Chapter 192 Nightmare
She suddenly opened her eyes, covered in cold sweat, her chest heaving hard, her breathing fast and short.
"Don't... stay away..." she mumbled without thinking, her eyes full of fear.
Luca, on the bed next to hers, woke up from the noise. He rolled out of bed right away and hurried to her side.
"Olivia? What's wrong?" he called softly, his voice full of worry.
Olivia saw him and sat up fast, like grabbing a lifeline. She threw herself into his arms, her body still shaking: "I dreamed about Jason... He locked me up again..."
Luca held her tight and patted her back to calm her: "Don't be scared. I'm right here. He can't hurt you anymore."
He could feel how frightened she was, and anger rushed through him.
It was all that bastard Jason's fault! If it weren't for him, Olivia wouldn't have gone through so much pain or have these deep mental scars.
"It's okay now. It's all over," he whispered softly, his voice so gentle. "I'll stay with you always. No one will hurt you again."
Olivia leaned into his arms, listening to his strong heartbeat and feeling his warm hold. Her fear slowly went away.
She cried for a bit until she calmed down. Then she looked up at Luca: "Sorry I woke you up."
"Why say sorry to me?" Luca wiped the tears from her face. "Thirsty? I'll get you some warm water."
He helped her lie back down and turned to pour the water.
Olivia watched his back, her heart full of warmth.
When Luca came back with the water, she saw red blood seeping through the bandage on his back. He'd rushed over too fast to comfort her, and the wound had reopened.
"Your wound!" Olivia's heart tightened. She sat up quick, her voice full of guilt. "It's my fault. If I hadn't had that nightmare, it wouldn't have reopened."
"It's nothing, just a little cut," Luca said with a casual smile as he handed her the cup. "Drink some water and get more sleep."
"What do you mean little? It's bleeding!" Olivia set the cup aside and got up to call the doctor. "I'll get the doctor to fix it!"
"No need to make a fuss," Luca said, pulling her back. "I can handle it myself."
"No way! The doctor has to check it!" Olivia was firm. "Can't you stop ignoring your body like this? The wound isn't healed yet. How can you keep moving around?"
Her tone had a bit of scolding, but her eyes were full of worry.
Luca saw how anxious she was and felt warm inside. He nodded right away: "Okay, you win. Call the doctor."
Olivia hit the call button at once. The doctor came quick and fixed Luca's wound again.
The doctor warned, "Rest that wound properly. No more hard movements or getting too worked up, or it'll reopen easy."
"Got it, thanks, doctor." Olivia nodded, saw the doctor out, then sat by Luca's bed. Her face still looked upset.
"Don't be mad," Luca said, holding her hand. "I'll take care of myself from now on, so you won't worry."
"I'm not mad. I'm worried about you," Olivia said, looking at him. "You always put others first and never think about yourself."
"Because you're more important than me," Luca said seriously. "As long as you're okay, a little injury is no big deal."
Olivia felt warm inside, her eyes getting red again.
She looked into Luca's sincere eyes, hesitated, then said softly: "About what you said last time, I agree."
"What thing?" Luca was puzzled for a second, then got it. His eyes lit up with joy. "You agree... to take me back?"
Olivia nodded, her cheeks a little pink: "Yeah. I want to give you a chance, and give myself one too."
Luca was so excited he almost jumped out of bed but held back. He hugged her tight: "That's great! Olivia, thank you! Thank you for giving me another chance!"
He was so happy he leaned down to kiss her lips.
But right when his lips were about to touch hers, Olivia turned her head away on instinct.
The air went quiet in a second.
Luca froze, feeling a bit down, but he calmed down fast.
He knew she agreed to start over, but she still felt a little distant inside. He couldn't rush it.
"Sorry, I got too eager," he said, letting her go with some regret in his voice. "I'll wait for you until you're ready."
Olivia felt bad."It's not you. It's me... I'm not used to it yet."
"I know," Luca said with a smile, touching her hair. "It's fine. We'll go slow. No hurry."
That night, Olivia slept soundly with no more nightmares.
In the middle of the night, she woke up to use the bathroom. When she got to the door, she heard Luca talking to his assistant outside.
"Boss, Jason's been caught. All his men are in custody too. Not one got away," the assistant said.
"Good," Luca said coldly. "Watch him close. Don't let him try any tricks."
"Don't worry, boss. It's all set with 24-hour guards," the assistant said. "Also, that other thing you asked about has some leads."
Olivia's heart jumped. She remembered Sophia.
If Sophia hadn't told her the truth and helped her, she couldn't have escaped so smoothly.
Now Jason was caught—what about Sophia? Was she in danger?
She pushed the door open and went out. "You said Jason was caught?"
Luca and the assistant were both surprised. They didn't expect her to wake up.
"Why are you up? Did we wake you?" Luca hurried over, full of worry.
"No, I just wanted some water," Olivia said, shaking her head. She looked at the assistant. "I want to ask—Jason's caught, what about the people around him? Is there a woman named Sophia?"
The assistant froze and looked at Luca with confusion.
Luca's face darkened a little. He felt uneasy inside.
"Why ask about her?" he said, a hint of jealousy in his tone. "You worried about her?"
"It's not like that," Olivia said, seeing his mix-up. She explained fast: "Sophia wasn't one of Jason's. She was my assistant before. She told me the truth and helped me find a way out. Without her, I couldn't have escaped Jason's villa or seen you so soon."
She paused, worry in her eyes: "I just want to know how she is now. Is she okay?"
Hearing this, Luca's jealousy faded right away, replaced by guilt.
He shouldn't have doubted her.
"Sorry, I jumped to conclusions," he said, holding her hand. "Don't worry. I've already sent people to track down Sophia. We'll find her and keep her safe."
"Really?" Olivia's eyes filled with joy.
"Really," Luca nodded. "Once we find her, I'll thank her properly."
