Chapter 25 Twenty five
"This would look really great on you." Cassidy said as she helped Alexa pick the clothes for dinner. Alexa dragged it away from her hand, throwing it on the bed.
"I am a designer. I know what'll look good on me without me having to expose my body."
"A little part wouldn't hurt." Cassidy shrugged and Alexa shot her a look,
"Do you think this is a date?" She asked.
" A dinner...date!" Emphasis on date as Cassidy rolled her eyes, sitting on the bed, while allowing Alexa pick her cloth by herself. Alexa finally settled with a blue long gown that hugged her body from up to down, with singlet straps at the top and falling arms at the shoulders.
"This." Alexa said and Cassidy looked at it.
"It's cool," she said sarcastically and Alexa scoffed, dropping the cloth on the bed as she walked out.
"I'm helping you with your hair!" Cassidy screamed behind her and she smiled before getting into the kids room.
"Kids, I'm going out for dinner with a business partner. You have to stay good." She said and tucked them into bed.
"But mom, we are not ready to sleep yet." Jade got down from the bed and sat on the edge.
"If you are going to go out, why don't you call dad to come play with I and Jace?" She asked and Alexa frowned immediately.
"Daddy is busy. He doesn't have time." Alexa shook her head.
"No, dad said he wouldn't never be too busy for us. Even yesterday, when he picked us from school, he was just coming from a business meeting. Uncle Eugene told us."Jade said and Alexa pursed her lips. Liam hadn't told her he was in a meeting when she had called him.
"Jade, dad can't leave his business to rush to us everytime. He is also a business man like mom." Jace said and AIexa totally agreed immediately but Jade wasn't interested.
"Just call him." She whined.
"Cassidy is going to stay with you guys and she's going to have fun with you, okay?" Alexa said.
"No mom! I want dad."
"Jade, listen to me!" Alexa snapped and Jade blinked, shrinking into the bed as her lids fell. Alexa sighed, patting her head slowly.
"Fine, I'll call him. But if he refuses to come, you can't blame him. He's also busy and can't leave his business for you every single time you ask for him, okay?" She said and Jade nodded slowly.
Alexa walked out of the room as she dialled Liam's number and he picked almost immediately.
"Liam." She called.
"Alexa, how are you doing?"
"The kids want you to come stay with them, I have a dinner meeting which u want to attend." She said immediately.
"Huh," Liam stuttered, sighing slowly, "Alexa. I don't have time. I'm actually busy right now."
"You are busy?" She asked, raising her brows.
"Yes, please tell the kids I promise to come to them next time." He said and she ended the call without replying.
"Kids, your dad is really busy with something right now and he won't be able to come." She said.
"See, I told you." Jace nudged Jade and she pursed her lips. Alexa sighed as she closed the door, going back to her room.
"These kids are going to be the hell of me." She muttered as she got in.
"Wassup?" Cassidy asked, placing a handful of chips into her mouth.
"You are going to hurt your gums with that," Alexa said as she collapsed on the bed, "They want Liam to come stay with them. And unfortunately he's busy." She said.
"Busy with what?" Cassidy asked.
"How the hell am I supposed to know that?"
"You didn't ask?"
"I didn't."
"What does he have to do that's more important than his kids?" Cassidy clicked her tongue and Alexa just shrugged as she went into the bathroom to take her bath.
An hour later, she was done with her dressing and makeup.
"Wow," Cassidy said as she clapped her hands together, "my best friend is a goddess indeed. How did giving birth to those miniatures not wear you out? You are perfect, too perfect."
"You flatter me too much. Oh, I can feel the blush in my eyes." Alexa said sarcastically and Cassidy chuckled.
"I bet you can't!"
Alexa arrived at the five star restaurant a little bit late. The dinner was for eight, but this was few minutes past.
The lights were blinding as she stepped in and almost everyone turned to look at the beautiful lady who stopped into the restaurant.
"Alexa!" She heard Ryder whisper and her eyes lighted up in recognition as she saw him at the corner, so she walked towards him. He pulled out a chair for her like the gentleman he was with a cool smile.
"You were a little bit late." He said as he took his own seat and she nodded.
"Yeah. I'm sorry about that," she smiled.
"What would you like to eat? I can order everything on the menu if you want." He said and she laughed.
"Why would you do that? I can't eat them all up."
"Right, I'm not sure I'll be able to eat anything up while staring at you." He said and she pursed her lips tightly, clearing her throat. She picked up the menu nervously as she started reading through and then she finally settled for some mashed potatoes.
Ryder placed the order and they started talking while they waited for their food.
"So, why did you return here even when you were doing well?" He asked and she shrugged.
"I was born in New York. I just left due to some problems and then I returned to my country when I was stable." She replied.
"Personal problems?" He asked and she nodded as her eyes caught sight of that back she could never forget.
What was Liam doing here?
She scoffed lightly when she saw Stella walked in and her eyes darkened. He was busy by hanging out with Stella? And that was why he couldn't come home for his kids?
