Chapter 25: Where the Silence Stays
Chapter Twenty-Five: Where the Silence Stays
POV: Noah Hart
The city glittered below the penthouse windows like it didn’t know the world had changed.
Like it didn’t care.
But Noah cared.
Because Elias had walked in and kissed him like it meant something.
Like he meant something.
And now they sat on opposite ends of the couch in a quiet too heavy to be casual.
\---
Noah turned toward him. “You’re brooding.”
Elias didn’t deny it. “It’s a habit.”
Noah tucked one leg under himself. “You always do that. Retreat into yourself.”
“I’ve lived a life where silence was safer than sincerity.”
“And now?”
Elias looked at him — truly looked. “Now I’m trying to relearn the sound of being wanted.”
\---
The words hit Noah like heat and ice at the same time.
He stood and walked toward Elias, slowly. Each step deliberate.
Elias didn’t move.
When Noah straddled his lap and sat down, Elias inhaled like he’d forgotten how to breathe.
Noah touched his face. “I want you.”
Elias closed his eyes.
“I want the man who makes coffee when no one’s watching,” Noah whispered. “The one who sits in the dark because it’s quieter. The one who kisses like he’s afraid the world might end after.”
His fingers brushed Elias’s cheekbone. “And I want the one who just ended someone’s career because they hurt me.”
Elias opened his eyes.
“I don’t want to be good at this,” he murmured. “But I want to be good to you.”
\---
The kiss that followed wasn’t hungry.
It was reverent.
Noah wrapped his arms around Elias’s neck, tilting into him, slow and languid, like they had all the time in the world. Like this could be real.
Elias’s hands gripped his waist, but he didn’t rush.
He didn’t need to.
They weren’t racing toward pleasure anymore — they were learning each other by touch, by breath, by trust.
\---
Noah shifted against him, pressing down until Elias exhaled through his teeth.
“Tell me what you need,” Elias said.
Noah’s voice was barely a whisper. “I need you not to be my boss right now.”
Elias smiled. “Done.”
“I need you to stop carrying the weight alone.”
Elias paused. Then: “I’m trying.”
Noah leaned in, lips grazing his jaw. “And I need you to make love to me like I’m not going anywhere.”
\---
Elias stood with him in his arms.
Carried him down the hall without a word.
Laid him out across those crisp, cold sheets like Noah was the most fragile and dangerous thing in the world.
And then?
He didn’t just take.
He gave.
\---
It wasn’t rough. Not like the first time.
This was worship.
This was slow, bare, messy honesty.
Noah touched every inch of him.
Listened to every sound Elias made.
Let himself be held open, steady, seen.
And when Elias came, it wasn’t with dominance — it was with devotion.
Like he couldn’t believe he was allowed to feel this way.
\---
After, they lay tangled in the sheets, the sweat between them cooling, the world gone still.
Noah had his head on Elias’s chest, tracing soft lines over his ribs. Listening to the heartbeat of a man no one ever got this close to.
Elias’s fingers threaded through his hair, unhurried.
“What happens next?” Noah asked quietly.
Elias didn’t answer right away.
Then: “I stop hiding.”
Noah looked up. “And me?”
Elias met his gaze. “You start trusting that this isn’t temporary.”
Noah’s throat tightened. “
I’ve never had that before.”
“You do now.”
\---
They stayed like that for a long time.
No need to fill the silence.
Because for once, the silence didn’t feel empty.
It felt like home.
