CHAPTER 75
"Aren't you concerned?" Tiffany asked.
"About what?" She took her hand off the machine in front of her.
"She said she talked to J'onn, and she just listened to our conversation. I think."
"She definitely heard us, but she has no proof. Words can be denied also. Even if he did know I was pregnant, he has no proof that it's his."
Tiffany shook her head in disbelief. "I don't know who is more crazy. You or Mara."
"It is unfortunate you don't believe J'onn is smart enough to put things together with a little bit of information."
Onn glared at her best friend. "Stop putting those thoughts into my mind."
Tiffany let out a sigh, massaging her temple.
As soon as Mara was out of Bonnie's office, she took the elevator and went straight down to where she worked. When she arrived, she picked up her phone from her desk and went to her recent calls and called the person she wanted to talk to.
Having finally succeeded in getting Tiffany out of her office, Bonnie resumed burying herself in work since that was the only thing that could get her mind off her problems.
She lost all track of time as she worked as hard as possible to complete the project she was working on.
Knowing how late it already was, Onn started getting ready to head home by shutting down her laptop first before she would start packing her bag.
She had just finished shutting down her system when someone knocked on her door. She did not even get the time to respond when the person entered.
"I came to bid you farewell. Or do you want me to assist you with something?" Tiffany remarked, entering with her handbag.
"No, no, I will be going soon as well."
"Good. Inform me if you won't be in a position to come to work tomorrow. Do not strain yourself too much if you're not able. I can always get everything arranged for you in your absence."
"Sometimes I resent that you worry about me so much. I'm fine, and I'll be here tomorrow." Onn sighed as she rose to her feet. "Working keeps my mind off my problems, so I'll definitely be here."
"Yeah, I forgot how stubborn you could be," Tiffany said, walking towards her. "Take care of yourself and make sure that you call me if need be." She said, hugging Bonn.
"Yeah, thanks."
"My regards to the newest big sister."
Onn rolled her eyes at Tiffany.
"Do not look at me like that. And you should tell her the news. It is going to bring you so much peace of mind."
"Go, you should!"
"Yeah, you do the most in attempting to switch topics."
Bonn shrugged, "if need be."
"You are something else, for real. I gotta go. My ride is waiting." Tiffany blew Onn a kiss after she walked out of her office.
Bonn started packing her things in her bag. The last thing she put in her handbag was her phone, and the moment she tucked her handbag under her arm, ready to vacate her desk area, Bonn's eyes caught a contact card on her desk. She was momentarily puzzled about where it was from, but by stretching for it and taking a close look, she saw Dr. Tais's name on it.
Bonnie sighed, ripped the card into pieces, and tossed it in the trash then exited her office.
Bonn was already in the parking lot heading towards her car when she saw a familiar car enter the lot.
She sighed in relief, recognizing that it was her boss.
Giving him time to settle, Onn went to her car and threw her handbag onto the front passenger seat before she started the car engine, shutting the door.
"Bonnie, good to see you!" Mr. Brian Robert's warm voice was heard as he approached her, and the two of them met halfway.
"I can say the same about you too." The two of them shared a half hug.
"I've been wanting to see you." She opened up to him.
"Yeah, Tiffany told me you weren't feeling too good yesterday, so you had to leave. Hope you're feeling better now?"
"Yes, I am. Thanks. She also told me the news."
