CHAPTER 118- WE USED A CONDOM

CHAPTER 118- WE USED A CONDOM
Kiya sat down on her bed, staring into space as she tried to think back on how this happened.

Surely, after they got back from their trip to Thailand, she and Asher had sex a few times, but she recollected him using a condom, especially when she forgot to use her birth control pills.

"Sweetie, tell me, what are you thinking about?," Amarah said, snapping Kiya out of her thoughts.

"We used a condom, Ama; I ensured we did. I'm not that careless."

Amarah sighed as her face took on an empathetic expression. "That might be true, babe," she said, "but even condoms are not a hundred percent safe; a condom could break, and I'm guessing it did in this case."

"But what do I do now?," Kiya said, tears now filling up in her eyes. "Asher isn't talking to me, and now that I have decided to let go and move on, this happens. I can't believe this is happening right now. What was I thinking even having sex with him in the first place? I'm so stupid."

"Hey babe, babe, calm down," Amarah said, interrupting Kiya's crashing out. "From what the doctor said, you still have a few weeks to think about what you'd like to do concerning this pregnancy, and whatever it is you choose, I'll be here to support your decision all the way, babe."

"But is it right for me to make this decision without his opinion?" Kiya asked, referring to Asher.

Amarah sighed and moved closer to Kiya as she engulfed her in a hug. "Listen, babe," she said, "I don't know what is right or wrong in this situation, but what I do know, however, is that you have to do what's right for you. And quite frankly, it's not like Asher is currently in the picture, so does his opinion really matter in this case?"

Kiya nodded as she hugged her friend tighter. "I'm so scared, babe," she whispered into her neck. "I'm so scared I'll make a decision I'll regret forever."

Amarah nodded. "Whatever that is, babe, I'm here all the way."

They stayed in the embrace for about ten minutes until the sound of Kiya's phone ringing snapped them out of the embrace.

She picked up her phone to check who was calling, and she was shocked to see Asher's name plastered on her screen.

"Babe, pick it up," Ama said, and she nodded as she pressed the green button.

His thick voice sounded through the phone. It was his same voice, but it did not have the usual warmth Kiya was used to. This sounded like it was a stranger.

"Hello, Agent Kiya Thomas, Can we meet up? It's concerning the investigation."

She was shocked that he called her in a formal manner, but she knew she deserved it; in fact, she knew whatever he was feeling was valid.

"Hello," he said again, as Kiya had not yet replied.

"Oh, yes, we can," Kiya quickly responded.

"Okay then, I'll send an address. Can you be ready in an hour?," he asked, and she quickly replied that she could be. She wasn't going to pass up any opportunity to meet up with Asher.

Immediately after the call ended, Asher sent her an address to a tiny boba place, and she quickly got up to get dressed. It was now 6pm, and the time they're to meet is 7pm.

Amarah offered she'd drive whilst she waited for them in the car.

"Do you think I should tell him?," Kiya asked Amarah as she got dressed in a simple white cropped tee shirt and blue wide-legged jeans. She paired it with her white Hermes slide, and she put a white headband in to keep her hair out of her face. She put on a very light layer of foundation and blush, and she completed the look with a lip gloss. She didn't want to go barefaced because she looked pale from being sick all these days, and irrespective of the situation of things, she still liked to look good for Asher.

"Honestly, babe, I don't think you should," Ama said, "at least not yet. You haven't even had time yourself to digest this info of you being pregnant, and I also feel that if you are even going to tell him, you should come to a point where you've decided on what you want to do. I don't think you should rush to tell him."

"But what if this is the only chance I get to talk to him ever again?" Kiya asked.

"Well, if it is, then so be it, babe," Amarah said. "I just don't think it's a good idea to tell him this right now, especially as this thing with his mom is still ongoing. He might not be in the right headspace to deal with this right now, babe."

"Yeah, you're right." Kiya said, "I don't know what I was thinking. Anyways, I'm ready."

"Okay then, let's go," Amarah said as she grabbed the car keys off the kitchen counter, and they headed out.

Kiya was nervous all through the ride. It was a short distance away from where she stayed, but it somehow felt like the longest ride of her life. She could feel knots in her stomach, and she didn't know if it was from how nervous she felt or if it was from the little baby growing inside of her. She subconsciously took her hand and rested it on her abdomen. This baby isn't even fully formed yet, but she already felt a strong connection to it, and as much as the whole situation isn't favourable to bringing a child into her world, she had this deep knowing that she loved this child and wanted to keep it.

She shoved all thoughts about her pregnancy as Amarah announced their arrival. She took one last deep breath as she stepped out of the car.

Walking into the shop, she saw Asher sitting in a seat in a corner. He had on grey sweatpants with a matching grey shirt. He had a simple Nike slide on, and he had glasses on. This was the first time she had ever seen him not look as put together, but he didn't look any less attractive.

As though he could feel her eyes on him, he snapped his head up, pulled off his glasses, and his eyes locked to hers.
