Chapter 85 - His Betrayal

Joey

I dropped Josie off at her classroom this morning and I have been counting down the minutes until lunch. I have been playing around with a few ideas for us to do tonight I was going to take her mini golfing at first but since she does not want to do anything sport related I knew there was a few other options, I know how much she loves to read and I remember that they had an adult craft class tonight there open to the community. I looked online to see if we had to register and took care of that while we had some independent work time in class. It would be something new for us to try together while also feeding her love of reading because I am sure she will want to browse the library as well. It was not an exciting activity but I know it is something she will enjoy especially if we are doing it together.

I walked into the school cafeteria and my eyes gravitated to her immediately, smiling. I walked and grabbed something to eat then went and kissed her on the top of her head sitting next to her after noticing my greeting caused her to blush. It was too cute how she responded to me, I know it might take her a little while to get used to me being affectionate with her in public. We were enjoying ourselves when we suddenly heard were interrupted from our bliss by an annoying voice. I couldn’t believe not only was Angela cutting into the little time we had for lunch together but to top it off she had the nerve to insult Josie of all people. Josie who is nice to everyone no matter how rude they can be to her, and would do anything for someone in need. Josie went to speak up but I placed my hand on top of her shoulder as I stood and motioned for her to stop. This was a problem that I needed to take care of and not her.

“Angela, I don’t know where you thought it was in your rights to talk about Josie like that. Even if we were still dating, I would never allow you to talk to her like that because she will always come first in my life. We didn’t even date that long and you are acting like she stole me from you when it was me who ended our relationship based on your attitude and actions. Josie is a more beautiful person inside and out than you will ever be, so I suggest you turn around and walk away and keep your comments to yourself.” Angela just looked at me like she was sucking on a lemon, she scoffed and said, “This isn’t over Joey, she does not deserve to be with you and I will make you see that if it’s the last thing I do.”

“Angela, you will never get me to ever see that so I suggest you just give up and find some other person you can manipulate because it will not be me.” She just rolled her eyes and walked back over to where she was sitting before and I sat back down with Josie. “You know she will not just walk away, she doesn't like to be told no and will try to make us miserable.” I hate that Josie had to deal with the tantrum that my ex was throwing. “Josie, we will get through this, you remember how my dad told us the story about one of his ex-friends that was insane and tried to mess with my parents' relationship. She nodded because that was a story they shared with us when we got older. It was a part of their past that they wanted to share with us so we found out the actual facts of the events from them instead of someone else.

“Like with them, we will find our way through this too. I want to get to know you in this new dynamic between us and I will not let her come between us. I have something planned for us today after school and I intend to enjoy our time together without letting Angela get in the way, how about you?” She just nodded and took my hand, “I can’t wait to see what you planned for us tonight, as long as it does not require me to do anything sport related that is.” I just started to laugh at her comment, “Don’t worry, I heard you before and it is not sport related don’t worry.”

We finished up lunch then walked towards our classes, I kissed her goodbye before continuing to my class. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Angela scowling at us from the end of the hallway.

Josie

I could not understand why she was acting this way. Joey did raise a good point in the lunchroom, that they had not dated that long and she was acting like it was a long term relationship that they had. I just rolled my eyes and went into the classroom not wanting to feed into her drama. I remember all the details that my mom told me Aunt Jessie and Uncle Morgan went through and it was starting to remind me of Angela a bit. Why would you try to go after someone that clearly does not want anything to do with you anymore. It is a bit unsettling, but I decided not to let this event overtake my mind for the afternoon and I focused on my class.

The rest of my day passed by uneventfully and I was thankful, Joey and I walked out to his car, “So where are you taking me? I will have to admit I am curious what you found for us to do together.” Joey just smiled and said to enjoy the ride and not to worry it was something I would enjoy. I sat in the seat trying to figure out what he could have set up for us to do that he knew that I would enjoy. As we were getting ready to pull out of our spot I felt a sudden violent jolt that threw me to the side. All I could hear was the smashing of glass and then there was darkness.
