Chapter 93 Are You Ms. Olivia?
Luca looked at the thermos, then at Windy's red-rimmed eyes, feeling even more guilty.
Yesterday was her birthday, but he had completely forgotten about it while chasing leads on Olivia. On top of that, he let her see him in such a mess.
"I'm sorry, Windy, I missed your birthday," he said sincerely as he took the thermos. "Thanks for still thinking of me."
"I got too excited over a lead on Olivia, but it turned out to be a false alarm. I lost control of my emotions a bit."
Windy secretly felt delighted. So the lead was fake, and Olivia still hadn't been found. As long as Olivia didn't come back, she still had a chance.
"It's okay," she said gently. "Finding her would be a good thing, but it's a shame it was just false hope."
She paused, then added vaguely on purpose, "Honestly, Olivia left so decisively back then. Maybe she doesn't even want to see you anymore. You shouldn't hold on too much."
Luca didn't catch the hint of manipulation in her words. He just sighed. "I neglected her too much back then. It's normal if she doesn't want to see me."
He opened the thermos, and the aroma of meatloaf filled the air, but he had no appetite at all.
Windy watched him, scheming in her mind, and changed the subject. "By the way, Luca, tomorrow is the Harrison family's business banquet. Are you still taking me as your date?"
She nervously clutched the hem of her shirt. This was her last chance. If Luca agreed, it meant she still had a place in his heart.
Luca hesitated for a moment, remembering he had indeed promised to take her as his date. He wasn't in the mood for a banquet right now, but since he'd already given his word, it wouldn't be right to back out.
"Sure, I'll have the driver pick you up tomorrow," he said flatly, his tone emotionless.
Windy felt a surge of joy, though she kept a calm face. "Okay, I'll get ready for tomorrow. Don't be too upset," she said, glancing at the mess on the floor. "Let me help you clean up. You should rest early."
Luca shook his head. "No need, the housekeeper will take care of it. You should head back soon."
Windy nodded, but in her mind, she was already planning. At tomorrow's banquet, she had to perform well and show Luca her best side.
After Windy left, Luca picked up a bottle of alcohol again, but didn't drink. He just stared at it, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, someone knocked on Olivia's door.
She opened it and saw a woman in a professional suit standing there, holding a folder.
"Are you Ms. Olivia?" the woman asked politely.
"Yes, and you are?" Olivia replied, a bit puzzled.
"I'm Sophia. Dr. Jason sent me," the woman said with a smile, handing over the folder. "He mentioned you wanted to start your own company after returning to the country, so I'm here to help with the initial steps."
Olivia was stunned. She took the folder and flipped it open. Inside was a detailed work plan and a list of useful contacts.
She grabbed her phone and immediately called Jason. "Jason, why did you suddenly send an assistant over?"
"You're awake?" Jason's warm voice came through the phone. "Didn't you say you wanted to start a design company? You just got back, and you're not familiar with the local scene or connections. Sophia is a friend of mine, very capable. She can help you a lot."
Olivia felt a warmth in her heart, her eyes tearing up a little. "Thank you, Jason. You've thought of everything."
"No need to thank me," Jason chuckled. "By the way, there's a business banquet hosted by the Harrison family tomorrow. A lot of big names in the industry will be there. You should go too. Meeting people will help with starting your company. I've already signed you up."
Olivia hesitated. She wasn't fond of such social events, but knowing she needed connections for her company, she agreed. "Alright, thank you."
"No problem. If you need anything, just call me. Sophia will help prepare everything you need for the banquet."
After hanging up, Olivia looked at the folder in her hands, feeling deeply grateful. Jason was always like this—thinking ahead and arranging everything perfectly for her.
"Ms. Olivia, can we start going over the work now?" Sophia's voice interrupted her thoughts.
Olivia nodded and stepped aside to let her in. "Sure, let's talk in the living room."
At that moment, Leo came out, rubbing his eyes. "Mom, who's that?"
"This is Sophia, she's helping Mom with work," Olivia said, patting his head.
Seeing it wasn't anything important, Leo mumbled an "oh," greeted Sophia, and said, "Okay, Mom, I'm going to draw now."
Olivia nodded.
Sophia couldn't help but compliment, "Your child is so cute."
Olivia smiled. "Thanks."
The two sat down on the living room couch. Sophia opened the folder and started going through the details with Olivia. "Dr. Jason mentioned you're good at design projects. I've gathered info on a few companies with recent collaboration needs. Take a look and see if any interest you."
Olivia took the documents, flipping through them carefully and nodding from time to time as they discussed.
After about an hour, Sophia stood to leave. "That's the basics for now. I'll send a more detailed plan to your email tomorrow. The dress and makeup for the banquet are already booked, and someone will pick you up tomorrow afternoon."
"Thanks for your hard work, Sophia," Olivia said as she walked her to the door.
After closing the door, Leo ran over with a drawing he'd just finished. "Mom, look at my drawing of Sophia!"
The little figure on the paper wore a professional suit and held a folder. Though the lines were childish, the resemblance was clear.
Olivia smiled and ruffled his hair. "It looks just like her. You're getting better and better, Leo."
She picked up her phone, wanting to call Emma to ask her to look after Leo tomorrow.
The call connected quickly, and Emma's lively voice came through. "Liv, what's up?"
"Emma, I need a favor," Olivia said with a smile. "I'm going to the Harrison family's business banquet tomorrow and was hoping you could watch Leo for me."
"Business banquet?" Emma paused. "Harrison family? Why does that name sound so familiar?"
"They're probably a big family in international business. Jason said going would help me meet useful contacts for starting my company," Olivia explained.
"No problem!" Emma agreed right away. "I'm free tomorrow anyway. I'll come over early to hang out with Leo."
"Thanks so much, Emma," Olivia said, relieved.
"Don't mention it," Emma laughed. "Just tell me all the juicy gossip from the banquet later. I want to hear everything."
After hanging up, Emma sat on her couch, thinking. Harrison family... She suddenly slapped her thigh, remembering something.
That family had deep ties with the Vettel Group. Luca would definitely be at the banquet!
She quickly grabbed her phone to call Olivia and warn her, so she could be mentally prepared.
But the call rang for a long time with no answer.
At Olivia's place, Leo was tugging at her hand, acting cute. "Mom, tomorrow I want to draw sunflowers. Can you draw with me?"
"Sure," Olivia said with a smile. She casually placed her phone on the living room table and switched it to silent mode. She'd gotten into this habit because phone calls often interrupted her time drawing with Leo.
