Chapter 93: Proposal
Alicia
I woke up and saw the clock. It was 7 AM. I looked to my side, Alistair was not there.
Did he already leave for the attack?
I went down but he was nowhere. So I decided to go to the church to pray for him.
As I came out of church, I received a call. It was from Alistair. I smiled brightly. I was sure he was safe.
“Hey”
“Hey, Alicia! I am so glad”
“Did you win?”
“Yeah!”
I smiled and my happiness had no bounds. I wanted to laugh, dance and sing so loud. “Oh my lord, I am so happy!”
“Yeah! I will pick you up in an hour. Get ready”
“Sure! I will wait”
“Yeah, bye for now--”
“I love you”
“I love you more, queen”
I blushed and the call ended. I smiled brightly. I couldn’t believe it.
I ran to my house after thanking Jesus. I was feeling so good. I was finally gonna be happy with Alistair, what else could I wish for?
I got ready and came down. I waited for him.
After some time, the doorbell rang. I opened the door.
“Hey!” I hugged Alistair. “I missed you”
He hugged me back. “I missed you more, Alice”
I looked in his eyes as we held each other in our arms. I kissed him. He kissed me back.
“I am so happy”
“I am more!”
We both hugged and I got emotional. This was so good. Like a dream come true.
“Let’s go, oaky?”
“Why are we going there anyway?” I asked him as he came inside.
“To meet your parents”
“But I-- wait. Which parents do you mean?”
“Both” he picked up my bag and came to me. “Come on”
“You remember?” I whispered. I can't believe he remembers that!
“Yes”
“Woah. You surprised me!”
He chuckled. “That’s good” he took my hand and dragged me to his car. We sat inside and he drove.
We reached the place soon. We went inside. I loomed around. It didn’t seem like the tyranned land anymore. It felt independent.
“They are inside” he whispered after we reached the house.
“Should I go alone?”
“Yeah”
I nodded. “Thanks”
“Hm-mh”
I went inside. I smiled as I saw my foster mom stand up. She ran to me and hugged me. “I knew you’d make it!”
I smiled at her. “Oh mom, yes!”
“I missed you”
“I missed you more”
She smiled and cupped my face.
Then she got away. “See, we never told you--”
“I know” I cut her off. I went slowly to a lady standing there. “Are you my real mom?”
“Yes, she is,” my foster mom replied. “She can’t speak, she is dumb”
I looked at her and smiled. I hugged her. “I am glad I finally met you”
She hugged me back. That was enough to fill me with happiness.
We got away. “I will be back in a minute”
I went out and ran to Alistair. I noticed Jake was standing beside him. I hugged Alistair. “Thanks, Alistair. I met her! I am so happy! But where’s dad?”
He smiled sadly. “Your dad hasn't been with your mom for the last ten years. But you have your mom, right?”
I smiled sadly. “Yeah”
“She was in custody of the Mafia. Thet released her after we were in peace”
“Oh wow… thanks”
He cupped my face. “Stop saying thanks”
I laughed. “Ah, okay”
He sat down on the ground. I looked at him, suddenly serious. He took out a ring. “Would you like to be mine forever?”
I kept a hand on my face as I was overwhelmed. My heart raced as I took the ring from his hand. “Oh my God, yes!”
I hugged him and looked sideways to jake. He was smiling. “You two are cute”
I grinned. “I know”
I got away. “I love you”
“I love you more”
We both smiled.
I looked to my left as I heard footsteps. It was Alan. The one who helped me escape.
“Alan,” I whispered. He came to me.
“Hey”
“I never got the chance to thank you enough…”
“It is okay. All I want is your happiness”
I smiled. I hugged him. “Thank you”
He hugged me back. “Anytime”
We got away. “Now this all is so cute, but when are you two getting married then?”
“Tomorrow!”
“Oh, you can’t wait?”
“No!” we both said in unison and laughed.
Everything looked so perfect. I hope everything remains this way. This is the best thing that could have happened.
