CHAPTER 09. Obsessed
**— DEREK.**

The sound of skins colliding fills this room, as do this woman’s loud moans.
I'm thrusting my hips forward, crashing hard into the ass of a she-wolf who, honestly, I don't even know the name of. My firm hands on her waist mark her smooth skin while I pull her body against my thrusts, also tugging her hair in my fists.
I'm fucking someone else, but my mind keeps going back to Vita.
I really can’t get over it.
I thought that if I could see Vita in person one last time, the same resentment I felt back then might return... But the moment I laid eyes on her... something strange seized my chest, an intense chill and a tickle that spread through my abdomen. I froze, my heart raced, completely glazed.
Even wearing the same clothes I’d last seen her in, she still managed to look beautiful. Her black hair is longer than before, and it’s swaying in the light breeze, leaving me stunned, speechless, without any reaction. She looks so thin, so small, so fragile...
"Oh, Alpha!" The she-wolf moans loudly, and it annoys me deeply because it's not Vita's voice. That's not the voice I'd like to hear.
So I press her head sharply against the mattress, holding it steady as I say between my teeth, "Shut up."
I increase the pace even more, holding her hips firmly to keep her upright while I bury my cock mercilessly, hard, deep, tough.
She’s screaming with pleasure, even though I told her to keep her mouth shut, and that makes me feel anger spreading through my body instead of pleasure. Her inner muscles are squeezing me; she’s cumming for the third time, and I don't feel anywhere near the same climax.
That’s a waste of time.
I pull away, getting out of her pussy before she finishes coming. My cock is hard, but not for the reasons it should be. I'm not hard because of her, and I'm not even capable of feeling pleasure. I only feel it throbbing when I think of Vita, her body next to mine, her sweet smell, and the way she struggles not to react to mine.
It's driving me crazy.
"Alpha?" The she-wolf asks in a shaky voice, standing up and looking at me with confused eyes.
I run a hand over my face and brush back my sweat-soaked hair. I stretch my pants, sighing deeply, trying to control my panting while I pace around the room, searching for a strong drink.
I need to drink.
It’s been like this for a while.
When Alice died, something wrecked inside me. I can’t tell if it was my heart or my soul, but it changed me. All the time, I just feel miserable and angry. I’m furious all the time, especially when I remember that Vita, the woman who used to be my fiancée, was responsible for something so cruel...
I wish it weren’t true. I tried… I looked for any clue that would show me another way. Everything was fitted together so perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle that I doubted it. The truth is, I didn’t want to accept it.
However, I had to open my eyes and face the fact that Vita really did it...
Now, I just wish to understand why.
Why would she do this to Alice, who loved her so much?
I searched for this explanation. I thirsted for a conclusion, for a confession that would fill this damn hole in my chest, but it never came. Vita never admitted to having done it, and over time, I came to understand that this was also a way of torturing me. Her motivations may have allowed this wound to close, but she seems to enjoy watching me struggle. And this was proven when she took off her mask and showed the coldness behind her smile.
For the past three years, I’ve closely watched her every move, and her apathy was like a daily dose of poison, a drop that caused excruciating pain to the point of making me throw up. Even when the other inmates beat her, there was no reaction, not even a tear.
It was like she was an empty shell.
Worst of all, I can’t get over it. I tried to convince myself that this was the real Vita... that everything we’d been through was just a facade, but a flash of guilt kept nagging at the back of my mind.
Guilt.
Unbelievably, I still feel guilty for what I did, for giving her just a taste of what she had put my sister through. But Vita’s bold eyes staring at me from beneath my feet is something that has haunted my nights for the rest of my days. Sometimes, I even dream of her sweet smile, her caress on my face, but everything gets twisted into a cruel nightmare where she steps under my sister’s bruised body and laughs in my face. So I wake up remembering that two-faced woman killed my little sister, my Alice.
And like a spreading fire, my resentment towards Vita explodes and consumes me. So, I’m furious again, acting on impulse and saying anything that might hurt her so that she can get a glimpse of what I feel.
But her eyes... Her scent… The mark I have him on the neck… torment me; they haunt me.
I’m obsessed.
"Alpha, did I do something that didn't please you?" The she-wolf whimpers, kneeling on the mattress at the edge of the bed. "You haven't finished yet… please, let me satisfy you..."
“Derek?”
I raise my eyes expectantly, a shiver running through my body, but the sweet voice that calls me is nothing like when Vita calls, and the disappointment that spreads over me leaves me unsettled.
What the hell is happening to me?
Wanda looks at the naked girl on my bed and her expression stays the same. She just ignores everything and rests her sweet eyes on me... "Derek, can we talk?"
I frown at her apathy, the fact that she completely ignores another woman in my bed. She knows what's happened, what's going on now, and she just doesn't seem to care.
“Is everything all right?” Wanda approaches slowly, stopping next to me, and puts her hand on my sweaty shoulder. “Oh, silly me... of course you’re not all right, how could you be? The anniversary of Alice’s death has just passed, and the culprit is free. If it’s hard for me being the killer’s sister, I can’t imagine what it’s like for you.”
“What are you doing here, Wanda?” I ask with my back to her, reaching for the drinks on the shelf on the other side. “This is Alpha’s property; not just anyone can come in when they want to.”
“I’m not just anyone, Derek. I’m your fiancée!” She huffs and follows me, and I can hear her heels clicking on the floor. “And you know I wouldn’t bother you if it wasn’t something important.”
“And what would be so important?” I ask without much interest, picking up the strongest whisky in the collection and pouring a double shot.
“You’re going there today, aren’t you?” Her voice makes me stop the bottle in mid-air, and the drink continues to fall into the glass. “Alice’s memorial.”
I take a deep breath and stop pouring the drink that’s about to overflow my glass.
"You can leave, girl," I say without looking at the she-wolf and she quickly gets up, picking up her own clothes from the floor, wrapped in the sheet, leaving as quickly as a blink.
And when the door clicks, we're alone...
“Please, I’d like to come along.” She says, decreasing our distance, so much so that I can almost feel her body touching mine. Wanda’s scent is nauseating; it makes my stomach churn, but I don’t push her away when her breasts touch my back. “Every time I think of Alice, I...”
I grit my teeth, slamming the bottle brutally back into place, almost cracking the glass with my disproportionate force.
“Don’t spoil the mood.” I say, gulping half the drink in one big go, already used to the strong taste that has become routine. A few shots are part of my day, always to calm my nerves, to make me forget that there’s a bloody void in my chest.
“Please, listen to me… You may hate me for it, Derek... But I’m glad my sister is free... And I’m being a selfish bitch, and I feel terrible about it… about still loving Vita even though she’s done something so horrible.”
My breathing becomes harsh, and I down the rest of my drink in a single gulp while Wanda’s arms wrap around my body and her face rests on my back...
“I hate myself for feeling this way, so happy and angry at the same time... Angry for Alice, who had such a tragic end, for having her killer go free a few days after the third anniversary of her death-”
“Quiet.” I interrupt her harshly and slam the glass down hard, making her wince and hug me tighter.
“Please... let me come with you and apologize; I need to kneel where Alice was killed and beg her forgiveness… for feeling this way...”
I break away from her embrace and walk back across the room, restless, feeling my throat sour, and I’m sure it’s not from the drink.
“If you’re so happy for your sister, why didn’t you visit her at Wolf Jail once? Why didn’t you pick her up when she got out?”
“I wouldn’t dare.” Wanda shakes her head in disbelief, walking over to me again. “To be honest, I’m scared of what I’m going to find. The cold person I saw at the trial was enough to scare me. They say people become worse when they spend time in Wolf Jail because they see everything... I’m afraid I won’t find the Vita I knew.”
Oh, yes... I know that feeling well.
The Vita I knew... I wonder, didn’t she exist, or has she already died by my hands?
“Please, Derek... take me with you.”
I sigh, running my hand over my face... “Fine, do as you please.”
She smiles and tries to advance to hug me again, but I’m quicker to get out of that room and take a deep breath out of this disgusting smell, walking with long strides down the corridor as she shouts my name and tries to keep up with me.
Suddenly, I remember Vita’s scent, how cozy it is, and at the same time, it awakens something in my chest... something that stirs, unlike all the butterflies in my stomach that lived inside me when we were young, innocent, and in love.
Now, it’s like there’s just pure fire spreading, burning anyone who dares to come near me.
