CHAPTER 28
Alexander walked to Highs and Lows but in a disguise as the sun was still up and there were people in there. Alexander sat alone in wait. He observed the people that walked into the bar but made sure he avoided eye contact.
The peak of night fell and the bar was empty and dark. The only people there were Alexander and…
“Christopher.” Alexander’s voiced echoed through to the ears of the bar owner who was near him. Alexander saw Christopher tremble at the sound of his voice. Christopher recognizes the voice of Alexander Robinson any day, any time. However, this time was different –there was so much animosity. The atmosphere became unbreathable for Christopher who only heard Alexander call his name. Christopher could not look at Alexander whose eyes glowed so brightly in the dark bar. “Sit down.” Alexander gestured a stool beside him.
“W-would y-you like a d-drink?” Christopher stuttered
“Sit.” Christopher sat and Alexander removed his disguise. “Were you at the execution?”
“Y-yes.”
“Then you must be well aware of the method that was used.”
“Y-yes.”
“What is it?”
“I-It-I—”
Alexander noticed Christopher’s behavior. “Relax, Christopher. I’m not here to punish you, but that depends on your answers.”
“Well, t-the execution was performed by…y-your mate.”
“Her name is Rachel. Continue.”
“Y-yes. Rachel. S-She fed them something, yes.”
“What was that?”
“It-It was called…the blood.”
“Good. And did you see what it did to werewolves like us?”
“Y-yes.”
“Now imagine what it will do to human.”
“I—”
“Unlike us, humans are prone to everything. Although, the blood was made to eliminate anyone who drinks and it was designed for our enemies, I wouldn’t feed it to one of us.”
“Y-yes.”
“Tell me something; do you happen to have samples of this…drink Rajesh created?”
“I-I…don’t.”
“Do not lie to me.” Alexander looked him deeper in the eye
“…I…do.”
“Great. Did you or did you not give it to an innocent human?”
Christopher immediately fell to his knees. “Please, forgive me! I did not want to do it but Rajesh…he made me do it.” Christopher pleaded
Alexander’s rage grew but he contained it. “What did he say to you?”
“He told me he and his wife were spies because they were new in town. Please, I was only following orders. I beg you.” Christopher’s voice sounded like a cry. Alexander glared at him but had no words to say to Christopher. He saved everything he had to say for one person alone.
“Rajesh!” Alexander yelled Rajesh’s name at his home. Rajesh immediately emerged out of the front door. Rajesh was met with rage from Alexander that he felt threatened and stayed on guard.
“Alexander, everybody is sleeping, what do you want?”
“I will warn you, Rajesh. If another news of this sort reaches me again, I will not think twice to get rid of you. It will be certain. Leave the people out of this.” Alexander said with an unforgettable glare.
“Alexander, what are you talking about?”
“This is your war not theirs.”
“One can never be ‘too careful’. Perhaps, you will understand when you lose everything because of someone. You are very naïve, Alexander. I don’t know why you were blessed with this positions, even your brothers understand the situation.”
“Rajesh, not another word from you. You will not use that liquid on another person without my knowledge, is that clear?” Alexander did not wait from a response from Rajesh. Alexander turned his head. He had just heard something and he knew it was important he goes. He glanced at Rajesh one last time before leaving the premises.
As he walked in the direction of the sound he heard, Alexander was stopped my the presence of something. It felt massive. He looked around but nothing was there. He shrugged it off and continued walking. He felt it come closer which made him halt. He sensed it coming quick and before he knew it, he was pushed aside by a great force leading him to collide with a wall. Alexander immediately got off the ground and transformed into his werewolf form. He could not see anything around him but he could hear it. He heard it coming quickly towards him. Alexander tried evading but was hit with a greater force. Alexander whimpered as he rolled on the floor. He managed to get up, however, with what looked like a claw mark on his chest. Thankfully, it wasn’t deep enough to bleed.
Slowly, the invisible force became visible—three times the size of Alexander’s werewolf form was another werewolf before him. Alexander knew who it was but did not know why he was being attacked or how it was invisible. Alexander knew he had to attack. If he did it before, he could do it again, or so he thought.
Alexander barked at the werewolf as he dashed with great speed towards it. Alexander jumped more that three feet in the air, aiming the neck of this werewolf but was clawed away. Alexander was forced to transform back to his man form. All the bruises were open and pouring out blood but most of all, a gash on his chest. It bothered Alexander how this werewolf gained such amount of strength but he was unmoved…yet. Alexander knew he had only one chance of winning.
Alexander got up from the ground and waited for the werewolf that charged towards him. Alexander maintained a steady eye contact with it as came for him. The werewolf sprung in the air with it’s canines exposes and claws protruded. In the nick of time, it transformed back into it’s man form. He fell on the ground and was unconscious. Alexander had nothing he could do but to treat himself before he passes out from too much blood loss.
“It has been two weeks and…he’s not here yet. I even went out to look for him against his orders.” Iliana said to herself as she stayed indoors waiting for Alexander. “Maybe it was just a dream.”
There was a hard knock on the door. It startled Iliana. Iliana couldn’t recognize the knock. She was hesitant. The knock grew even louder. She moved to the door and wasn’t sure about opening the door. She twisted the door knob and slowly opened the door. She gasped at the sight of a beaten and bleeding Alexander; with a gash in his chest.
