Chapter 69 - Eva’s change

Jason POV:

I heard Eva's name after a long time. Hearing her name itself made me feel the pleasantness of a cool breeze. A smile touched my lips. I remembered her love, sweetness, naughtiness, teasing her, pouted face, innocence, smile, patience. God, I think the list never ends. But wait. What did Maya say? Eva Raymond?? Who is this Raymond? Is this my Eva, or someone else? If she is my Eva, then she must be Eva Jason or Eva Heymonds. How did she become Eva Raymond?

"Who is Raymond?" I asked Maya.

"Eva's father," Maya answered relaxing me.

Thank God she is still mine. But how to make her come into my life again? First I need to meet her once. I am least bothered about my loss of projects because I am happy as its won by my darling. I love to lose in her hands. If it makes her so glad to see me losing in my business, happily I will enjoy that failure. Sometimes in love, losing is also a type of success, as we win the heart of our loved ones.

My mobile rang. I received the call. Its an invitation to me from the Central Minister as they are facilitating top five young entrepreneurs. They are going to facilitate me as one among those five. I thought to say no as my mood is not good and first I have to meet my Eva. However, Maya suggested me to accept. I said OK and disconnected the call.

"Eva is also going to attend the function," Maya said to me.

Next day, I woke up soon. I knew facilitation function is at 7 pm. But I am excited to meet my sweetheart after six months. I got ready in a chocolate colour suit which was gifted by her. She said I look so handsome when I wear chocolate colour. I combed my hair many times. I don't know why it's not appropriately set today. I opened wardrobe to take the perfume which as she likes its fragrance. I refused to use it at that time. I kept a watch selected by her. What happened to me today? Why am I behaving so strange? I am meeting my wife and not the girl whom I am going to flirt.

"Jason, be cool. Don't be so tense. Don't lose yourself, Jason!" said beast in me.

"Jason, Eva already lost everything for you. Do anything but don't lose her or your life will be completely a waste," said lover in me.

Finally, lover won the argument. I decided to dress up according to her likes. I went to the function. I sat on the seat reserved for me. Suddenly my heart started beating fast and sensed her presence. I searched for her and then I noticed her coming from the entrance. Is it my Eva? I opened my mouth. She changed completely.

She wore a dark pink dress. She is looking beautiful as usual. But her looks and body language changed completely. Her eyes reflected her confidence and courage. She walked straight and looked straight. She came near to me. Only then I realised that her seat is beside me as we both are in first and second places. She seated in her chair crossing her legs. I know she had noticed me. But her eyes have no emotions. She behaved as if she doesn't know me.

Rio accompanied her. He sat beside Eva. They were talking continuously and are smiling. I felt irritated. How could she ignore me entirely and speak like that with Rio? I slowly tried to touch her palm, but she took it off. Next moment she changed her seat. Rio sat beside me, and she sat beside Rio. I clutched my fist.

The function had been started. They have invited Eva onto the stage, and she went there. They facilitated her. They asked her to say a few words. She took the mike.

"Good evening, everyone. Thank you for giving me this honour. I thank my parents, friends, employees, my well-wishers and everyone those who were directly or indirectly, a reason behind my success.

Success never comes easily. Success comes only when we are ready to face hardships and put consistent efforts. You all know this Eva who succeeded in very short time and made impossible as possible. But only a few know Eva who lost everything including her hopes on life."

She paused, and I noticed tears in her eyes. But she composed herself immediately and gave her a beautiful and energetic smile.

"When we succeed, everyone will stay with us. But in failure, only a few stays. They will be our true friends and well-wishers. I succeeded today. But behind my success, there was a friend who motivated me, guided and showed me the right path. A friend who stood by me till I succeed. The one who wiped my tears and worked every second for my happiness. Today this world know me only because of him. I dedicate my success to my best friend, Mr Rio and proudly invite him onto the stage," Eva said, and Rio went onto the stage.

"Thank you for everything, Rio," Eva thanked him on the stage. I observed media covering all this.

Is she in love with Rio? Does she forget me? Does she decide to marry him? Did I lose her forever?

No, I won't let it happen. I want my Eva back. At any cost, I will make her forgive me.

Function completed. I went to Eva to talk as they were having dinner there.

"Eva!" I called her.

"Eva Raymond," she stressed the word, Raymond.

"I want to talk to you," I said ignoring her words.

"Sure but please take an appointment by talking to my PA," she said and continued her dinner.

Appointment??? Does she ask me to take an appointment to talk to her? I am her husband. Maybe I lost that respect long back. I closed my eyes a few seconds.

I wanted to lift her in my arms right now and take her home. But no I don't want to do anything wrong as I had already done many wrong things. I remembered her taking my appointment to talk to me and request me to come home when I left her with my stupid anger.

She had borne a lot. When she had done so much for me, why can't I take a little for her? After all, she is not that rude as I am.

I smiled and went near to her and whispered in the voice that is audible only to her.

"You had already given me an appointment for the lifetime sweetheart. Still, you are my wife. Don't forget," I said smiling.

"That's the only thing for which I regret in my life till now, Mr Jason. Soon I will send you divorce papers. Or if you have them right now, I am ready to sign it now," She said so harshly.

"Eva, we are getting late. Mom called just now. Shall we move?" Rio asked her to which she nodded and went to the car.

Rio opened the car door for her, and she got into the car. Rio sat beside her. They started talking and smiling and moved off from there.
