Chapter 175 Injured
Not long after, Emma got the message and rushed over.
Seeing Olivia safe and sound, she ran up and hugged her tight, tears streaming down her face.
"Liv, you're finally okay. You scared me to death!" Emma's voice choked up. "It's all my fault. I couldn't find you guys sooner and let you and Leo go through so much."
"I'm fine. We're all fine." Olivia patted her back, feeling warm inside.
Luca's assistant walked over and said respectfully to Olivia, "Miss Olivia, don't worry. Mr. Vettel had the whole mountain area locked down. Jason can't get away. You just linked up with the rescue route."
Olivia's heart finally settled completely. She let out a long breath.
The car drove straight to a safe villa in the city.
Security was tight here. No one could bother them anymore.
Olivia put Leo on the bed. Exhausted from days of scares and tiredness, the kid fell asleep fast.
His little brows were still furrowed a bit, which made him look extra heartbreaking.
Olivia stayed right by the bed, not moving an inch. She gently stroked her son's hair.
As long as the child was safe, she wasn't scared of anything.
Soon, the doctor came to check him out.
The doctor examined Leo carefully and smiled at Olivia. "Don't worry. The kid's okay. Just some shock and days of exhaustion. A few days of rest and he'll be good as new. No other injuries, so no need to stress."
Olivia fully relaxed after hearing that. Her eyes got a little red.
She stood up and went to the window, looking toward the deep mountains. Her heart was full of worry for Luca.
Guards stood at the villa door, making sure they were totally safe.
Emma stayed by her side. Seeing Olivia so out of it, she sighed softly. "Don't worry. Luca's so tough. He'll be fine."
"Mm." Olivia nodded, but her heart was still racing.
"This time, we really owe that administrator. He risked everything to help us," Emma said.
"Yeah, there are still more good people out there," Olivia said softly.
Without him, they'd still be stuck in the mountains. The outcome doesn't bear thinking about.
She'd remember this favor and pay it back properly someday.
As they talked, the assistant called.
Olivia picked up right away, her voice shaking a little. "How's it going? Is Luca okay?"
"Miss Ross, don't worry. Mr. Vettel is fine," the assistant said. "Jason and all his men are under control. Police are on the way for legal action."
Olivia's heart dropped for good. She felt like all her energy drained out.
It was finally over. The nightmare was done.
She hung up and leaned on the window. Tears fell without stopping.
The fear, worry, and helplessness from these days all poured out.
Emma rushed over and hugged her, soothing her softly. "It's okay now. It's all past."
"Mm, it's all past." Olivia sniffed and tried to calm down.
Emma looked at her and teased, "You still gonna say you have no feelings for Luca?"
Olivia's cheeks turned pink right away. She looked away, uncomfortable. "I'm just worried. He helped save us. It'd be bad if something happened to him."
"Come on. That nervous look fools others, not me," Emma laughed. "Luca really changed this time. To find you guys, he turned that whole mountain upside down."
Olivia didn't reply, but something different stirred in her heart.
She'd seen all Luca had done these days.
From charging into the mountains to search no matter what, to shielding them behind him—it quietly melted the walls in her heart.
She wasn't pushing back like before. Her heart was starting to soften.
"I know he did a lot this time," Olivia said softly, her voice quiet. "But past hurts don't just vanish."
"I get it. Take your time. Don't push yourself," Emma said, holding her hand. "As long as you're not shutting him out anymore, it's a good start."
Olivia nodded and looked at the sky brightening outside.
Sunlight came through the window, chasing away all the gloom.
She glanced down at Leo sleeping on the bed. A gentle smile curved her lips.
Things were getting better bit by bit. Their lives could finally go back to normal.
By the time Luca finished handling everything and got to the villa, the sun was up.
Olivia heard him and turned. She spotted the red veins in his eyes right away.
He was dusty all over. His jacket had grass and mud from the mountains. He looked dead tired, but forced a gentle look when he saw her.
Her chest tightened hard. The panic and fear she'd just pushed down surged back up.
Luca walked toward her slowly, steps light like he didn't want to wake Leo.
"Sorry," he said. His voice was rough and dry from days on the go. "I got here late. Let you and Leo suffer so much."
Olivia saw the dark circles under his eyes. Her nose stung for no reason. She couldn't speak for a while.
She could guess how rough these days had been for him.
She should act cold, but looking at his pale lips, she couldn't toughen up.
"You... sit down first." She looked away. Her voice sounded off.
Emma saw the mood and stood up quick. "You two talk. I'll go downstairs, check on food, and make some breakfast."
The door closed softly. Now it was just the two of them in the room, plus Leo's steady breathing.
Luca didn't sit. He stood a few steps from the bed, looking at her quietly.
His gaze was so intense and heavy that it made Olivia's cheeks heat up.
"Are you hurt?" She couldn't hold back and asked first.
The assistant had said he was fine, but she could tell something was wrong at a glance.
His face was pale as sheet. His stance was stiff. He was clearly pushing through.
Luca paused. He hadn't expected that to be her first question.
His heart warmed up, then ached all over.
"Just a small cut. No big deal."
"Small cut?" Olivia looked up sharp, her voice getting louder without thinking. "Don't hide stuff from me like before."
Just imagining him searching or fighting while hurt made her heart race out of control.
That's how he was back then—never saying a word, handling it all alone, and ending up hurting everyone.
Luca saw the real worry in her eyes. His throat moved.
"It's really not bad. Just pulled an old injury a bit, plus no sleep," he said, trying to play it down so she wouldn't freak. "Got it treated. No problem."
Olivia stared at him for seconds. His eyes dodged, his tone casual. She got it right away.
He was hiding it.
"I'll get the doctor now." She stood up to head out.
