Chapter 147 The Perfect Show
Chapter 147 The Perfect Show
Godiva's POV
Stepping into the cafeteria, Slosh extended his hand.
"Can I hold you?" he asked hopefully.
"Okay, but why?" I replied hesitantly, leaving his hand hanging in the air.
"Just trust me on this. Come on," he urged with such confidence that I almost believed he was being sincere.
"Alright, but Di has to come with me," I replied, forcing a smile while keeping my hand firmly intertwined with Dina's.
"It's not a problem," he conceded, lowering his hand after realizing I had no chance of getting separated from Dina.
He led us through the busy cafeteria to an empty table positioned right in the middle of the hall.
"This is going to be fun," Dina whispered excitedly into my ear as we took our seats.
We had barely settled down when Lis walked into the cafeteria in her usual bossy fashion, locking arms with Jerald while Ben and Hakeem followed closely behind.
A wave of irritation washed over me at the sight of Jerald linking arms with Lis, but I couldn't afford to act rashly when we were this close to the finish line. All I could do was glare at both of them, and judging from the brief flicker in Jerald's eyes, I was certain he noticed.
"Hey," Lis taunted, blowing me a mocking kiss before settling at the table right beside ours.
"Baby," Ben crooned warmly as he wrapped his arms around Dina from behind and kissed her cheek before reluctantly letting her go.
"If you're not comfortable, we can always leave," Slosh offered reassuringly, reaching across the table to hold my hands.
"Why would I be uncomfortable?" I countered with a confident smirk.
"We can't be uncomfortable because of some parasites," Dina quipped, pointing toward the table where Lis and the others were seated.
"Baby girl, you're calling me a parasite?" Ben gasped dramatically, widening his eyes in exaggerated disbelief. His performance was so convincing it almost ruined our plan.
"You know I can never do that," Dina teased, blowing him another kiss. "I'm talking about everyone else at your table, except you, of course."
Ben was just about to catch the imaginary kiss when a delivery man entered the cafeteria, immediately drawing everyone's attention.
"Perfect," I muttered beneath my breath, lowering my head with a quiet scoff that almost caught Slosh's attention.
The delivery man approached our table carrying a giant money bouquet and a gift bag in one hand, while balancing a bunch of balloons in the other.
"Over here," Slosh called, raising his hand.
As the delivery man stopped beside us, whispers instantly swept across the cafeteria. Every single pair of eyes was fixed on our table.
After placing everything down, he handed a paper to Slosh to sign. Once it was done, the delivery man bowed politely before making his way toward the exit.
I was still watching him leave when the cafeteria suddenly erupted with excited screams, most of them coming from the girls.
Turning back around, I found Slosh already kneeling beside the table with a tiny box resting in his hands.
"What... Slosh!" I gasped dramatically, springing to my feet with both hands covering my mouth.
As I glanced around the hall, I caught Lis discreetly recording everything on her phone.
Since you're both desperate for a show, I'll happily give you one, I mused inwardly, carefully maintaining my stunned expression.
The entire cafeteria gradually fell into pin-drop silence as Slosh cleared his throat.
"I was a bit furious when I was asked to transfer here," he began earnestly. "I couldn't imagine leaving the world I was used to and crossing countless rivers and oceans into a completely different world. I'll never forget your hostile reaction the very first time we met."
He chuckled softly before continuing.
"After that encounter, I was honestly scared. I didn't even want to sit beside you again. But Dina's warmth gave me a reason to stay. Thankfully, our hateful relationship slowly became friendship, friendship became companionship, and now..." He paused, staring deeply into my eyes. "...I want even more, and I'm sure you do too."
Slowly, he flipped open the tiny box.
Resting inside was a beautiful silver necklace with an elegant pendant.
"I know we'll soon be going our separate ways, but where there's a will, there's always a way." His voice softened as he smiled. "Diva Goddess... will you be my woman?"
I nearly burst into laughter after listening to that theatrical speech, but somehow managed to suppress it.
"Before giving my answer, I'd also love to give a speech," I announced brightly before turning toward the crowd.
"Attention, everybody!"
The noisy conversations immediately died down as every eye focused on me.
"I'm really glad Slosh went through all our history because it saves me from repeating all the boring parts. However, you forgot to include the part where we rode around town during the examination period and even before I travelled home for the break," I teased playfully, smiling at Slosh before continuing, "Well, Slosh was invited here as an exchange student on Lis's plot. His sole purpose was to come between Jerald and me, but they were both foolish enough to think I couldn't see through their scheming."
I paused with a smug smile as the cafeteria erupted into loud murmurs.
Slosh and Lis stared at me in complete disbelief while everyone else struggled to quiet the hall so they could hear the rest.
When the cafeteria finally settled down again, I raised my voice even louder.
"Anyways, gratefully, they didn't win this game because even before finding out their plans, I only forced myself to stay around Slosh as a rebound while trying to forget Jerald. But using him wasn't even possible because I still couldn't forget my Bling."
I smiled as I glanced toward Jerald.
"If you must know, Jerald and I spent our holiday together at All Saints."
The devastation on Lis's, Slosh's, and Hakeem's faces was priceless, while everyone else looked completely stunned by my revelation.
"If you doubt us, I can gladly show you several pictures we took together during the break. We only pretended to be apart so we could fool you fools. God... I felt so irritated being around Slosh this past week. Every single second, I kept craving my Bling."
The cafeteria exploded into thunderous cheers.
Before anyone could recover from the shock, Jerald stepped forward, gently cupped my face, and planted a soft kiss on my lips.
The cheers instantly doubled.
"Well, Slosh," I declared triumphantly, "the next time you decide to act cunning, make sure you're experienced enough to pull it off. And thank you for letting me use you... or should I say your power bike?"
A victorious smirk spread across my face as Jerald intertwined his fingers with mine and we turned to leave.
"Wait, Bling. Give me a second," I called suddenly, slipping my hand from his as I remembered something important.
I strode back toward Slosh.
SLAP!
