Chapter 93 - His Betrayal
Josie
When we pulled up to the bed and breakfast I was shocked, mainly because when he shared that he had a surprise I didn’t expect him to take me on such a long trip. It was such a cute place and had such character, I got out of his car and looked at my surroundings. “Do our parents know about this Joey? I don’t want you to get in trouble for taking up this far from home overnight.” He walked up to me and took my hand in his, “It is longer than overnight, and yes both of our parents know about this. It took some convincing to get your parents to agree but I got it, and in fact, your mother put together a bag for you since we will be here for a long weekend.” A huge smile appeared on her face and she jumped into my arms, “I can’t believe you were able to do all of this! I can’t wait to see what you have planned, let's go get checked in so we can enjoy as much of this day that is left as we can.”
We grabbed our bags and got immediately checked into our room. Joey made sure we had two double beds in our room, he wanted to make sure I was comfortable since this trip was for a long weekend. We unpacked our bags and got situated then I wanted to scope out the property and Joey told me to go ahead while he got everything together with what he had planned for today. Joey gave me a kiss and said he should be ready within the hour and to meet him back in the room and then we would head out. My curiosity peaked but I willingly left while he put his plans together.
An hour later I went back to the room and I was amazed by the gorgeous property and how quiet it was since the property was in a remote place. He drove us to the state park stating that since there was not as much of the day left we would only have time to do this before heading back to eat and calling it a night. We walked around the park and it was peaceful and Joey and I just enjoyed the peace around us. We walked for about a half hour when Joey and I came upon the river and I saw that it was a spot to rent canoes. Joey continued to walk up to the river, his hand still holding mine, apparently he had already arranged a rental. He got into the canoe and then held out his hand again for me to take for help getting in.
Joey and I sat in the canoe and he maneuvered us around the river and we both just relaxed and enjoyed how quiet it was around us. Joey continued for a while until we came across a section where he pulled up to the bank and there was a large flat rock slab. He guided me up there where we sat and relaxed and stared out at the river. “I am glad we get to do this together, I honestly thought asking our parents wouldn’t go well especially with your father. Honestly, he was the one that took the longest to convince but your mother helped me in the end. I wanted us to be able to do this trip and spend time together before our big group camping trip and then the crazy college schedules.” He pulled me onto his lap, “I know our relationship is newer but we have known each other all of our lives and I feel everything we do together is natural. I know we still have college still ahead of us but I feel this is the next natural step for us at this point.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a box, “Now don’t be scared this is not an engagement ring.”
He cracked open the box and in there sat a white sapphire heart with diamond accents, “This is a promise ring is a symbol of a dedication to our future. I will be there to support you in your time of need, no matter how big or small. Now that I have you I can’t see a future without you and me together and I plan on making it more permanent once we are done with school.” Hearing his words had my body reacting in ways that made me what to be nothing but even to him. I held out my hand and he slipped the ring on my finger, and then I pulled him in for a kiss. Within no time we were both deepening the kiss to the point that we had to break apart to be able to breathe.
“Why don’t we head back now so we can make it back in enough time to eat dinner there. Tomorrow will be a new day and I have a couple of ideas of places to try if you are interested.” He winked at me as he helped me up and we made our way back to the canoe so we could head back. I couldn’t get the grin off my face the whole way back, I found myself continuously looking at the exquisite ring he gave me. I never saw this coming but he was right, everything seemed so natural with us and it just seemed right. We will always be here to support each other no matter what happens. I was so touched by his actions today, I was trying to come up with a way to show how grateful I was. I had to think of a way to show him I was invested in this relationship as much as he is and I will find a way to signify that for him as well. We walked back through the park so we could drive back to the bed and breakfast. The whole way there we didn’t stop holding hands and I was looking forward to this time we will be spending to ourselves.
