Nova's POV
“I don’t want easy,” I replied, sitting across the table. “I want what’s right. And I believe you are the next Alpha’s destiny. I see that. And I want to help you get there.”
Diego lifted his head, looking at me with eyes that were no longer angry, but seemed to see something new… or perhaps, someone new. “Why did you change your mind?”
I smiled faintly. “Because I’m changing too.”
He was silent, contemplating my words. “Change isn’t easy. It will test us more than we can imagine.”
“I’m ready to face that test,” I said firmly. “I want to fight for us, for what we believe in. We can make a difference if we stand united.”
His eyes began to shine, as if he understood that there was hope behind all this darkness. “If you’re with me, maybe we can change their perspective. Maybe we can create a new path.”
“And if we succeed, we can build a better future. For both of us, and for those who rely on us,” I added.
There was a moment of silence, but it wasn’t the tense silence of before. This time, there was calmness.
“You know,” he said finally, his tone lighter, “I’ve never been on the side of someone who wants me to win… not because of my position or my last name… but because of me.”
I looked at him, and for the first time, I felt… we truly saw each other as equals. Not as enemies in a bond, not as two people forced to marry… but as two individuals who, slowly, were beginning to trust one another.
That moment felt precious, like a window thrown wide open, letting light into the darkness that had bound us for so long. “I believe in you, Diego,” I said softly. “And I want us to fight together, not just for ourselves, but for everyone.”
He smiled, a meaningful smile. “This is the first time I feel there is hope. Maybe this is the beginning of something better.”
And maybe… it was the beginning of everything. A beginning full of potential, hope, and certainty. We were no longer walking separate paths, we were starting to build a bridge between us, a bridge that would lead us to a brighter future.
Diego sat back in his chair, looking at me in a new way—not as a threat, not as a burden, but as someone who now stood beside him. It warmed my chest, yet felt strange. We had never had a moment like this before. There was no room for honesty, only blame and an endless coldness.
The tension that often filled the room had dissipated, replaced by a deep sense of understanding. In the silence, I could feel the weight we carried, a weight that had long prevented us from truly seeing each other. Now, all of that began to crack, giving way to new hope.
I remembered all the conflicts and uncertainties we had gone through. Every sharp word that had ever been spoken felt like a shadow from the past. We had come a long way, and although the road ahead was still full of challenges, there was something different.
Diego raised an eyebrow, as if trying to express his thoughts without words. In that gaze, I saw a desire to change, to find a new path. We both knew that honesty was the key to moving forward, and right now, we were building a foundation for a better future.
“Are you sure?” he asked suddenly, his voice no longer angry but seeming to filter my conviction. “Are you sure you want to get more involved in all of this? Pack politics, internal battles, blood, betrayal… this is not a friendly world, Nova.”
I nodded slowly. “I’ve seen it for myself, Diego. When we were attacked on our wedding day, when Jimmy tormented me and no one defended me… even when I had to choose between saving myself or staying by the side of a baby who wasn’t even born yet. I know this is a harsh world.”
He looked at me deeply, tracing each word I spoke.
“But I’m not afraid anymore,” I continued. “Maybe I was before. But now… I realize I’m stronger than I thought. And I won’t leave just because everything feels heavy.”
A sigh escaped Diego’s lips. He seemed to be thinking hard, perhaps grappling with a part of himself that had long resisted believing that someone else could fight alongside him, not just for him.
“My father,” he murmured, “has always seen me as a threat. Even before you came. But since you’ve been here, he’s been more cautious. More… aggressive.”
“I know,” I replied softly.
“And that makes me want to distance myself from you even more, so you don’t become a victim of his ambition.”
“Unfortunately,” I smiled faintly, “I’ve already been a victim of many things before entering this castle. If I have to be a victim again, at least this time I can choose the reason.”
Diego gave a small smile, a rare thing from him. But there was something behind that smile. Sincerity? Or exhaustion?
“You’re stubborn,” he said quietly.
“And you’re annoying,” I shot back without hesitation.
We gazed at each other, and for the first time, the atmosphere between us didn’t feel oppressive. No tension or anger. Just two people sitting in silence, sharing the remnants of our resolve.
“Are you really going to help me become Alpha?” he asked, his tone as if questioning whether someone would truly stand firm amid a storm.
I looked into his eyes and answered firmly, “Yes. If that’s what you want, I will help you get there.”
“I never wanted it,” he whispered, “but maybe… now I’m starting to consider it.”
I leaned back in my chair and smiled slightly. “Maybe we are both an unwanted destiny, but perhaps we can make it meaningful.”
Diego stood from his chair and walked to the window, gazing at the sky that was starting to change color toward dusk. “My grandmother, Marian… she believes in destiny more than anyone. Sometimes I think she has seen more than she has told.”
“I think she knows,” I said softly. “About what will happen if we truly unite.”
“And my father… he won’t just sit idly by.”
I stood and approached him, standing by his side, looking at the same horizon. “Then we’ll face him together.”
Diego turned to me, and at that moment, our eyes met again. No hatred. No anger. Just a silent acknowledgment that we were now one team.
“Let’s prove to them,” I said quietly, “that I’m not just your wife… and that you’re not just the hated Alpha’s son.”
Diego nodded, and in that moment, I knew our relationship had changed. Not with a sudden spark of love, but with a slowly growing conviction that we could trust each other.
And perhaps, from that trust… love could follow.
