Chapter 145 ROOFTOP MOMENTS
Chapter 145 ROOFTOP MOMENTS
Godiva's POV
“Slosh!” I exclaimed, forcing a smile.
“Come on, you should be more excited,” Slosh teased, opening his arms as I reluctantly wrapped mine around him.
“I’ve missed you, my girl!” he declared happily.
“Settle down,” the teacher barked in annoyance. “Take all your drama outside once we're done.”
I felt so embarrassed I wished the ground would open up and swallow me. I could see the disgust written across the faces of those around us as Slosh kept playing the role of the perfect boyfriend. As for Jerald, he was the perfect actor. Every time my eyes wandered to his side, he remained focused on the board without so much as flinching.
“Okay, class, time to be seated,” the Math teacher announced as he walked toward the board.
“Thank you, Jesus,” I muttered under my breath.
“What did you say?” Slosh asked curiously, flashing me a smile.
“Nothing at all,” I replied lightly, forcing another smile as I took my seat.
“Love girl,” Dina teased under her breath the moment I sat down.
“Dina, stop making noise,” the Math teacher warned sternly.
For the first time in a long while, I didn't want the teacher to leave our class because I wasn't ready to fake anything with Slosh, who kept staring at me throughout the lesson.
“How about we ride home together?” Slosh suggested hopefully.
“I don't think that's possible this week,” I replied quietly, pretending not to know it was his last week at Bread of Life High.
“Why not? This is actually my last week here. Have you forgotten?” he asked, sounding disappointed, with the same pretence that had once left me too blind to see through his scheming.
“Ouch... how did I forget?” I murmured, pretending to feel guilty. “This week I have to go home with Dina. You know she's not really strong,” I added after pausing briefly to come up with an excuse.
“Alright... but can you at least ride back with me on Thursday?” he pleaded hopefully.
“I don't think Thursday will work. How about Friday?” I suggested, pretending not to know he was planning to embarrass me before the whole school that day.
Whatever. I'll beat him at his own game, I thought to myself with a mischievous smile.
“I don't think Thursday will do. Dina needs to be in the hospital that day,” I explained, forcing a smile as I noticed Jerald shooting me a hard glare.
“How about we continue this after class?” I suggested, deliberately looking away from Jerald's piercing gaze.
When it was almost time for the long break, I knew I needed to escape Slosh. I quickly sought permission from the teacher to visit the sickbay.
“I'll go with her, sir,” Slosh offered, rising from his seat.
What the hell is wrong with this idiot? I muttered inwardly before speaking up.
“I can go alone, thank you,” I declined politely before hurrying out of the classroom.
Instead of going to the sickbay, I headed straight for the rooftop and stood there, admiring the beauty of Mavic City.
I waited patiently for the break since I was expecting Jerald. Earlier, I had texted him to meet me on the rooftop because it was out of bounds.
Finally, the bell rang, but even after more than ten minutes, Jerald was nowhere in sight. I was just about to call him when the door suddenly swung open and he walked in carrying several packs of junk food in a polythene bag.
“Bling!” I squealed excitedly, rushing toward him for a hug.
“Hold it,” he ordered playfully, raising a palm toward me, making me stop in my tracks.
“What is it?” I asked, growing worried.
“Why did you let him hug you that closely?” Jerald demanded, trying to sound angry.
“I never knew jealousy would look this good on you,” I teased, closing the distance and wrapping my arms around him anyway.
“Whatever,” he grumbled, unable to hide his smile. “But the next time he hugs you that closely, I definitely won't hold back.”
He slipped an arm around my waist and gently pulled me against him.
We spent the entire long break on the rooftop munching on the snacks Jerald had bought from the mart. Later, Ben and Dina joined us, happily helping us finish the food while we plotted our revenge.
“Wait, Jerald,” I called as we stood up to leave. “You weren't even looking my way when Slosh hugged me, so how did you know he hugged me that closely?”
“I wasn't really watching...” Jerald defended with a grin as he dusted off my uniform. “I just felt it.”
“Do you two ever live in peace?” Ben groaned dramatically, interrupting our little moment.
I wondered what he was even doing on the rooftop. Was this his regular hiding spot?
“Mind your business,” Jerald and I chorused, bursting into laughter.
“Who's there?” Sir Paul's voice thundered from the gate, sending all of us into panic.
Without wasting another second, we took to our heels. We hurriedly slipped out through the tiny door we'd sneaked in through earlier. Once we reached a safe distance, I waited a little while before letting Jerald and Ben leave first so no one would suspect anything.
“I love you, baby,” Jerald whispered, stealing a quick kiss before sprinting off to catch up with the others.
After school, I hurried home while supporting Dina, who was pretending to be sick. The moment we got to a safe distance, she straightened up and began walking normally, leaving both of us laughing uncontrollably.
“Mtcwww,” Dina hissed suddenly.
“Why are you hissing, dude?” I asked, staring at her in surprise.
“It's just too bad we can't stroll home with the boys,” she lamented, hissing again in disappointment.
“Bro!” I laughed, nudging her playfully. “It pains me too. I was really looking forward to walking home with my babe now that we've rekindled our love from cold ashes,” I admitted with a deep sigh as we continued home.
Back home, Dina remained in the living room while I stayed in my room, yet we both spent the evening talking to the boys over a video call.
“Why have you girls been talking to the boys for hours as if you didn't just see them a few hours ago?” Mama asked in disbelief after we finally ended the call, having spent well over an hour and thirty minutes chatting.
“Girl, don't mind them,” Mrs. Job chuckled, exchanging a playful glance with Mama. “It's the early stage of love. That's why they're all lovey-dovey.”
“What do you mean, early stage?” Dina protested dramatically, laughing as she defended us.
“Should we tell them?” Mama asked jokingly.
“Hell no. They'll find out themselves,” Mrs. Job replied with an amused laugh.
“Just ignore them, girl. They're old school,” Dina fired back as we headed to the room, leaving the two women laughing and teasing us behind.
Our sweet family reunion was suddenly interrupted by a knock at the door, followed by one annoyingly familiar voice.
