Chapter 95 Meeting
Olivia felt a stir in her heart. Clara's company was indeed a dream workplace for many designers. But she had already made up her mind to start her own business, and she couldn't give up halfway.
"Thank you for your appreciation, Clara," Olivia said sincerely. "I have my own plans right now, so I'm not considering joining a company at the moment. But if there's a chance to collaborate in the future, I'd be more than happy to."
A flicker of disappointment crossed Clara's face, but she nodded. "That's fine. It's good for young people to have their own ideas."
"Here's my business card. Feel free to contact me if you need anything in the future." She handed Olivia a card.
"Thank you." Olivia took the card and carefully tucked it away.
Just then, a commotion broke out at the entrance of the banquet hall.
Olivia instinctively looked over, and her heart skipped a beat.
It was Luca and Windy arriving.
Luca was dressed in a black suit, still as handsome and striking as ever. Windy clung to his arm, wearing a pink gown with a dazzling diamond necklace around her neck, looking very eye-catching.
"Isn't that Luca, the CEO of Vettel Group?"
"And the woman beside him is his partner, Windy, right? I heard that necklace was a super expensive piece from a recent auction, and Luca bought it especially for her."
"They look so perfect together, such a good match."
People around whispered, their eyes full of envy.
Clara noticed them too and said to Olivia, "Luca and Windy really do look great together. A perfect match in both looks and status."
Hearing these words, Olivia felt a pang of bitterness.
Even though she had long moved on, hearing others say this still stirred up some strange emotions.
She thought to herself that Windy must have gotten what she wanted, standing beside Luca and receiving everyone's blessings.
She looked away, not wanting to see more, reminding herself that this had nothing to do with her.
Meanwhile, as soon as Luca stepped into the banquet hall, he felt a dull pain in his temples.
Damn it, another migraine.
He forced himself to bear the discomfort, keeping a calm expression on his face, though his eyes had turned cold.
People kept coming over to greet him, trying to strike up a conversation.
"Luca, long time no see."
"Mr. Vettel, I hope our collaboration goes smoothly this time."
Luca just nodded curtly, maintaining a cold demeanor and speaking in a distant tone.
Seeing his reaction, those people got the hint and backed off, not daring to approach further.
Windy sensed something was off and leaned in to whisper, "Luca, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Luca didn't answer right away. Instead, he took out his phone and opened a video of Leo drawing.
Leo was painting sunflowers, his soft, cute voice melting hearts.
Windy, curious, leaned over to see what he was watching.
Noticing her gaze, Luca quickly turned off his phone.
"What are you looking at?" Windy asked, a bit surprised. She thought she saw a little boy in the video, whose features oddly resembled Luca's.
But before she could think more, Luca spoke, "Nothing. Is there something you need?"
Windy felt a bit upset that he didn't want her to see, but she put on an obedient face. "I noticed you don't look well. Are you feeling okay? Do you want to rest for a bit?"
"No need," Luca replied flatly. "This banquet is a good chance for you to build connections. I'll have my assistant stay with you. I'm heading back."
His migraine was getting worse, and he couldn't hold on any longer.
Windy was furious inside. She had spent so much time getting ready to shine at this banquet, and now he was leaving early.
But on the surface, she acted understanding. "Okay, be careful on your way back. Remember to take your medicine."
Luca didn't say anything more. He turned and left, leaving Windy standing there, her smile almost slipping.
Seeing Luca leave, Olivia let out a sigh of relief.
She had been worried about an awkward encounter, but now that he was gone, she felt more at ease.
"I think it's about time for us to leave, too," Olivia said to Sophia.
She never liked these social events anyway. Now that her goal was mostly achieved—meeting Clara and getting her card—it was enough.
Sophia gave her a deep look, as if seeing through her thoughts. "Alright, I'll take you back."
The two walked out of the banquet hall toward the hotel entrance.
Just as Olivia reached the hotel lobby, a familiar voice called out to her.
"Olivia? What are you doing here?"
Windy hurried over, her face full of shock, with a hint of panic in her eyes.
She never expected Olivia, who had disappeared for five years, to suddenly show up, and at such an upscale banquet no less.
Thankfully, Luca had already left. If he saw her, who knows what kind of mess would unfold?
Olivia didn't stop walking, feeling nothing but annoyance. Running into Windy at a place like this was just a mood killer.
"Where I am is not your business, right?" she said coldly without turning her head.
Windy choked on her words, quickly stepping in front of Olivia to block her path. Crossing her arms, she put on the air of a hostess. "How is it not my business? This is a high-end business banquet; not just anyone can waltz in. You've been gone for so long, and now you're suddenly back. What are you trying to do?"
Her voice was loud enough that a few people nearby started to stare.
Olivia frowned, not wanting to get tangled up with her here. "Move. I have things to do."
"I'm not moving!" Windy stepped closer, reaching out to grab the sleeve of Olivia's gown. "Are you deliberately coming back to ruin things between Luca and me? I'm telling you, it won't work! Luca only has me in his heart now. Even if you're back, it's useless!"
Olivia instinctively dodged, looking at Windy's aggressive behavior and finding it both ridiculous and pathetic.
"Ruin things between you and Luca?" She let out a scoff. "Windy, don't you think too highly of yourself? What I'm doing here has nothing to do with either of you. But you, why are you so nervous? Could it be that you've done something guilty and are afraid I'll expose you?"
Those words hit Windy hard. Her face changed instantly, her eyes flickering. "What nonsense are you talking about? Luca and I are truly in love. Unlike you, who was just a tool for a business marriage back then!"
"A tool?" Olivia raised an eyebrow. "At least I was once the legitimate Mrs. Vettel. And you? After all these years, you're still just his 'companion,' without even an official title. Yet you have the nerve to brag here? Have you been the other woman for so long that you actually think you can take my place?"
Windy's face turned from pale to red with anger, her body trembling. "You! You're shameless!"
"Shameless?" Olivia took a step forward, her presence commanding. "Coming from you? You stole someone else's man and played the victim for sympathy. So what does that make me? You really think Luca loves you? Deep down, you know if he actually cares about you or not."
The murmurs around them grew louder, with many people sneaking glances and pointing at Windy.
Windy was both angry and anxious, her eyes turning red as her voice trembled with tears. "You're lying! Luca loves me so much! He even bought me this expensive necklace. We're getting married soon!"
