Chapter 64 Cashier Job
Romeo cupped Cara's face in his arms and smiled softly. "I know. I remember."
She blinked. "What?"
"One year ago when I went with you to face your ex husband, I remember they said something like that and it really hurt you. I don't have a problem with that. Just to be sure, we will go see my doctor once we are back in the city and whatever he says, we'll move on from there." He explained to her with a calm look on his face.
A single tear drop trailed down her face. "You... You remember...? Why didn't you... I mean, they said you love kids, why didn't you... I mean, why are you--"
"Because I love you." He cut her off. Wrapping his hands around her waist, he pulled her in closer to himself and smiled. "I know I love kids but I can imagine myself living without one of my own... Somehow, I can't imagine myself living without you. Besides, there are tons of kids out there without parents, I can take in as many as I want since I love kids so much."
She couldn't control her tears as they fell down her face. She didn't want to, but she had to be selfish and let herself enjoy this.
There wasn't any other man out there who would take her the way she was, a divorcée who couldn't have kids.
If Romeo was willing to accept her the way she was, then she would stick with him no matter what.
He pressed her head against his chest and patted down on her back. "You shouldn't have gotten worried about something like that, I'm here with you and I'll continue to be here for as long as you let me."
She wiped her tears and sniffed.
"Come on, let me tuck you in." He held her hand and led her to his own bedroom instead.
She climbed his bed like a baby and Romeo settled next to her and wrapped her in his arms under the blanket and kissed her forehead.
She closed her eyes and cuddled closer to his body. The warmth emitting from his body made her feel safe and comforted. It didn't even take long before she fell asleep in his arms.
Jessica made sure Chris was gone before going down on her knees before his drawer and searching through it. There was nothing there, as she had expected.
But she kept looking everywhere. After finding nothing in his wardrobe, drawer, under his bed, inside his shoes, she stopped and let out a sigh.
Her eyes darted towards the laptop that sat down on his table and she hurried towards it. Lighting up the screen, his password was the same as before. Thankfully to her benefit.
She started going through his files and she was surprised to find a long list of sx videos he created with the girls he hooked up with. "Oh my God... Does he use this to blackmail them?" Her eyes narrowed.
Picking up her satin shirt, she reached into the pocket and took out a USB drive she had taken with her just in case she found something on his laptop... Like she did.
She began to transfer the videos, as many as she could. But she stopped to think. "Will he really feel threatened by such videos? It would affect his image but for how long? He probably has enough power to stop it from ever hurting him."
She groaned softly. "I need to find something of much more value than this." She bit down on her fingernail.
After the videos finished transferring, she continued searching through his laptop and was surprised to see a long list illegal business he had done through a secret paper company he owned.
It was fraud and nothing more. She smirked. "That that is tangible enough..." She immediately sent it to her flash drive then buried the drive inside her bra before clearing every traces of her ever going through his laptop.
With a happy smile, she left the room and went to hers. Just in case, she made copies and hid them properly in her room and saved them to the clouds. With such progress, she was very happy and she knew she could get a good sleep. But before then, dinner.
Sitting at the table, she was all smiles. Her mother in-law and father in-law couldn't help but to spare confused glances at her every now and then.
Chris was absent at the table, out with his friend like he had said, and it wasn't something to surprise them. He rarely ate with his family anymore.
Sarah placed her fork on the side of her plate and drank from her glass of red wine then wiped her mouth softly. "Jessica," she called her name softly.
Jessica looked up at her mother in-law and smiled in response.
Sarah continued. "I promised to find you something to do the last time we spoke and as you know, I am one to keep my promises. A friend of mine owns a café close by and his cashier just quit. I told him you would resume first thing tomorrow morning since he is desperate so here..."
She bent and picked up a paper bag then handed it to Jessica. "That will be your uniform and the coordinates to the place will be sent to your phone any time from now so be on the lookout."
Jessica confusedly took the bag and looked through it, a red top and face cap laid inside. She chuckled softly. "You're kidding right?"
"Do I look like the kind to make jokes?" Sarah's brow arched egoistically.
"You want me to work the counter of a freaking café? What happened to all the decent jobs in the world? I have a degree in accountancy!"
"That's exactly why you're perfect for the job." Sarah stated. "There will be no money related mistakes ever. Remember to wake up early tomorrow so you won't be late on your first day of work."
Jessica couldn't believe her ears. She refused to.
