Chapter 43: Pregnancy Suits You
Colton could never hurt her, he knew that in his heart and he thought she knew what kind of a man he is. She should know by now that he would never do something like that to her. He was also trying his best to restrain the emotions surging through him.
After their divorce, there was not a single day when he had not thought about her, about the time they spent together in the span of around three years. Though it was just one night of the week that he spent with her, she had made a place for herself in his life.
She was a habit that he could not let go of even if she had. Closing his eyes, he opened them again, and his tone of voice had calmed down, “All right, let us just go back inside. You don’t need to get so worked up about it!”
Giselle was not at peace though, she realized that the seeds of doubt had now been sown in Colton’s head, and knowing him, he was going to be a dog with a bone! She had to be ten thousand times more careful than she was before.
Tanner was waiting at the door to the hotel, and though he had told Giselle that he was going to the room to keep Zana company, he had come back down as soon as Zana fell asleep. He was relieved to see her safe and sound, “Giselle.”
“Sorry Tanner, I made you worry about me.” Giselle smiled embarrassedly at him.
“It’s okay.” Tanner smiled softly and could not help reaching out and hugging her in a warm embrace.
Colton, who was a few feet away watched the way both lovers were hugging without giving care to the world around them, he lost the mood of wanting to spend some alone time with her. His eyes held anger and hatred in them, he simply stomped past them even when Tanner tried to talk to him.
Giselle was startled by this sudden change in Colton’s attitude, and subconsciously opened her mouth and called out his name “Colton…” but her words seemed to have fallen on deaf ears because Colton walked away as if she did not exist for him.
Without uttering so much as a single word, Colton walked away from them. Giselle felt a little sad in her heart, but this was their fate, they were never meant to be together from the very beginning!
She looked up at Tanner and in the direction in which Colton disappeared, and hesitantly asked him “Do you think I am doing the right thing here, Tanner?”
Tanner heaved a sigh raking a hand through his hair and glancing after Colton’s silhouette he said, “I can’t tell you whether your decision is a fair one or not as I don’t know your whole story, but as a father myself, I would appreciate it if the mother of my child would have given me a say in her pregnancy.”

Giselle’s PoV
What Tanner said made sense coz if I was in Colton’s position, I would definitely want to be a part of such a life – changing decision, but if I was Colton, I would also not think about the other person wants and just push my decision on them!
“Did something happen between the both of you during your drive over?” I looked at him quizzically “I am just asking coz he looked pissed!”
I sighed wrapping my arms around myself as I pulled my coat tight around me “It’s nothing bad! He was just being his usual cocky self.” I caught Tanner glancing sideways at me with a lopsided smile on his lips “What?”
Tanner shrugged his shoulders “Nothing, I did not say anything!”
I narrowed my eyes at him knowing well what was going on in his mind “I know what you are thinking, and it is nowhere close to what the truth is!”
“Whatever floats your boat” I backhanded his chest playfully “Oww… woman you got one hell of an arm on you!”
“That did not even hurt you! Drama Queen” I was loud when I mocked him and the people passing by us snickered hearing that.
“Ms. Giselle Smith, you are ruining my reputation!” now Tanner was mocking me with his hand placed on his chest. An easy smile graced his lips “Just be careful and make sure you are taking the decisions keeping the consequences in mind. The truth will come out one day or the other, so you need to be prepared for that!”
I wish I knew if my decision was right or wrong coz my mind and my heart were in a constant battle over this, and I seem to be at crossroads each time! I wish Colton was not so against having kids, that would have made things easier for everybody.
My eyes automatically went to Colton’s silhouette, he was waiting for the elevators with Wanda, and she has her arms wrapped around his. From the looks of it, he didn’t mind it!
“Do you regret it?” I heard Tanner’s voice, but my eyes seemed to have a mind of their own as they never left the sight of him even if my mind was telling me this was a lost cause.
Zana was already asleep when I came in with Tanner, so I just went back to my room, and took a nice warm bath where I almost fell asleep in the bathtub.
I managed to walk out of the bathroom wrapped in my bath towel, I did not have the strength in me to even change into my clothes. I fell asleep just after I pulled the quilt over me, the warmth under the quilt lulled me to sleep.
I slept like a baby for God knows how long before I woke up startled by my phone “What time is it?” I grumbled and sat up in bed, there was no light in the room, so I guess I slept through the whole afternoon and evening. I grabbed my phone and saw that the time was six in the evening “Shit!”
My phone started ringing again and this time I made sure to pick up the call “Giselle, I hope you have rested well considering that you slept through the whole afternoon not even bothering to come and have lunch with us!”
“I was just too tired”
“That does not mean you skip meals like this” I could hear the worry in his voice.
“Fine! I am sorry, did you guys have dinner?” my stomach rumbled reminding me that I need to fill it with food and soon!
I heard Tanner chuckle “Well, I heard that loud and clear” I heard Zana giggling and Tanner’s laugh “We are in the restaurant downstairs, that was the reason I was blowing up your phone!
Tanner and Zana were giggling while Zana was stuffing her face with cupcakes and pastries “Looks like you are enjoying your cakes without me, Ally baby.”
“Auntie Giiiii… I was worried bad man take you… dada call you many times” she was squealing in her little voice trying her best to sound worried, but the cake smudged around her cute little mouth did not help me stop myself from smiling.
“Awww… no bad man is strong enough to take auntie Gi away, my little angel” I wiped her mouth clean and hugged her in a tight embrace.
I ordered everything that was tangy and did not have a strong aroma to it. When I was taking Zana to the buffet to pick our food, I happened to run into Colton who was also coming over, and with Wanda beside him.
They were both dressed in casual clothes, and they looked good together. The usual scowl that he would have around me was not there, he still had that indifferent look, but there was no coldness in it.
Colton turned his head towards me and caught me looking at him, I had to hurriedly look down at my plate “Auntie Gi, what happened? Why you look down suddenly?” I looked up at Zana and saw Tanner giving me a sad smile while shaking his head!
I knew then that Tanner caught me staring at Colton too! So, it was not just Colton that saw my embarrassment but Tanner too “It’s nothing sweetheart, I just thought I saw someone that looked like my friend, but she wasn’t!”
Tanner was staring at me as if to say, ‘Really Giselle!’ so I gave him a smile to say, ‘Bugger off!’
“Are we announcing the date today?” That nasal voice that grates on my nerves managed to fall on my ears ‘What date is she talking about? Is it about their engagement or is it their marriage date?’ My grip on the spoon I was holding tightened to the point that I felt the spoon dig into my palm!
