Chapter 39: Dimpled Temptation
Chapter 39: Dimpled Temptation
Giselle pursed her lower lip and said nothing. To be honest, after divorcing Colton, she did not plan to find anyone to marry again. According to her, marriage was too tiring, but she realized that Tanner was right. Raising a child was not going to be easy for a single parent.
Touching her belly over her clothes, she was confused and needed to talk to someone coz when the baby is born things will change. After a long time, she looked unsure, but it was as if she had made up her mind, she nodded slowly “Ok… let me think about it.”
Tanner looked at her with a gentle smile and then looked at Zana, he felt a little relieved even though he thought that he had rushed her. In the next two days, Giselle never met Colton on the cruise ship again. The cruise ship was pretty big. She often took Zana on a stroll around the floors in the evening, so it’s no surprise that she did not see him.
When the cruise ship docked on the coast of Europe on the morning of the third day, Giselle and Tanner had lined up for the downstream ferry along with Zana and saw Colton’s silhouette in front of them. After they got down, the hotel sent cars for the passengers to be picked up and brought to the hotel.
Giselle sat in the car and looked at the scenery passing by her window. The streets were clean and tidy, giving people a very comfortable feeling. Giselle felt a sense of familiarity and a feeling of loss. When the car reached the city center, she asked the driver to stop the car.
“Tanner, you and Zana go back to the hotel first. I just want to walk around.” Giselle took out the camera from her travel bag and said with a smile “I don’t think I will get another opportunity to visit here. It will be a shame not to take some photos.”
“No, you are pregnant, Giselle and you want to walk around? You need to be more mindful and take care of yourself. I will accompany you with Zana” Tanner looked worried and insisted on staying with Giselle.
However, Giselle refused and smiled helplessly, “I am only three months along, Tanner, and who said I should not walk? I know that I should be careful, and I will be. Besides, I have my phone with me, don’t I? I will call you as soon as I get tired or feel uncomfortable, ok?”
“Well, then pay attention and call me if something happens even if you think it’s something very small and insignificant… and do not stress yourself, got it?” Seeing Giselle’s insistence, Tanner gave up.
“All right, mother, I will be super careful!” Giselle rolled her eyes “Now, go!” After watching the taxi leave, Giselle walked slowly along the streets, admiring the surrounding scenery, and would stop to take a few pictures when she saw a good sight or building.
Giselle’s PoV
I was soaking in the warm sun rays and enjoying my walk around the beautiful streets and my mood gradually improved.
I was so engrossed in enjoying the scenery that I did not realize when it turned dark, the surroundings were brightly lit, and there were small stalls on the street in the distance, from where people coming and going, and it was very lively “I have been walking around for so long.” I raised my hand and looked at my watch, my eyebrows wrinkled slightly.
Fearing that Tanner would be worried about me, I quickly took out the mobile phone from my handbag and planned to call him. After I took it out, I found that the phone was turned off without power, I looked in the bag again for the power cable, luckily, I had the charging cable with me.
Now I just had to find a place where I could charge my phone. I stood on the sidewalk and looked around “Shit!” I cursed under my breath and was glad when I found a café a few blocks away “Oh, thank God!”
I went inside the café, it was more of a bookstore with a café inside, just the kind of place to sit and unwind while reading a good book “Excuse me, can I plug my phone in charge?”
The barista who had his back to me turned at the sound of my voice, he was super cute with dimples, 6ft tall, and a body that gave the impression that he took great care of it “Yes, but you have to pay for it.”
I looked at him baffled that he would ask someone to pay for charging their phone ‘What kind of person is he?’ “Don’t look at me like that. I meant that you need to order something that will help you kill time while your phone charges.” He gave me a dimpled smile that could make any woman fall at his feet.
Relief washed over me when I realized that he was just joking with me and my look of worry must have turned into a smile coz he smiled too “That’s more like it, you are a pretty woman, and that is one hell of a killer smile.”
“Are you flirting with me?” I asked playfully, there was just something about him that made me feel at ease.
“What if I am?” this time his easy smile turned into a lopsided one that made him look like a bad boy that is about to get you into trouble.
I shook my head “I am too old for you, but thank you for the compliment, and I will take a blueberry slush and a chocolate croissant, oh, and a chicken jalapeno sandwich with lots of pickles in it. The more the better!”
“Coming right up and that’s twenty euros” I paid the bill and sat at a table that had a charging point near it. I grabbed ‘A Gentleman of Leisure by P G Woodhouse’.
“I didn’t take you for a P G Woodhouse fan” I was kind of liking the book and lost in it when the barista interrupted me.
I closed the book using my fingers as a bookmarker “It’s a good book.”
“And hope the food and your slushie tastes just as good as the book, or maybe better” he gave me a wink placing my food and the drink on my table.
