Chapter 123

Chapter 123
Serena's POV

My bare feet slapped against the cold marble floor as I burst out of the hidden room, to his room, and into the corridor. My heart pounded so violently against my ribs that I was sure it would rip through my chest.

“Security!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. The desperation was quite audible in my voice.

My voice echoed through the house, which was empty. I just prayed one of them heard me.

"Security..." I yelled “Someone—help me!”

But I didn't get any answer in return. Fear clawed up my spine. I ran faster, my lungs burning as I turned into the living room.

“SECURITY!” I screamed again, my throat tearing with the force of it.

No one came... Not even their voices. I got nothing in response. My heart started pounding even louder.

They were always there whenever I tried to escape but today when I actually need them, no one is here.

My heart came to my throat when, from behind, I heard Kayden's footsteps. He was already here.

Stupid.

I should have locked him inside the room. In my panic, I couldn't think of anything else than running to save my life.

“You won’t find them, Sera.” his voice was calm and amused "I made sure no one got into my way before I came here"

My ears turned red listening to his words. I turned around to see how far he was.

He was close ... Very close.

I sped up and just when I saw in front a loud yelp passed my lips. I was very close to the glass table. One more stitch, its edges would dig straight into my stomach.

But my body was already in panic mode, my brain already signaled my feet to move faster. I can't stop myself.

Another yell passed my lips when I thought I was about to collide with it and lose my baby when his arm wrapped around my waist and he effortlessly picked me up. I kicked into the air when he whirled me around with his one arm still around my waist.

"Let me go! Let me go!" I thrashed in his hold.

He let me stand on my feet but didn't move his arm away. I could see the scratch he got on his wrist in the attempt to save me from the wound.

"See, even after you kicked me where you shouldn't, only I came for your rescue" he whispered in my ear.

I shook my head.

"Accept the fact, Sera, only I can protect you"

His lips clamped around my ear and I instantly felt disgusted. I tried to pull myself away from him but he didn't let me. His other hand started moving along my body.

Yuck!

I elbowed him backward with everything I had, my elbow connecting with his ribs. He hissed but didn't lose his grip. I twisted violently in his hold, scratched my nails into his skin, and thrashed my legs around to get free from him but he just chuckled in response. As if my attempts looked cute to him.

Rage exploded inside me. I twisted sharply and slammed my head backward into his face.

He grunted in pain.

I stopped on his foot as harshly as I could and ran away from him. But I couldn't go far before he tackled me from both sides and both of us fell on the carpeted floor. The air whooshed out of my lungs as I hit hard.

“I will kill you,” I hissed.

“You couldn’t even if you tried.”

I tried to roll away, but he caged me from both sides. My nails raked across his neck, and I bit down on his shoulder through his shirt. I was doing everything in my power to get free from this devil, but he didn't move.

Once again, I tried to kick him where the sun shines, but this time he pressed his leg over mine before I could move it.

I spat in his face but he saved himself by moving his head away.

“Enough!” he groaned and gripped my hair tightly. I yelled in pain when he yanked my head back. Pain exploded across my scalp.

"I never wanted to use this but you didn't leave me with any other option"

I stopped breathing when he reached into his pocket and pulled out his handkerchief.

“No,” I whispered, recognizing the white cloth instantly.

I tried to scramble away, but I couldn't fight his strength.

“No! Don’t you dare!” I screamed and thrashed harder.

But he didn't listen. He tried to press the cloth on my mother but I turned my head sharply.

"Enough of your drama!" He groaned, sat above my stomach, with his weight on his knees. I was afraid he might sit down and hurt my baby.

I can't trust him now. He is actually a monster.

I tried to push him away but he grabbed both of my wrists in one of his large palms and pinned them above my head.

"Kayden, don't do something that you regret later"

"As I said, I never wanted to do this. It's you who forced me to"

I moved my head away once again but this time he was successful in clamping that white cloth around my nose and mouth. I forced my lips shut and stopped breathing altogether.

His arm tightened around my wrist as he applied pressure on my mouth.

“Breathe, Serena,” he murmured almost gently. “Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”

My lungs started burning for air. My vision started blurring as tears burnt the corner of my eyes. But I refused to give in.

I would not give him this.

I shook my head violently, trying to break free, my body trembling with effort. My lungs screamed for oxygen. Black spots danced at the edges of my vision.

Still, I didn’t breathe.

His grip only tightened.

“Stubborn,” he muttered. “Just like I fell for you.”

The pressure in my chest became unbearable. My limbs started feeling heavy, my strength was draining faster than I expected. I fought all I could but the body has limits. I could feel my whole face turning red. I needed to breathe.

My chest heaved involuntarily and I sucked in air and with it, the chemical burn invaded my lungs.

I coughed violently, choking, trying to turn away, but his hand held the cloth firmly against my mouth and nose.

I can't help anymore. My survival instinct kicked in and I had to breathe.

Slowly my arms became numb, my legs stopped responding and my vision started getting blurry.

Kayden reduced the force but he didn't remove the handkerchief from my mouth.

"Breath, baby... Just breath. Give yourself to me"

I still tried to fight him while slowly my body was drifting into unconsciousness. He removed the cloth.

I faintly remember him standing up and lifting me into his arms. My body has shut down but a little part of my brain was still conscious.

I felt him walking and at the same time I heard Matteo's car honk which gave me slightest hope.

'Matteo, please save me' My lips barely mumbled before the darkness engulfed me.
