Chapter 7 No Leaving Without Permission
Pregnant? Olivia is pregnant?
He couldn't believe this was real, but the pregnancy test report was right there in front of him.
Olivia avoided his gaze, her fingers starting to tremble slightly.
Emma reacted first, quickly snatching the report from his hands. "What nonsense are you talking about? This has nothing to do with Olivia. This is my pregnancy test report!" She raised her voice, trying to hide her nervousness. "I wasn't feeling well a few days ago and came for a checkup. Olivia came with me, and I casually stuffed it into her bag. It's not hers!"
Emma clutched the paper tightly and, without waiting for Luca to respond, sneered, "You and Olivia have barely slept together. Do you really think she could be pregnant with your child? Dream on!"
Luca frowned deeply, looking back and forth between Olivia and Emma. Both of them were tense, not daring to let their guard down, especially Olivia, whose entire body was stiff, her breathing shaky.
She was grateful that Emma stepped in to help, but she also knew Luca wasn't someone who could be easily fooled.
"Emma," Luca's voice was low and full of doubt, "you'd better tell me the truth."
Emma immediately stepped in front of Olivia, blocking Luca's line of sight. "The truth is, the results on this report are mine. Every word on it is my private business and has nothing to do with you." She gave him a cold stare and changed the subject. "Why are you still here causing trouble? Get out. Olivia and I are leaving."
She reached to support Olivia, and Olivia instinctively took her hand.
Olivia had been scared out of her wits just moments ago. There was no way she could stay alone with Luca in this hospital room. If he asked more questions, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to handle it.
Besides, before Emma arrived, Luca was already suspicious that she was hiding something from him.
Olivia's heart raced as she followed Emma toward the door. But just as they reached it, the door suddenly swung open, and two burly bodyguards walked in, blocking the exit like a wall.
Both women stopped in their tracks.
Bodyguards this well-trained could only have been hired by Luca.
Emma immediately turned back and glared at Luca, shaking with anger. "Luca, what is this? Are you trying to force Olivia to stay? This is detention, it's illegal!"
Luca ignored her words, his eyes fixed on Olivia.
Olivia lowered her gaze, avoiding his stare, clenching her fists tightly. She could still feel the coldness spreading through her palms.
"Without my permission, she's not leaving this hospital. Emma, you can go," Luca said slowly. "Of course, you can also try fighting my two bodyguards. If you win, you can take my wife with you." He didn't bother showing Emma any respect, his tone icy and laced with an unapologetic threat.
"I'm not leaving! Not unless Olivia comes with me! Who knows what you'll do to her after I'm gone, or how you'll bully her for Windy's sake!" Emma couldn't leave, so she just pulled Olivia to sit by the hospital bed.
Luca's expression grew darker, a storm brewing beneath the surface.
Olivia felt a chill in her heart.
Luca was domineering and forceful. If someone truly angered him, he wouldn't care if they were a man or a woman.
Emma going head-to-head with Luca wouldn't end well for her. Olivia didn't want Emma to get in trouble with Luca because of her.
With that thought, Olivia tugged at Emma's sleeve and whispered, "Emma, you should go back first."
"Olivia…"
"Listen to me!" Olivia raised her voice slightly, forcing a relaxed smile. "Go back. I'll be fine here."
Emma had no choice. She shot Luca a fierce glare. "Fine, I'll leave. But I'm warning you, Luca, if Olivia gets hurt again, I'm not done with you!"
Emma huffed angrily and stormed toward the bodyguards. "What are you standing there for? Move!"
The two bodyguards didn't budge, glancing at Luca.
Only after Luca gave a subtle nod did they step aside.
After Emma left, the room fell silent.
Luca raised a hand, and the bodyguards stepped out, positioning themselves on either side of the door. From the looks of it, they were planning to stay there for a while.
Olivia frowned slightly. After all this commotion, she was completely exhausted. She spoke, her voice weak, "Luca, what else do you want?"
Luca noticed her fatigue. "I'll have a few caregivers come to look after you." With that, he turned and left.
Less than a minute later, two uniformed caregivers appeared.
There was no respect in their eyes for Olivia; instead, they looked at her with a hint of disdain. "Madam, your husband has instructed us to take good care of you."
Olivia pressed her lips together, ignoring them, and closed her eyes.
The caregivers didn't seem to notice she was resting and started chatting casually. "Speaking of which, Luca is so sweet to Windy. Just earlier, he came to ask me how to give a shoulder massage to someone who's feeling sore from work. He wanted to make sure he was doing it right."
Olivia's eyelids twitched slightly.
The other caregiver chimed in with a laugh. "A big-shot CEO like him, willing to give a girl a massage? That's so touching."
"Windy is gentle and pretty. She and Luca really look good together."
"Yeah, they have such a great relationship. If it weren't for…"
The two caregivers glanced at Olivia and stopped talking.
Even with her eyes closed, Olivia could feel their slightly hostile stares on her.
She found it almost laughable.
These provocative words couldn't have come from the caregivers on their own. Someone must have told them to say it.
And it was pretty obvious who that someone was.
But Olivia didn't even have the energy to get angry.
All she wanted was to get out of here after 24 hours and keep her pregnancy a secret.
Seeing that Olivia didn't respond, the caregivers lost interest and stopped talking.
A few minutes later, the door to the room opened again.
Olivia opened her eyes and met Luca's dark, unreadable gaze. He was holding a bag of medicine. Olivia's entire body tensed.
If Luca went to get medicine, the doctor must have checked her records and seen her prenatal checkup. Would the doctor reveal that she's pregnant?
Olivia's heart clenched, cold sweat forming on her back as she sat up abruptly. "You… you went to the doctor for medicine?"
Luca walked to the bedside, placed the medicine on the nightstand, and gestured for the caregivers to get some warm water. "I ran into your attending doctor on the way out. He said you're a bit anemic and malnourished, so I asked a few more questions about your condition."
He didn't continue. Olivia felt like she was on the verge of a heart attack, stammering, "A-and then?"
"The doctor said you're weak and need proper rest." Olivia secretly let out a sigh of relief.
The attending doctor had access to all her records and could see the medications she'd been prescribed.
For some reason, the doctor kept her pregnancy a secret.
Luca didn't miss the fleeting look of relief on Olivia's face. He lifted her chin with his fingers, his eyes filled with deep suspicion. "Olivia, are you hiding something from me? Is that pregnancy test report really Emma's?"
His gaze dropped to Olivia's stomach.
