It was noon and Beatrice was contemplating how to ask for permission from Ben, it was her break time and Mr. Shawn had sent the address where they'll be meeting to her an hour ago.
Beatrice drew her chair backward and stood up from her seat, her eyes glued on Ben who was typing on the keyboard, his eyes fixed on the screen of the computer.
She walked over to him, sucking in her breath, and stood right in front of his desk, her hands clamped in front of her.
"Excuse me, sir," Beatrice cleared her throat, eyeing him anxiously after getting Ben's attention, who then darted his gaze from the screen of the computer to her face.
"How may I help you?" He questioned, leaning back in his seat and swiveling his seat to her position.
"Uhm! I-I..." She paused, she was finding it difficult to ask Ben permission to leave the office to see her agent, probably because she thought Ben would be adamant and decline her request.
"Yes?" Ben urged her to go on, arching a brow at her questioningly.
"I would like to ask for permission to leave the work premises for something urgent," Beatrice requested in a hushed tone, while Ben narrowed his gaze at her.
"I won't be staying long," Beatrice added, afraid that Ben won't allow her to leave.
"You can go," Ben agreed and avert his gaze back to the screen of the computer, and Beatrice blinked her eyes at him, surprisingly.
'That was...'
Easy!
"I can go, I mean leave now?" Beatrice clarified to be certain she heard right from him.
"I heard you at first, Beatrice, you can go," Ben uttered in a bored tone, shifting his gaze back to her face and their eyes held each other for a moment.
"Ok-kay," Beatrice stuttered, smiling nervously at him, and Ben returned his gaze to the computer screen.
Beatrice turned around immediately, releasing the hands she was holding together, and hurried to her table.
'That was new from his side, I thought he would act all grumpy and ask reasons why I want to leave the work premises,' She thought to herself, and a rush of relief coursed through her body.
Ben looked up from his computer screen, staring her way, and smirked at her, while he continued typing on the keyboard.
Beatrice grabbed her smartphone from the table and quickly sent a message to Mr. Shawn telling him that she was on her way to the venue, and he should meet her there.
Ben too had also texted his driver to get one of his cars ready at the entrance of the building, he picked a dark blue Lamborghini Aventador, one that Beatrice was not familiar with.
Beatrice grabbed her bag and headed towards the door.
"Don't stay too long," Ben said, and Beatrice stopped in her tracks and turned around to face him.
"I won't, thank you," She smiled this time genuinely, Ben nodded in response, and she beamed at him again, she turned around covering the distance to the door, and got out of the office.
Ben adjusted his tie, and in the process untied the knot and placed the tie on the table. He closed down what he was doing on the system and stood up.
He removed his suit, hanging it around his swiveled chair, then ruffled his silky black hair with his hands and unbuttoned three buttons of his white shirt.
Not only that, but he drew out one of the drawers under his desk and brought out a black shade, he intended to follow Beatrice discreetly without letting her realize he was the one, and he wanted to know why she needed to pay one point two million dollars.
That is a huge sum of money, and he doubts if Beatrice would be able to pay it right on time.
He heard her conversation, even though he couldn't make out who she was speaking with and what the person at the other end of the call was saying.
He noticed how disturbed she looked since the call, and he was curious to find out what was wrong.
Ben made his way towards the door, with his phone in his hand and his black shade in his left hand.
Ben opened the door and bumped into Vanessa.
"I'm sorry, sir," Vanessa apologized immediately and moved back while Ben darted his gaze behind her, looking for signs of Beatrice, he wanted to meet with Beatrice before he loses track of her.
"What can I help you with, Vanessa?" Ben asked, not bothering to spare a glance at her.
"I wanted to discuss the scheduled meeting of the Dexan company with you before we proceed," She said staring at her boss wondering why he looked so much in a hurry.
"Do we need to discuss that now?" Ben asked, almost crumpling his face at her, then his blue eyes met with hers, finally looking at his secretary, and she nodded.
"Vanessa, we'll talk about this later," He told her disapprovingly.
Right now, he had a perfect game to play with Beatrice if he gets his hands on it earlier.
"Are you going somewhere?" Vanessa asked him curiously, and Ben's eyes twitched at the corner in annoyance, but Vanessa didn't get the looks he was casting her way.
"I have something to attend to, I'll be back soon," He said otherwise and placed one of his hands on Vanessa's shoulder and pat her in the most gentle way while giving her one of his charming smiles, and she moved aside, clearing the path for Ben.
Ben started walking hurriedly, while Vanessa stared at her boss... she had already met Beatrice on the way, and she looked in a haste too.
'What are those two up to?' She thought eagerly.
Beatrice had gotten to the lobby of the building and used her ID card to pass, so she could exit the building while the elevator in which Ben entered just opened, and he saw Beatrice heading out of the building. He began following as fast as he could but making sure she doesn't see him.
The female workers who met him on the way drool at him, and he had to put on his shades because they kept greeting and smiling at him.
He could see the drools in their eyes...
Beatrice flagged down a cab which parked in front of her immediately and the driver wind down the window while she bent slightly to see his face.
"Please, to the Jay suites," She told the aged driver who had gray bald hair.
"At your service ma'am," The driver smiled at her, and she moved to the back seat and opened the door, she got into the cab smiling at the driver whose eyes twinkled when he looked at her through the reverse mirror and Beatrice closed the door.
The driver drove to the lane while Ben got out of the building, and he was lucky to see the cab Beatrice just entered before he started driving off among other cars on the road.
He sighted his car and ran to the driver's side of the car, his driver got down from the car when he saw his boss and handed him the car keys.
"Thank you," Ben appreciated his driver and hopped into the driver's seat, and closed the door shut immediately.
He started the car in a jiffy and drove to the lane of the road and drive at a high-speed, overtaking the cars that were on his way to be able to meet with the yellow cab Beatrice was in.
