Chapter 99 - His Betrayal
Jeremy
I started on this trip skeptical of how it would go until I got a chance to talk to Lily. It was a sudden shock when she stopped talking to me all together, I couldn’t catch her at school and she wouldn’t respond to my messages. I honestly thought I did or said something that made her pull away, when that was the last thing I wanted. I had wanted to ask her to be my official girlfriend for a while now and was waiting for the right time to ask her. When she started pulling away from me I thought maybe I missed my chance with her.
When I arrived at the campsite I saw everyone setting up their tents and helping get the rest of the supplies set up. I got my stuff situated before making my way over to the rest of the group as they were all sitting and relaxing. I saw Lily get up and walk over to the cooler of water, so I dug up my courage to approach her now. When we started our walk I finally asked her to tell me what I did because I wanted to rectify any mistake I made. When Lily went into her story at first I was confused, but as she started clarifying everything all I could do was smirk because she was jealous she saw me talking to other girls. A huge weight was lifted from my shoulders because now I knew she felt the same way as me. All this agony between us, and it could have been fixed if we could talk to each other better.
As we made our way back to the campsite later after enjoying a long walk together I wanted to make sure we avoid this from happening again in the future. “Lily, next time you question anything or you need to share your feelings on something, we need to talk so we don’t torture ourselves again. I would rather talk out any misunderstanding then go through this again, communication is important if we want this to work.” Lily agreed and said she will make sure she works on that as well. As we walked up to everyone else I could see everyone glancing at us and smiling, my cousin Drew walked up and slapped me on the back “It’s about time you both straightened this out.” He never said anything but I had a feeling the recent discussion we had was to help with this in some sort of way. Josie ran up and hugged Lily telling her she was happy for her and hugged me as well. “Make sure you guys talk from now on, it was horrible for us seeing you both moping around all of us.” Lily just glared at Josie as she laughed and we joined everyone else.
All of our friends grabbed some water and snacks to eat quickly before we all went walking over to where they had the horseback riding. Some of us had done this while there were a few that had never done this before. We decided to do this to have as much fun while we were on this trip, but also to give the adults some time to relax on their own we even brought Lily and Josie’s younger siblings with us. Lily and I did see her mom pull out a bottle of wine while the guys got out their beers, they said they would work on getting dinner started on the grill while we were out. It made us all feel good that we could also give them some time to themselves since they let all of us join in on this trip as well. Lily’s parents have always made me feel welcome when Lily and I would hang out and I have always appreciated that.
Lily
We are on our final day of the camping trip, all of us have had a lot of fun relaxing and visiting with each other. Jeremy and I have spent time with our friends but we have made a point to take time for ourselves as well. There were times we made it a point to go off on walks together or doing other activities to enjoy that private time together. My mom pulled me aside one morning and told me that she was happy for me and that she could see a huge difference in me since Jeremy and I talked. I guess my parents were concerned about me because they could tell I was more depressed and seemed to isolate myself from everyone during the misunderstanding with Jeremy. If anything, this whole experience has taught me that I need to put my fears aside and not be afraid to talk to my boyfriend or friends. I still can’t believe Jeremy and I are now official boyfriend and girlfriend, I get butterflies in my stomach everytime I think about these changes.
Jeremy and I have been talking about how things will be when we get back, he will be busy learning his fathers business and I will be finishing my senior year. We both agreed that while those things are important we need to make our relationship a priority as well. We both wanted this to work out so we planned to spend some evenings together and part of the weekend as well unless we had other obligations. We discussed how we would approach any problems with each other as well so that way we know when there is an important discussion that we need to sit down and have.
Today though we wanted to just spend the day relaxing with our friends, we had music playing while some of us played bags and others were out doing other activities on the campgrounds. None of us wanted to pack up to go home in the morning but like all vacations, they all eventually come to an end. After losing a game playing bags with my parents, Jeremy and I went and sat down off to the side to watch Joey and Josie play them. “So, when we get back I was thinking after we unload everything, you and I could go out for dinner together and then maybe go sit out by the lake. I enjoyed this time together but I am ready for us to have time alone just the two of us without our family and other friends around. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with anyone here but it is hard to really get that quality time together without the fear of your parents or siblings stumbling upon us here.” I had to chuckle at his words because what he said was very true, even when we would go on walks together, we would run into someone eventually. I am just thankful our parents didn’t wander upon us when we were in the middle of making out, or in the middle of the night when we would just curl up together and spend the time talking until late at night.
“Sounds perfect, that gives me something to look forward to when we get home. Do you mind if I ride with you on the way back home, it will give Josie and Joey time alone since I rode here with them.” Jeremy smiled at me and said he looked forward to our trip home. We enjoyed our evening with our family and friends then while they all sat around the fire Jeremy and I walked over to the site with his tent. As soon as I zipped up the tent Jeremy pulled me into his arms and pulled me into a deep kiss, soon we were down on his sleeping bag our hands roaming over each other. When his hands made it under my shirt and were cupping my breasts I moaned into his mouth. “Lily, this is driving me crazy, but if we are going to go any further, it will not be like this or this close to our families. I want to make this special for us, and hopefully it will be soon.”
I laid back breathless, “I know you are right and this is driving me crazy too, but you’re right. I want this next step to be special for us too.” I know that as long as we both work hard at talking better instead of making assumptions things will work out good for us. As I laid back in his arms we just spent the time talking about anything and everything. I could see a future with him, mainly because we have known each other for so long. I know everything won’t be perfect but everything that happened up to this point was a good lesson.
