Maybe you are mistaken?”

“You are a weaker vampire compared to me.”

At the mention of his weakness, the Crown Prince clamped his mouth shut and stepped backward. It was a known fact that the Prime Minister was one of the oldest and strongest vampires existing. In fact, he was as strong as the halfblood, Rafael, and for a reason, Lucian believed the Prime Minister was the strongest vampire existing. Perhaps he could be right?

“Someone was here.” Valric turned and began to walk back into the room. “Someone was here,” he repeated, glancing around until his eyes fell on the bathroom door.

Inside the bathroom, Rafael’s hand was wrapped around Elora’s mouth. With each step that the prime minister took closer to the bathroom, his eyes darkened and his hold on her mouth tightened.

Her body trembled.

Her insides quivered and her eyes began to water. She knew one thing. The prime minister was a dangerous man. He would hurt her.

His footsteps were heavy and slow, each carrying the weight of a hammer on the floor. Rafael's gaze softened as they fell on her, as if trying to ask her to be calm.

Elora’s body stiffened when the man outside placed a hand on the door’s handle.

She let out a hiccup that was swallowed by Rafael’s palm.

‘Be calm,’ he mouthed, pushing closer to her, backing her against the wall behind the door.

She let out another hiccup as her breathing increased. She’d tried to stabilize it but it just wouldn’t work.

She gazed up at him for help and just as the door pried open and she was about to cry out in fear, he took his hands off her and instantly replaced them with his mouth.

Elora froze.

Cold lips. Firm. Unmoving.

“You were right,” Valric’s voice rang out. “No one’s here. We should leave.”

He closed the door with a bang and together with the prince, they exited the room.

For a moment, they didn’t move. They didn’t look away. It was as if their eyes had locked each other’s in.

Even after their lips finally parted, his eyes remained glued on hers. Elora’s heart thumped loudly in her chest.

Her heart grew wilder when he slowly traced his fingers over her neck.

“You have pretty eyes, princess,” he breathed, his thumb running over her lips. “Beautiful lips.”

“Ra-Rafael.”

“Goddamn it.”

Without another word, his lips suddenly collided against hers again.

Harder this time, possessing her entire mouth.

It was anything but slow.

Possessive! Dominating!

Dearest gentle reader,

Firstly, old readers, I owe you the biggest apology. I plead that you forgive me for disappearing on you like that. Law school has been quite demanding, not updating for so long is probably unjustified, and for that, I’m really sorry. I hope that you continue this journey with me.

I have greatly missed this story way more than you can imagine. Elora and Rafael still hold a special space in my heart. The characters in this book have healed a lot in me. I regret staying away from it for so long, also unconfident that my readers would stay.

Secondly, for old readers, I understand the story might be a bit blurry now. I suggest that you skim through the previous chapters to refresh. Also, if you want me to do a short recap chapter, I’m at your service. Let me know in the comments.

From now on, I’ll be updating the story regularly. I’ll continue to hold this story in my heart and make sure that you do too.

Once again, I apologize for leaving you hanging.

To everyone who’d stayed from the beginning, thank you so much. It means a lot to me. A whole lot. Seeing your comments gave me strength on days when all I wanted to do was give up.

I’ll make sure to update more frequently.

If you’re still here, please say hi in the comments. Love you so much.

With love,

Xoxo
