CHAPTER 25
Iliana still couldn’t tell if it was a prank or am actual occurrence. The Shadow Creek did not strike her as pranksters. If it was an actually happened then it would it would mean—Iliana shook her head trying not to think of that. There was nothing more she could think of but that. It was the only explanation but she looked for other explanations but neither of them were as reasonable as that. Iliana stayed locked up in her room, critically thinking of a cause. All thinking led to that— if the execution was two weeks ago but suddenly the previous day it could only mean…
“NO WAY!” Iliana yelled. She accepted the fact she is living in the past. A past she never actually lived in.
A knock on the door. She quickly opened the door to the person she figured it would be.
“I have been waiting all day for you.” Iliana pulled the man in and shut the door. “Something has happened.”
The man furrowed his brows.
“I know it may sound very absurd and prank-like but I am not joking about this.”
“What is it?”
“I’m from the future.”
The masked man scoffed. “No way.”
“Two weeks…later, I saw something terrible happen to Alexander and suddenly I appear here. I was fully conscious when I arrived here.”
“Were you supposed to be unconscious?” The man asked.
“Yes. I was unconscious and being taken care of by Alexander.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, it was…it was so.”
“What if…you were only dreaming of what is potentially to come and you were not living it.”
“It was far too long to be a dream. I highly doubt that.”
“There’s a chance.”
“There is no chance.” Iliana opposed.
“Tell me everything that happened…in details.”
“Why do you want to know that?” Iliana asked.
“Look, this could be a lead to find out about…you know what.”
“That power?”
“This occurrence may be one of the many products of it—time travel; if you’re claims are true.”
“I don’t know.” Iliana lowered her head
“Just give me the details.”
The masked man listened attentively as Iliana spoke about everything that is to come two weeks from the time she presently lived in. It was a long tale she had to tell.
“Let me get this part right…Alexander –the strongest of us all– was hurt?” The mask man skeptically asked
“Yes. He was bleeding so badly and it looked like he was about to die.”
“Uh-huh.”
“I am telling the truth.”
“I’ll do my best to believe you.”
Iliana let out a sigh.
“Is there anything else?”
“Not really. Except for—” Iliana remembered something. “Did you and I witness time move forward?”
“That happened yesterday.”
Iliana was convinced that she is in the past. A past she did not live in. There is no way she could get back unless the power is in control and mastered. However, in that time, Alexander is yet to find a core.
“Rachel, even if you happen to go back to the time you were before now, what happens to you who exists here now?”
Iliana was silent. She had no answers to the question.
“You’re not stuck here. You are here.” The man stated.
Iliana took her time to rethink about everything. What if the masked man was right? Then everything that happened will not happen? “Even the time Alexander and I were out together?”
With this, Iliana’s plan to escape is hastened. She cannot spend anymore days in the Silver Creek. However, her plan was met with a wall.
“Rachel, if there’s nothing more, I have to go.” The masked man caught her out of her thinking.
“Oh. I’ll see you later?”
“Maybe.” The masked man said as he left Iliana alone with her thoughts.
She laid on her bed and let herself get lost in thoughts.
“If I manage to get out of here, they will know who I am. I have already drawn too much attention to myself. If they find out I am from the Shadow pack, they will come for me and the entire Shadow pack. At the moment, the Shadow pack –no pack– is strong enough to face the Silver Creek and their mysterious power. This is bad.” Iliana rolled side to side. “If Damian find out that our comrades have been killed, he will definitely, without a second thought send reinforcement—that is the worst case scenario.” She sat upright. “I’ll have to get information from the source.” She said as she prepared to leave her room to the forest.
Iliana reached the forest’s entrance but wasn’t sure about going in. She shrugged and went in anyway. She prayed not to encounter David or Erik like last time in the forest. She walked with caution.
She arrived at the cabin and hope who she was looking for would be there.
“Y’know, there’s one person I cannot stop thinking of.” Iliana overhead Rajesh’s voice echoing from the cabin. She quickly hid herself behind a wall nearest to the door.
“Who?” She also heard Erik’s voice
“That…Rachel girl Alexander has as his mate.”
“Mmm. For some reason, the thought of her bothers me.”
“Me too. There is something about her I don’t like. Something…hidden.”
“The other day, Erik and I brought her to the forest. We used our gifts on her but it did not work.”
“Gifts?” Iliana thought.
“How can that be? No one, but your brothers, is resistant to it, not even me.”
“Exactly. It did not make any sense until I thought maybe she might have something to do with those hostages because they were also resistant.”
“She could be. I don’t know what you brother was thinking when he chose her– I don’t trust her. I already have somebody keeping an eye on her.”
Iliana slowly backed away from the cabin making sure she made no sound. She reached where she thought was safe to run from.
“Hey, Rachel.” Iliana quivered upon hearing a voice call her. She turned to see who it was and It was, to her misfortune, Erik.
