Chapter 51 She Called Me Mama
Darcy's POV
My eyelids flutter open as the sun rays seep from the window. I raise my hand to block the rays from my face.
I look a bit lower on the bed and see Hazel sleeping peacefully. She sprawls between Adrian and I.
After we return from our date, Adrian insisted that he wants to be alone with me. But Hazel wouldn't let him have his way.
I remember her clinging onto me like I would disappear. And as for Adrian, he didn't stop grumbling and complaining till we slept off.
My eyes light up as I watch Adrian. He looks so beautiful while sleeping. His long lashes, sharp jawline, straight nose... I still can't believe this man is mine.
A bright smile creeps onto my face as memories from last night flood my head. I'm officially not just a girlfriend but one to one of the top billionaires in the country.
He makes me feel safe, loved, seen. What more can I ask for?
"Enjoying the view?" His deep morning voice startles me, making me gasp.
His eyes are still closed but a sly smirk dances on the corners of his lips. When did he wake up?
"What's wrong with admiring my man?" I ask, rolling my eyes.
My man?
That's new and... nice.
My smile widens.
"Absolutely nothing. I do check you out too," he finally opens his eyes.
"Shamelessly at that," I add with a scoff and he shrugs.
He raises his head and rests it on his hand. The roles reverse as he stares at me from my lips to my eyes and then back to my lips.
My heartbeat quickens and I clutch onto the duvet. Swallowing the lump in my throat.
Why am I suddenly shy? It's not like we haven't kissed before.
"Come here!" He orders quietly but enough to send shivers down my spine.
Adrian has a dominant side?
He didn't bat his lashes as his gaze focuses on me. Several thoughts run through my head but none of it is a disapproval.
"Darcy!" He calls again and this time slower.
Without waiting for me to respond, he comes closer, wraps his hands around me and flips me over Hazel, so I am laying on him.
My jaw drops and I curl my toes. His cologne fills my nostrils. My mind becomes numb.
"You kept me waiting for this moment. It would be unfair if I'm to continue waiting. Don't you think so?" He questions and I just gulp.
The look in his eyes matches the tone of his voice. The unmistakable hunger makes butterflies fill my stomach.
He pulls me closer with his hand wrapped around the back of my neck. He inhales my scent before trailing kisses down my neck.
Slow. Light. Intentional.
Instinctively, my eyes snap shut as I bite my lower lip that has suddenly dried up.
"Ad.. Adrian?" I stutter.
"Hmmm," he replies but doesn't stop.
Our heartbeats race in synchronization. Goosebumps creeps onto my skin.
Before my brain could register what is going on, he flips us over. He is now at the top and I, beneath him.
But he is careful not to crush me with his weight.
I press my hands against his chest as he tries to continue. Adrian furrows his eyebrow.
"Hazel is still sleeping," I inform him in a whisper.
"Exactly what she's supposed to do," he says and tries to lean closer again but I cover my mouth with my hands.
My morning breath. What if it disgusts him? No man has ever kissed me with my morning breath.
He just stares at me with clenched jaw. His patience is running thin.
We stay like that for some seconds before I slowly remove my hands. Earlier, he told me he doesn't like waiting.
Maybe I can explain to him.
"My morning breath... we can kiss later," I suggest with a nervous smile plaster on my face but he keeps mute.
"Babe, I..." The remaining words could not get out as he tilts his head and captures my lips in his. His mouth was warm and tasted like honey mixed with rum.
My senses were soon out of the window. I circle my arms around his neck, pulling him impossibly closer.
His kiss turns deeper, and more demanding. Unfortunately, I can't keep up with his pace.
The kiss is slow, yet intense.
He break the kiss. My breath is shallow as he leaves me yearning for more. He trails kisses down to my collarbone. Before moving back up to my jaw and then below my ear.
My fingers dig into his skin and I wrap my legs around his waist. My lips part as I suck in more air.
"Beautiful. " He says in a low voice. His eyes pierce mine.
Seconds turn to minutes as we look at each other. Searching our souls. No questions are asked.
I palm his cheeks and he relaxes into my hands. My heart melts.
"I love you with every fiber of my being," he groans and tucks his face in the nape of my neck.
My hands shift to massage the scalp of his hair. "I love you too," I reply.
We stay like that. At the moment, nothing else matters.
Hazel coughs and I raise my head to look at her. Adrian didn't bother.
Hazel is staring back at us. No usual morning smile.
Maybe I spoke too soon. She matters a lot.
"Hi baby," I coos nervously and struggle to push Adrian off but he didn't budge.
"Adrian, get off. Hazel is awake," I murmur.
"Give her sleeping pills."
I gasp loudly and slap his arm. "Don't ever say that again. Besides when did you become like this? Dominant and possessive?"
"Honestly, I really don't like sharing. You're mine," he insists.
"I disagree. I also belong to Hazel," I argue and immediately, he raise his head to look at me. Not impressed.
"Ma...ma," Hazel calls.
Time freeze as I try to comprehend if I heard the correct thing.
"Hazel baby, what did you say?" I ask with a shaky voice. Tears sting my eyes.
She puts her fingers in her mouth before repeating it. "Ma...ma."
My tears broke lose, flow freely. With all the strength I can muster, I shove Adrian away and he lands on the floor with a thud.
"Ouch!" He hiss but I don't pay him any attention as I kneel on the bed and carry Hazel, who is now beaming.
"Babe, did you hear that?" I ask looking at Adrian and he nods with a bright smile.
I shift my gaze back to Hazel and start peppering her with kisses. She giggles as she drools on my face.
Hazel just called me Mama. My heart swells with joy, pride, and love.
Adrian soon joins us back on the bed and frowns.
"You sure know how to steal my woman's attention. I still can't believe your first word is mama. What happens to me then?"
I smack him and Hazel just laughs.
"I won't let you bully my child," I hug Hazel to my chest and continue. "She just said her first word and it calls for celebration," my smile widens.
"I'll prepare anything you want," I brag and stand up from the bed, carrying Hazel as we walk towards the door.
"Babe! Are you choosing her over me?" Adrian question with a frown.
"My baby stole my heart first," I smirk and ran out of the room laughing.
I've always seen Hazel as my favorite person. But hearing her call me mama is exactly the confirmation I need.
I may not be her mother by blood but she's my first born child.
