Chapter 27 Left Her Again
The car arrived at the hospital, and Olivia headed straight to the neurology department.
Luca frowned. "Why are we in a place like this? Is there something wrong with your head?"
Olivia rolled her eyes, ignoring him, and knocked on the door before walking in.
Jason was already waiting in the treatment room. He paused for a moment when he saw Luca, but quickly regained his professional demeanor. He looked at Olivia with concern and asked, "You look pale. Didn't you rest well at home?" His gaze shifted to Luca, clearly showing his disapproval.
Luca replied coldly, "She has maids and a family doctor taking care of her at home. She's resting just fine. You don't need to worry." He couldn't help but glance at the treatment equipment in the room.
"Jason, let's get started," Olivia said.
She didn't want to waste time. She just wanted to finish the treatment quickly and get away from Luca.
Jason led her to the treatment chair, which was connected to a nebulizer with a mask and a device to monitor brain activity. "Don't be nervous, Olivia. This is just the first trial treatment. It's very gentle."
He handed her the mask. Olivia sat down, taking a deep breath but still feeling tense. She couldn't relax. She had no idea what was going to happen next.
Luca's phone rang. It was Windy calling.
Jason immediately reminded him, "We need silence during the treatment."
Luca stepped over to the window to take the call. "Luca, bad news! The partner's representative arrived at the company early. They're waiting for you in the meeting room right now."
Luca's face darkened. A major client showed up two hours early? This was urgent, and he had to handle it himself.
Meanwhile, Olivia was listening to Jason's explanation. Her eyes were full of nervousness and hesitation as she gripped the armrests.
Luca wanted to go over and tell her not to be scared, that he was there, but he remembered the call. Windy had no experience dealing with big clients and probably couldn't manage on her own.
"There's an emergency at the company. I have to go back right now. Take care of your treatment," Luca said, leaving without waiting for Olivia to respond.
The treatment room became quiet again.
"Are you okay, Olivia?" Jason asked softly.
Olivia shook her head, her voice low. "I'm fine. I'm used to it."
She really was. No matter what happened, big or small, Luca never helped her carry the weight. Even when she was scared just now, he didn't say a single comforting word.
Olivia took a deep breath. "I'll endure it. It won't be much longer anyway."
Jason looked at her tired face, feeling sorry for her. "Come on, let's start. Relax. I'll be with you the whole time."
Olivia nodded, this time firmly putting on the mask and lying back with her eyes closed.
Being scared wouldn't help. She had to face every difficulty in life on her own.
There was never anyone by her side she could rely on.
The treatment was indeed gentle, with no pain at all.
The medication, mixed with moist mist, slowly entered Olivia's nose.
Her tense nerves gradually relaxed.
Maybe it was the medicine, but she suddenly felt very sleepy. Her mind grew sluggish, and she slowly drifted off to sleep.
Olivia had a dream.
The dream was chaotic. It felt like she had fallen into water, her whole body freezing cold.
She struggled desperately but couldn't grab onto anything. Cold water kept pouring into her mouth and nose.
Her body seemed to turn into that of a little girl.
Olivia felt helpless in the water. She wanted to scream, but couldn't make a sound. Finally, she gave up struggling and sank to the bottom…
"Ah!" Olivia jolted awake, sitting up from the treatment chair, gasping for air. Her forehead was covered in cold sweat.
"Olivia, what's wrong?" Jason quickly supported her trembling body.
Olivia's heart was pounding. The suffocating feeling of nearly drowning and the pain of water in her lungs felt so real. She instinctively grabbed Jason's arm. "Jason, I dreamed I was drowning, but in the dream, I was just a little girl."
Jason's expression turned serious. He held her cold hand, guiding her to breathe deeply. "Don't be scared. It's just a dream, but it might be connected to some missing memories. Olivia, think carefully. Did you ever have an accident involving water when you were a child?"
Drowning…
Olivia tried to calm her breathing and thought hard.
Luca had mentioned that Windy saved him when he fell into the water, but she had never heard anything about herself being involved.
Other than that, she couldn't recall any stories related to drowning.
"I don't know," Olivia shook her head, confused. "My mom never mentioned anything. I only remember being very sick once and sleeping for a long time."
"Maybe that serious illness was related to drowning. You might have experienced trauma and lost some memories," Jason said, observing her reaction. "This first treatment showing some response is a good sign. It means your subconscious memories are starting to surface. Don't stress too much. Take it slow." He checked the time. "The treatment is over. How do you feel? Any dizziness or discomfort?"
Olivia just felt completely exhausted, both physically and mentally. She shook her head.
"Are you hungry? The hospital cafeteria has a new dessert chef. His brownies are really good. Something sweet might help lift your mood," Jason said, trying to distract her from overthinking.
Olivia did feel very hungry. She had barely eaten anything at the estate during lunch. She nodded. "Okay."
The two of them went to the hospital cafeteria together.
Jason bought some warm brownies. After eating, Olivia felt much more relaxed.
In the afternoon, she followed Jason to the obstetrics and gynecology department for a check-up. Her health indicators showed she was slightly better than a couple of days ago.
Jason drove her back home and reminded her, "Try to stay calm. Make sure to eat regular meals, get enough sleep, and take care of yourself this month. You'll start feeling better soon."
Olivia nodded and thanked him.
Before leaving, they scheduled the next treatment session.
Back at home, Olivia changed into comfortable loungewear, opened her laptop, and started handling some simple work emails.
She was still on sick leave and hadn't officially reported to the project department.
As the sky grew dark, Olivia was about to finish up when she heard faint noises from downstairs.
Soon, a maid knocked on her door. "Madam, Master and Miss Windy are having dinner in the dining room. They asked you to join them."
"I'm not hungry," Olivia refused directly, instantly losing her mood.
But within ten minutes, there was another knock at the door.
Windy came in holding a plate of pasta. She flashed a sweet, harmless smile, her tone a bit flattering. "I heard from the maid that you're not hungry, so I made some pasta for you. Want to try it?"
Olivia immediately stood up and stopped Windy, her voice cold. "No. Please leave."
Windy's smile froze for a moment, but she didn't leave.
She stepped closer, putting on a wronged expression. "Olivia, are you upset about yesterday? Luca got drunk last night, so I took care of him. If you're going to blame someone, blame me."
