Chapter 13 Kitchen
"I was so disturbed that I burst out; I shouldn't have said those things and controlled myself, but I couldn't, and I am sorry, so can you please go and check on her? She must be hurt.
She already blames herself for their deaths, and remembering this all must have wounded her." Reva was overwhelmed by his words; even though he lost his father, his only family that truly loved him, he still cared for her dismay.
Reva put her hand on his shoulder and made him look towards her. "Are you okay? You know that right. You can talk to me." Louis was flabbergasted.
She never shows her softness to him. Louis nodded and avoided eye contact. "Okay, then I'm going to check Shrey."
Reva said, standing, "Thank you." Louis muttered, rested his head on the sofa, and closed his eyes. Reva went inside Shrey's room, but to her dismay, she was already asleep, and her face was covered with sheets with the lights off.
Reva went near her, removed the sheet from Shrey's face, and placed a small kiss on her forehead. "I know you are pretending, but it's okay, Shrey; it's okay to show emotions; you don't always need to mask them.
I won't force you, but I will wait for you to come and share everything you have been hiding."
Reva said and left the room to check on Louis, who was trying to find something: "Are you looking for something?" Reva asked, coming next to him,
"Yeah, I was trying to distract myself, so I thought to watch something on TV, but I couldn't find the remote anywhere."
"Um, I guess. Shrey must have used it as a paperweight and kept it somewhere." "Oh yeah, right." "Kind of late for a walk, isn't it?" "It's only 11 p. m. Nope, it's not."
"Let me eat first, then I will walk you home." "Hey, you yourself told me that I could stay here, and now you want to walk me home. Great!" Reva rolled her eyes at his remark and said,
"I said that because you seemed to be upset at the time, and now you're not, so you should go back home." She turned around and left for the kitchen to serve herself something to eat for dinner.
Louis sighed and followed her, saying, "I'm hungry as well. Can I use your kitchen?" He was standing near the door frame of the kitchen and inspecting her kitchen and stuff for him to either cook or eat.
"Nope," Reva uttered and turned to him with a fake smile plastered on her face. "Why? This is Shrey's kitchen as well, and she is my best friend, so yes, I can use it. I don't need your permission."
Without arguing further, Louis grabbed the sauce pan and kept it on the stove. And he took the milk bottle from the fridge to boil. "So, you're going to only drink milk,"
Reva asked as she was preparing to make pasta for both her and Shrey. "Yeah, it's enough for me," Louis said without glancing at Reva.
