Chapter 198 Interrogation
Olivia shook her head quickly and said helplessly, "Grandpa, it's not your fault. Windy disguised herself too well—no one saw through it. Please don't take it to heart. Just focus on getting better; that's more important than anything."
She really didn't blame Grandpa. After all, he had been tricked by Windy, and he cared about her so much.
Grandpa looked at her sensible expression and felt even more heartbroken. He turned and glared at Luca, his tone stricter. "What about you? Haven't you explained what happened back then to Olivia yet?"
Luca stiffened. He knew he couldn't dodge it anymore. It was time to tell Grandpa the full truth and let Olivia hear it again.
He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and looked at Grandpa and Olivia seriously. His tone was solemn. "Grandpa, Olivia, there's something I have to make clear. Back then, the person who saved me by the lake wasn't Windy—it was Olivia."
Grandpa had expected it, but he still froze for a moment, a complicated look in his eyes.
Olivia stayed calm. Luca had told her about this long ago; she already knew the truth.
Luca's voice was full of guilt and self-blame as he looked at Olivia with apologetic eyes. "Olivia, I'm sorry. I was foolish and stupid. I wrongly trusted Windy. I treated my benefactor like an enemy and the enemy like my benefactor. I made you suffer for five years, raising our child alone and wandering from place to place. I know one apology isn't enough, but I'll spend my whole life making it up to you and paying you back."
Olivia saw his guilty look and softened. She gently shook her head. "It's all in the past. I don't blame you."
She really didn't. She remembered nothing, so those hardships were just stories other people told her.
Grandpa sighed, his tone full of regret. "It's my fault. I didn't check things properly back then, and you suffered so much. From now on, stay by Luca's side without worry. With me here, no one will dare bully you."
Olivia nodded with a gentle smile. "Thank you, Grandpa."
Luca watched her, full of gratitude, and even more determined to treat her right.
He knew he owed her too much to ever repay fully. He could only make it up with his companionship and love for the rest of his life.
"Grandpa, rest well. I'll go handle Windy and be back soon," Luca said.
Grandpa nodded. "Go. Be safe, don't get too rash, but don't let that woman off easy."
"Don't worry, Grandpa. I know my limits." Luca turned to Olivia, his tone softening instantly. "Olivia, stay here with Grandpa. Wait for me nicely, don't wander off. Call me if anything comes up."
Olivia nodded and tugged at his shirt corner, her voice showing just the right worry. "Be careful. Don't go head-to-head with her."
She knew Luca was tough and wouldn't lose out, but she still worried.
Luca felt a warmth in his chest. He ruffled her hair and kissed her forehead. "Don't worry. I'll be back soon."
Then he turned and strode out of the room. His eyes turned ice-cold, and a scary chill radiated from him.
Windy, this time I won't let you go. You owe me, Olivia, and Grandpa—I'll make you pay every bit back.
Olivia watched him leave and let out a small sigh of relief. At least she didn't have to keep pretending.
Grandpa smiled at her. "Don't worry. Luca knows what he's doing; he'll be fine. Relax like you're at home. Sit and rest if you're tired."
Olivia nodded, sat in the chair by the bed, and kept Grandpa company, mostly listening as he talked about the old days.
She listened carefully and memorized details to avoid slipping up later and to learn more about her past self.
Meanwhile, Luca got in his car and called his assistant right away, his voice icy. "Bring Windy to me at the empty villa in the suburbs. I want to ask her myself what drug she gave Grandpa and how much else she's been hiding."
The assistant didn't hesitate. "Yes, Mr. Vettel. I'll get her and bring her over fast."
Luca hung up, gripped the wheel hard—his knuckles went white—and rage burned in his eyes.
Thinking of Windy drugging Grandpa, fooling him for years, and all the pain Olivia went through made him want to tear her apart on the spot.
The car sped to the suburbs and pulled up at the empty villa. It was remote and rundown, with tight security and great soundproofing.
It was a spot he'd set up long ago for locking up people with bad intentions who owed him.
Luca got out, went inside, and sat on the living room sofa. His cold aura dropped the room temperature several degrees.
Soon the assistant arrived with Windy, held by two bodyguards. Her face was pale, but her eyes held a spark of defiance.
"Luca, what the hell do you want? Why bring me here?" Windy yelled as soon as she walked in.
She was nervous inside but acted tough. She figured Luca had second thoughts and wouldn't hurt her.
Luca glanced at her, eyes cold as ice, voice dripping sarcasm. "What do I want? Windy, you really don't know? You put stuff in Linus's soup and kept him out cold for so long. Think I wouldn't find out?"
Windy's face changed in an instant, panic flashing in her eyes. But she pulled herself together fast and started denying it. "I didn't! Luca, don't believe the lies! I've always been good to Linus—how could I do something so awful? It has to be that bitch Olivia framing me!"
Even now, she was throwing dirt on Olivia and still trying to lie her way out.
Luca sneered, stood up, and walked toward her step by step. His pressure made her back away.
"Framing you?" he mocked. "Windy, you think I'll buy that? Nursing home cameras, records of you delivering the soup, your supplier, your chats, and money transfers with him—I have it all. How long are you gonna keep lying? How long are you gonna kid yourself?"
Windy's face drained of color. She started shaking, and the panic showed plainly in her eyes.
She never thought he'd dig this deep into the details. She knew she was done.
But she wouldn't quit. She kept denying it stubbornly. "No... it wasn't me! Really! It was Olivia. She's jealous of me being by your side all these years, so she's setting me up!"
Luca watched her freak out and felt sick. The disgust in his eyes grew. "Still lying? You've always eyed our family's money, always wanted Olivia's place. That's why you went after Linus, right?"
