Chapter 27: You don't touch what's Mine
Chapter Twenty-Seven: You Don’t Touch What’s Mine

POV: Elias Voss

The city blazed beneath the late-morning sun, a molten skyline of glass and ambition. Elias Voss stood before it, still as sculpture, the light cutting around him. The view symbolized everything he’d conquered, but today it mocked him. His jaw ached from restraint. Thought stripped to precision, emotion buried beneath ice.

They had called Noah into 4B. Alone.

That single fact pulsed like a siren. The Board had summoned his assistant—his shield, his heart—into their soundproof chamber of quiet executions. No witness. No warning. Intentional. Calculated. A provocation.

They had tested Noah. Prodded at loyalty. Measured the boundaries of Elias’s control. Now they would learn the cost of touching what belonged to him.

At 10:04 a.m., Elias entered the main boardroom without announcement. Conversations died mid-breath.

Madeline Fox’s pen froze. Bernard Liu straightened, eyes wary. Rajen Malik adjusted his tie in a useless gesture of composure.

Elias didn’t sit. He placed a black folder on the obsidian table. The thud cracked the silence.

“Internal audit,” he said, voice flat. “Encrypted channels. Last ten days. Guess whose names appeared.”

The four exchanged tight glances. Nobody spoke.

Margot Drey found her tongue first. “You can’t storm in here accusing—”

“No,” Elias said. The single syllable sliced the air. He stepped closer. “This isn’t a playground, Margot. It’s my kingdom. And you’ve trespassed.”

He paced the room, each measured step amplifying dread. “You thought you could corner him,” he said softly. “See if he’d crack. You mistook gentleness for weakness. Noah Hart is the strongest person in this company—and the most loyal.”

Madeline tried to reclaim control, voice smooth but trembling at the edges. “You’re confusing professionalism with obsession, Elias. Maybe—”

He moved fast, leaning over the table until their eyes met. His voice dropped to a whisper that filled the room. “Obsession implies doubt. I have none.”

He straightened. “Effective immediately, new compliance clause 7B: any unscheduled review involving my staff—especially my executive assistant—requires my written approval. Breach it once, and you’ll answer to Legal, Ethics, and me.”

Bernard rose slightly. “You can’t impose unilateral—”

“I just did.” His gaze dismissed Bernard like static.

Margot pushed back her chair. “This is emotional. Your attachment clouds your judgment.”

Elias’s mouth curved—not a smile, a baring of teeth. “Correct. I am compromised.” He circled the table again, voice low, deliberate. “I’m in love with a man none of you can manipulate. He doesn’t flinch before power; he exposes it.” He stopped behind Rajen, resting a hand on the chair’s back. Rajen froze.

“If any of you ever touch him again,” Elias continued, tone quiet and absolute, “I’ll burn this entire board to daylight. Every deal, every bribe, every skeleton you buried—I’ll make them headlines. You wanted a war; congratulations, you have one.”

He looked to the door. “Rajen said this wasn’t personal. He was wrong. From the moment you targeted him, it became the most personal thing in my life.”

He paused at the threshold, turning slightly. “You all forgot who rebuilt this empire from ash.” His eyes were mercury. “And you forgot the rule.”

A beat of silence.

“You don’t touch what’s mine.”

He left. The door shut with the finality of a closing vault. The echo it left was ruin.

The walk back to his office was controlled violence in motion. Staff flattened against walls as he passed. Word of the confrontation had spread faster than fire.

Vincent waited inside, posture tight. “It’s begun,” he said quietly. “The floor’s shaking. Everyone’s spooked.”

“Good,” Elias replied. “Fear restores order.”

Vincent hesitated. “There’s more.” He handed over a tablet. “This leaked twenty minutes ago. It’s already trending.”

Elias looked. The screen showed a still image from the security feed in 4B: Noah standing tall, defiant, eyes burning straight into the lens. Beneath it, the caption blazed:

> “If I weren’t sleeping with him, would I be in this room?” – Noah Hart, EA to CEO Elias Voss

Hashtags flooded the bottom of the post:
#VossScandal #NoahHart #BoardroomDrama #CorporateAffair #GlassCloset

The picture radiated both courage and violation.

Elias stared for a long moment. His expression didn’t move. Only his eyes changed—darkening, condensing into something lethal.

He returned the tablet. “Find out who leaked it.” His tone was soft, stripped of all emotion.

Vincent’s throat worked. “And when we do?”

Elias’s gaze stayed on the office door, where somewhere beyond it Noah would be trying to stay composed while the world dissected him.

“Then,” Elias said, voice quiet as a blade sliding from its sheath, “we remind everyone why weaponizing intimacy is fatal.”
