Chapter 99 BROKEN DISTANCE

Chapter 99 BROKEN DISTANCE
Godiva POV

The next day at school, during the lunch break, Dina and I went to the admin block to check out the validated exam timetable that was commencing in about two weeks.

On our way back to class, at the hallway, I coincidentally bumped into Leo, or maybe it wasn’t a coincidence from his path.

“Sorry,” I muttered nonchalantly, attempting to walk away when Leo suddenly dragged me back by my hand.

“What nonsense is this?” I asked calmly.

“I just figured you’re a big problem. Seeing how two men have toyed with you in barely six months, it’s really surprising,” Leo mocked, putting on his annoying face.

Clenching my fist, I wanted to land him a well-deserved punch, but I controlled myself.

Attempting to walk away the second time, he quickly rushed and stood right in front of me again.

“You’re just desperate for men, just like your Mama, so I heard,” Leo sneered with a smirk that showed how pleased he was with himself.

I had just raised my hand to slap him hard when Dina quickly grabbed my wrist.

“Dina, let me go now,” I threatened furiously.

“See how reasonable your friend is...” Leo continued mockingly.

“You know you’re already on the principal’s blacklist, so let me do this for you,” Dina cut in sharply.

Immediately she said those words, she swiftly turned to Leo and kicked him right in the balls.

Everything happened so fast that I barely processed it. It was only when Leo groaned in pain and squatted, clutching himself desperately, trying his best not to let out a scream.

“Damn, go girl!” I cheered Dina on, laughing really hard.

“Do not, in your entire life, try anything stupid again,” Dina warned coldly while Leo continued groaning in pain.

We were about to walk away from him when Slosh suddenly stepped in. Using his legs, he violently pushed Leo to the ground from his squatting position.

Then turning to me, concern flooded his face.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly.

“Oh yes, I am. Thank you,” I responded with a smile, which he reciprocated with an even cuter one.

“Let’s rush to class. The Math teacher is already on his way there,” Slosh announced, attempting to hold my hand as we hurried toward class.

“There’s no need for that,” I said softly, slipping my hand away while increasing my pace.

All through lectures that day, Jerald kept stealing glances at me, and I ignored him completely, not giving a shit about him.

I watched his eyes squint with anger as I laughed at the many hilarious things Slosh had to say.

“Girl, I think Slosh likes you,” Dina whispered while we stayed back in class during lunch break.

“Eww, don’t say that. Whose side are you really on?” I teased with a smile.

“Definitely Jerald’s side,” she responded immediately, smiling harder.

After the lunch break, we had more classes before closing for the day. School that day felt unusually fast for me.

“Girl, do we stay back to read for the examinations or go home?” Dina asked, packing her books into her bag.

“What reading are you talking about? Girl, we still have over two weeks to read and prepare, so count me out,” I laughed in disbelief.

Usually, I was the one who pestered us to read, sometimes even a month before exams, but this time around, it was the complete opposite. Maybe because we had just finished killing ourselves studying for the competition, or maybe I simply didn’t care anymore.

“Exactly what I needed to hear!” Dina exclaimed with a clap, smiling excitedly.

“Wow, so you fooled me?” I gasped, attempting to pinch her as she dashed toward the door.

“Ouch!” Dina cried in pain as she violently hit her head against Hakeem’s chest at the exit.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked Hakeem calmly, walking over to Dina, whose hands were still glued to her head.

“Nothing,” he responded with a mischievous smile.

“If nothing is wrong, then you should know you’re standing in our way,” I barked at Hakeem, who stood right in front of the exit door with his arms stretched wide, blocking everywhere.

“Be nice and polite, Kiddo,” Hakeem teased, smiling even harder.

“Eww!” I exclaimed dramatically, pretending like I wanted to puke. “Don’t ever call me your kiddo, Hakeem Mike,” I threatened, pointing a finger at him as I forcefully removed his hands from the door.

Dina and I walked home that day, interacting nonstop. We took a stop at the skatepark to get some ice cream that would help deal with the scorching heat blazing from the sun.

“Will you come skating today?” Ray, one of our skating friends, shouted from a distance.

“Maybe. We’ll come. It’s under probability,” I responded with an obvious fake smile.

“We are coming to skate, right?” Dina asked eagerly after I answered him.

“Obviously not, bro. Didn’t you see the sarcastic smile I gave?” I laughed hard.

“I don’t care about your sarcasm. You consented already, and I’ll hold you by your words, mi lady,” Dina teased dramatically, taking a bow before walking away.

“Are you really leaving me?” I screamed, running after her and trying to catch up as we continued our walk back home.

“I almost forgot to ask, how was your first day not talking to Jerald?” Dina asked out of the blue, instantly making my countenance change.

“It wasn’t bad. Surprisingly, the day went by fast,” I responded solemnly.

Back at home, Dina and I ate mashed potatoes with steak before going our separate ways to change out of our uniforms. We were both starving since we had ditched lunch at school.

I lay on my bed, scrolling through my phone, when I realized there was no one to talk to since I wasn’t speaking to Jerald anymore and Dina was just a stone’s throw away from me.

Just when I started worrying about that, I got a streak from Slosh on Snapchat.

Soon, we both began sending unnecessary streaks to each other throughout the entire afternoon. And when we weren’t sending streaks, we were busy dissing some annoying teachers at school.

“What girl, you’re not even dressed for skating?” Dina barked furiously.

“I’m truly sorry, Di. I lost track of time. Give me a sec, I’ll be done dressing,” I assured her, jumping off the bed immediately.

“Who were you chatting with and smiling so broadly to?” Dina asked suspiciously, raising her brows at me as we approached the skatepark.

“Nobody,” I denied quickly before smiling and running straight into the skatepark.

“Amor!”

“Diva!”

Ben’s voice echoed from behind, and both Dina and I halted at the exact same time before turning slowly to confirm if it was really him.

“What? Jerald, really?” I exclaimed furiously the second my eyes landed on Jerald.
