Chapter 169 For Lilian
Chapter 169 For Lilian
Aurora's POV
I found Caden pacing in his study, his face a mask of anger and frustration. His twin brother and his daughter-how could things have spiraled out of control so quickly? I could feel the tension radiating from him as I approached, my heart aching for him.
"Caden," I called softly, but he didn't stop pacing.
I moved closer, gently reaching out to touch his arm. "Caden, please. Sit down. Let's talk."
He halted, looking at me with stormy eyes. "Fox, you don't understand. My own brother... with my daughter. How could he do this? How could she?"
I guided him to the couch, my touch gentle but firm. "I know you're angry. But getting worked up like this won't solve anything."
He resisted at first, but I coaxed him with soft touches, my fingers brushing his arm, then his cheek. I leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. Slowly, his rigid posture began to soften. He sighed heavily and allowed me to lead him to sit down.
As he sat, I settled myself on his lap, facing him. "Caden, I understand how you feel. But right now, you need to calm down."
His hands, which had been clenched into fists, relaxed slightly. I took one of them and placed it on my baby bump where our child was growing. "Feel this, Caden. Our child. This is what matters most right now."
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, his hand resting gently on my belly. The tension slowly drained from his body, and he opened his eyes, looking at me with a mixture of love and resignation.
"You're right," he said quietly. "Our child. That's what's important."
I smiled softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. "We'll figure everything out. Together."
He nodded, his anger fading, replaced by a sense of calm. "Together," he repeated, pulling me closer.
A few minutes later, I looked into Caden's eyes, seeing the residual anger and confusion still lurking there. I knew this wasn't going to be easy, but it was necessary. Taking a deep breath, I started gently. For Lilian's sake.
"Caden," I said softly, "I know this situation with Caleb and Lilian is hard to accept. But try to see it from another angle. They're mates. This isn't something they chose-it's something the Moon Goddess has fated."
His brows furrowed, and he shook his head slightly. "Fox, I can't just accept this. My own brother and my daughter? It is fucking... wrong."
I cupped his face in my hands, making him look directly into my eyes. "I understand how you feel, but we can't question the will of the Moon Goddess. She doesn't make mistakes. Lilian has been searching for her mate for so long, and now she's found him. If they reject this bond, it could destroy them both. You know that."
He clenched his jaw, clearly struggling with the idea. "But Caleb... he's my twin. This is too much."
I leaned in closer, my voice steady and calm. "I know it's hard, but Lilian deserves this chance. She deserves to be happy. If she rejects her mate, it will weaken her, and you know as well as I do, it could possibly kill her. Do you really want to risk that?"
His eyes softened, the fight in them dimming just a little. He sighed heavily, closing his eyes for a moment. "I don't want to lose her, Fox. But it's still difficult to accept."
I kissed his forehead gently, my fingers tracing soothing patterns on his arm. "You don't have to accept it completely right now. Just give Lilian this chance. Let her and Caleb figure this out together. She needs your support, not your opposition."
He opened his eyes, looking at me with a mixture of resignation and understanding. "I'll try. For her sake, I'll try. But it's going to take time."
I smiled, relieved to see some of the tension leaving his face. "That's all I'm asking for. Just try. For Lilian."
He nodded slowly, his grip on my waist tightening slightly. "Alright, love. I'll try. For her."
