Chapter 76 Standing Him Up
Three days later, Luca showed up on time for the meeting with Henry to discuss their partnership.
To save the deal, Luca made significant concessions. He not only increased the profit share but also agreed to several tough conditions Henry had put forward.
Luckily, Henry didn't want to give up on the partnership either. In the end, both sides reached an agreement and signed a new contract.
After signing, Henry looked at Luca with a meaningful expression and said, "Mr. Vettel, I hope we can work well together this time. As I've always said, sincerity is the most important thing in business. I hope there won't be any similar issues in the future."
Luca nodded. "Definitely."
Leaving the negotiation room, Luca let out a sigh of relief and immediately called his grandfather to report the successful deal.
After hanging up, Luca drove straight to the hospital.
He hesitated for a moment at the door of Olivia's ward before pushing it open.
Inside, Olivia was leaning against the headboard, reading a book, while Jason sat beside her. They occasionally exchanged a few quiet words.
When they saw Luca enter, both of them stopped what they were doing.
Jason's expression turned cold instantly as he stood up. "Mr. Vettel, is there something you need?"
Luca ignored Jason and focused on Olivia. "How are you feeling?"
Olivia closed her book, her tone flat. "Much better."
"The deal with Henry is settled," Luca said. "We've already smoothed things over about standing him up."
Olivia didn't respond. It had nothing to do with her, and she didn't care to get involved.
Seeing her indifferent attitude, Luca felt a bit uneasy. He wanted to say something, but didn't know what.
"If there's nothing else, you can leave," Jason said. "Olivia needs a quiet environment to rest."
Luca opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing. He turned and left the ward. As soon as he stepped out, his phone rang. It was Linus calling.
"Luca, the family party is just two or three weeks away. Have you prepared Olivia's dress and jewelry?" His grandfather's voice carried a firm tone.
Luca paused, instinctively glancing back toward Olivia's ward. He felt stuck. Olivia was still recovering in the hospital, and if his grandfather found out, he'd definitely worry.
"Grandpa, I'm working on it. Don't worry," he replied, going along with it for now.
"I'm not asking you to just throw something together," Linus emphasized over the phone. "I've already contacted the top designer in Paris. Take Olivia there when you have time. Let her pick the fabric and style herself. The jewelry should also be custom-made to make her shine."
Luca rubbed his forehead. His grandfather was determined to play matchmaker and left no room for refusal.
"Got it, Grandpa. I'll take her in a few days," he agreed reluctantly.
After hanging up, Luca hesitated for a moment before turning back to the ward.
Jason had already left, and Olivia was alone in the room. She was leaning against the headboard, having fallen asleep at some point.
Under the light, her complexion looked better than before, though still a bit pale. Her long eyelashes rested quietly, and her breathing was steady.
Luca softened his steps as he approached, looking at her peaceful sleeping face. His heart suddenly felt tender.
These past few days, he'd been so busy with company matters that he hadn't really taken a good look at her.
He used to think Olivia was just strong and cold, but now, seeing her asleep so quietly, she seemed so gentle.
Almost without thinking, he leaned down, his fingertips nearly brushing her cheek before stopping mid-air.
As if under a spell, he bent closer and placed a soft kiss on her smooth forehead.
The warmth of the touch snapped him back to reality.
He quickly straightened up, stepping back a couple of paces, his heart pounding.
What was he doing?
He had come to talk about the dress, so how did he end up doing something like this?
Luca frowned, starting to question his recent behavior.
Ever since Olivia got injured and was hospitalized, he'd been restless, his mind full of her.
He used to only have eyes for Windy, but now, seeing Olivia in pain made his heart ache. Seeing her close with Jason made him jealous. And now, he couldn't help wanting to be near her.
Could it be that he was really falling for Olivia?
The thought startled him.
He shook his head, trying to push the ridiculous idea away, but his gaze softened again as it landed on her.
"Mmm…"
Olivia let out a soft sound and slowly opened her eyes.
Still half-asleep, she met Luca's gaze with a confused look. "Why are you here?"
Luca snapped out of it and cleared his throat to cover up. "Grandpa called."
"Grandpa?" Olivia sat up straight, the sleepiness in her eyes vanishing. "Did something happen?"
"No, it's about the family party," Luca said, walking to the bedside. "Grandpa contacted a designer in Paris. He wants me to take you there to pick a dress and jewelry. They'll be custom-made."
Olivia was stunned for a moment before realizing that Grandpa was still trying to push them together.
She glanced at her arm, still wrapped in bandages. Though she was recovering well, she wasn't fully healed yet.
"With me like this, how can I go pick a dress?" she said, feeling a bit troubled.
"Grandpa doesn't know you're injured. I didn't dare tell him," Luca said with a hint of helplessness. "If he finds out, he'll worry and might even blame me for not taking good care of you."
Olivia thought the same.
Based on the timeline, the family party was just two weeks away. By then, she should be mostly recovered.
Luca clearly thought of this too and quickly added, "Just focus on resting these next few days. Don't worry about anything else."
Olivia agreed.
Over the next few days, Luca was at the hospital almost every day.
In the morning, he'd bring her favorite breakfast. At noon, he'd personally oversee the nutritionist preparing lunch. In the evening, he'd stay to chat with her until she fell asleep before leaving.
Olivia accepted everything he brought and let him take care of her without hesitation.
After all, there wouldn't be many chances like this in the future. She might as well enjoy it now.
