Diego's POV
The evening breeze gently swept my messy hair as I stood on the balcony, gazing at the sky that was slowly turning orange. The sunlight began to dim, but my mind was still turbulent, unable to find peace. Behind this silence, there was something troubling my heart—something I had never truly allowed to surface, doubt.
I remembered Nova, her smile, and how she struggled amidst all the challenges that came her way.
She was strong, stronger than I had imagined, but how could I help her when my family seemed to reject her presence?
Every time I thought of Jessica and Emily, frustration enveloped me. They couldn't see what I saw, they couldn't feel the love that was growing between us.
This doubt—had I made the right decision? Could I really protect Nova and our child from all of this?
Our family had deep traditions, and I knew how strong their influence was. But on the other hand, I didn’t want to sacrifice the happiness I had found with Nova.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my thoughts.
“What should I do?” I murmured to myself.
I realized I needed to talk to Nova, to give her the support she needed. She deserved to know that I was by her side, that I believed in her, even though the challenges ahead felt daunting. With this resolve, I turned away from the balcony, ready to face whatever would come to protect the family we were building.
I leaned against the stone railing, fists clenched, and breath held. Yesterday… I had even planned to push Nova out of my life. I crafted lies, hid the truth, and created distance between us. I thought it was for the best. I thought keeping her away would make everything easier for me, for my family, and even for her.
But as I stood here, contemplating the decisions I had made, my heart was filled with guilt.
How could I think that pushing away someone I loved was the solution?
Nova didn’t deserve any of that. She deserved honesty and love, not games that made her feel alienated.
Every time I remembered her smile, the pain crept back in. She was struggling and enduring amidst all the rejection, while I was trying to distance myself from her.
What was happening to me?
Why did I let tradition and expectations ruin the happiness right in front of me?
When I heard her walking towards Scarlet Ridge—the cursed place she shouldn’t go near—my heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest. For the first time in a long while, I felt truly afraid. Not because of the place, but because imagining if Nova… if she got hurt… or worse.
My mind raced, conjuring up all the worst possibilities. Scarlet Ridge was notorious for its dangers and mysteries.
Why did she have to go there? It felt like I couldn’t breathe, and the urge to protect her surged within me.
I sighed heavily, trying to push those thoughts away. But I couldn’t. The feeling was too real. When I found her there, crying alone with her trembling body and red eyes, something inside me shifted. There was something in her voice, in her wounded gaze—not just because of the place, but because of me.
Seeing her in that state shattered my heart. Guilt enveloped me, reminding me of how much burden I had placed on her. She was struggling amidst all this conflict, and I felt as if I had ignored her feelings.
When she expressed her desire to help me become Alpha, my heart trembled. I felt broken yet whole. Broken because I knew how heavy that responsibility was, and whole because she stood by my side, ready to support me even when everything seemed dark.
Nova… she was different.
She was stubborn, yes. Sometimes annoying. But she was also honest, sincere… and had a strength that she didn’t even realize she possessed. And behind it all, there was a softness in her that reminded me of my mother.
My mother used to say, “Gentleness is not weakness, Diego. But the hardest strength to possess as a leader.”
Nova… she had that softness. Even when everyone belittled her, even when she was alone in a palace full of sharp gazes, she stood firm. She faced all challenges with remarkable courage.
Now, I began to ask myself… could it be that she was destined to be by my side? Not just as a wife due to an agreement, not just because of the child she bore, but because she truly deserved it. Deserved to be a partner, to be Alpha beside me.
Every time she spoke, every time she showed her bravery, I felt more certain. She was not just a complement, but a strength that would help me lead. Together, we could create something greater, something based not only on tradition but also on love and mutual respect.
Could it be… that Nova was the true Luna for me?
I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to feel her presence. This wasn’t about legacy, it wasn’t about status. This was about something bigger—about the future of this pack, and my future.
The doubts that once clouded my mind began to fade. I realized that our relationship was not merely the result of an agreement. It was about love and support, about building something meaningful together.
I didn’t have the answers now, but for the first time… I wanted to seek them. Together with Nova.
With that thought, I opened my eyes, seeing her clearly. Nova was my strength, the light that illuminated the murky path ahead. In my heart, I knew that we could overcome all the obstacles. We would find our way, together, towards a better future.
My footsteps echoed down the long hallway towards my father's study. Each step carried a weight I had never felt before. Today, I had to face him. I had to discuss my status as a potential Alpha—something that had only been a vague shadow in the back of my mind, something I had always rejected.
But circumstances had changed. I couldn’t remain silent. The sense of responsibility was pressing, and I knew I had to confront this reality.
When I reached the dark wooden door with our family crest engraved in the center, I took a deep breath and knocked twice.
“Enter,” my father’s deep voice called from inside.
