Chapter 55 Dinner

Chapter 55 Dinner

Chris stared irritatedly at the food that sat on his plate. Ever since he had told Cara about the car he got her and she obviously wasn't pleased by it, he had been trying to reach her but her number was not connecting.

She couldn't have... Blocked him? Could She?

He couldn't stop asking himself different questions. Was she really on a cruiser with the CEO and founder of Breeze motors? How did she even meet him in the first place? Through Romeo?

His brow creased.

Dropping his fork, he reached for his phone and clicked on Instagram. He was tired of all the unanswered questions and if it meant he had to stalk around for a little for answers then he was more than willing to do it.

The first person he searched for was Andrew Malhotra. Everyone knew that the man and social media were five and six. He liked to post updates and he did so every day.

About his outings, new cars, relationships, and friendships. He tended to post a lot.

Chris was not all too surprised when he saw a few pictures of Andrew and Romeo together. Every rich man and woman of the city were connected in one way or the other.

Scrolling all the way down to the recent post, all he saw was a short note from Andrew to Romeo, congratulating him and telling him he was looking forward to the fun and crazy time they were to have with their friends.

"Why aren't there any photos?" He muttered angrily to himself as he kept refreshing the page over and over again.

After finally giving up, he went ahead to stalk Romeo's page. Millions of followers, it sounded absurd to Chris. Mostly because he was jealous he had only a few thousand followers.

He wondered how a guy could be so good looking, imagine he, a guy, asking that kind of question. What would the ladies think of him then?

All the pictures he saw described Romeo as a model from heaven. His impossible eyes, cute dimples and sexy body.

But he was disappointed to find pictures of Romeo, his friends, nature, cars and other things but not a single one had mention of Cara in it. There was another girl though, her username was "It's_Camilla" and she was a beautiful black haired girl who appeared in a lot of Romeo's posts.

He wanted to believe they were in a relationship but a post to contradict him caught his eyes when he saw Romeo congratulating her regarding her engagement.

It was a picture of her and another guy. One who appeared on Andrew's and Romeo's wall.

"They must all be friends huh..." He muttered to himself yet again. "Why isn't she on his wall? Not a single post about her? Didn't she say they were dating? I posted about her a lot while we were together!"

"Chris." Sarah, his mother, spoke up. "What are you talking about? Your food is getting cold and you haven't even touched it yet. Is it something else you wish for?"

"No, it's fine." He responded, eyes still on his phone. "Maybe Camilla has posted something..." He clicked on Camilla's page and began scrolling through it as well.

"Chris, can you put your phone down and eat? No phones at the table remember?" Sarah said in a gentle tone.

Chris said nothing in response and continued scrolling through his phone.

Jessica wanted to interfere but Sarah might transfer her aggression on her so she kept quiet and continued stuffing her face with her food.

"Chris? Are you not hearing me?" She arched a brow at him.

"For fcks sake mom, can you please just leave me alone?!" He snapped. With a disgusted sigh, he continued scrolling through his phone as he spoke. "I have every right to go through my phone when and where I feel like. Do you even care if it's work related?"

"Work can wait at the table." She insisted.

"Jackpot!" He exclaimed as he saw a picture of Camilla and Cara together. Camilla had tagged it "new friend" with a smiling face emoji. "I knew I would find something!"

He rose to his feet and walked away from the table.

Sarah turned to look at her husband whose attention never left the food on his plate. She scowled at him. "Michael! You're not even going to say anything?"

He didn't even look up as he responded. "Let the boy be, he's not a little kid anymore. Did you even stop to think if what he was doing was important?"

"He's stalking his ex wife!" Jessica blurted out angrily. "It's nothing work related."

Sarah frowned deeply at Jessica and shook her head.

"That's the truth, I saw it!" Jessica exclaimed as both of them stated disapprovingly at her.

"Quiet now! Enough of your nonsense!" Sarah shunned her. "I see you do have a lot of free time on your hands since you have enough time to be stalking around your husband and his phone. Don't worry, I'll find you something to keep you busy."

Still frowning deeply, Sarah rose to her feet and stormed off from the dining room.

Michael sat there unaffected by their conversation. He just wanted to eat.

Jessica wanted to stand up and leave as well but she couldn't dare to leave while Michael was still sitting by the table. The last time she had tried to do something like that, she had received a hot slap for being disrespectful.

The slap was accompanied by an earful of words she would never forget in her entire life.

Tears threatened to fall down her eyes. In that house that was supposed to be her home, she was treated worse than an outcast.

Michael turned to glance at her. "Eat your food and your husband's too. Nothing in this house must go to waste."

She blinked. She wasn't even hungry and now she was being forced to finish two portions? Why?

"Didn't you hear me?" He frowned.

"Oh right! Yes dad." She forced a smile as she poured Chris' portion into her plate.

Michael eyed her and continued eating his food.
