Chapter 125 Uncle LO, I'm Sorry
Olivia froze for a moment, following Leo's gaze. She only caught a glimpse of a tall figure hurrying away. It looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't see the face.
"Leo, who were you calling just now?" Olivia asked, confused.
"It's the kind uncle who saved me last time!" Leo said excitedly. "He's Uncle LO, the one who always sends gifts to my livestream!"
Olivia's heart skipped a beat, and the cup in her hand nearly slipped onto the table.
That mysterious kind stranger was actually LO, the person who had been supporting Leo's livestream all this time?
She never would have guessed that these two identities belonged to the same person.
"Are you sure you didn't mistake him for someone else?" Olivia pressed, her mind reeling with shock.
"No way! I remember his back, and even his scent—it's the same as when I saw him at the hospital!" Leo nodded confidently. "Plus, we agreed to keep it a secret and not tell you, Mom."
"A secret? When did you two make that agreement?" Olivia grew even more puzzled.
Leo stuck out his tongue, looking a bit embarrassed. "It was when Uncle LO took me back to kindergarten last time. He said it's our little secret and I shouldn't tell you. He also said he'd come to see me often and even pick me up from school."
Olivia's emotions churned inside her. So, the person she'd been so grateful to and curious about was LO all along.
Instinctively, she stood up and ran toward the door. "I'll go check!"
But by the time she got outside the restaurant, the street was bustling with people. There was no sign of that figure anywhere.
She looked around for a while but didn't see anyone. Disappointed, she walked back inside.
Jason noticed her unusual behavior and felt a surge of caution. "What's wrong? Who's this Uncle LO?"
Olivia sat back down and explained to Jason how Leo had been in danger and was saved by a kind stranger. She also mentioned how she'd always wanted to thank that person but never knew who they were.
"I never imagined that kind stranger would turn out to be LO, the one supporting Leo's livestream," Olivia said, her voice full of surprise.
Jason frowned, a bad feeling creeping into his mind. "Do you know this person? Do you have any idea who he is?"
"No, he's always been very mysterious and never shared anything about himself," Olivia shook her head. She took out her phone, looked at the temporary number she'd saved earlier, hesitated for a moment, and then sent a text.
[Hi, this is Olivia. I think I saw you at the restaurant just now. Are you LO?]
After sending the message, she stared at her phone, feeling both hopeful and nervous.
But after waiting for a while, there was no reply.
Olivia felt a bit let down and annoyed with herself. Maybe she was too forward. Perhaps he was just passing by and didn't mean to avoid her.
Staring at her phone screen, she couldn't help but wonder—who exactly was this LO?
Why did he keep supporting Leo's livestream anonymously? And why didn't he reveal his identity after saving Leo?
Did he have kids of his own, which is why he was so kind to Leo? Or did he just like children?
All sorts of thoughts swirled in her mind, making her even more curious.
Not far from the restaurant, at a street corner, Luca and his assistant were hiding behind a tree. They watched Olivia return to the restaurant and finally let out a sigh of relief.
They had almost been recognized just now. Good thing he reacted quickly.
Luca took out his phone and saw Olivia's message. His fingers paused for a moment before he replied with just a question mark.
When Olivia saw the reply, her heart lifted, and she quickly sent another message: [Was it you who saved Leo last time? And have you been the one supporting his livestream? I'm so grateful to you. I wanted to treat you to dinner before, but you didn't agree. When are you free? I really want to thank you in person.]
Luca read the message, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
After thinking for a bit, he replied: [It was no big deal, no need to be so polite. I'm glad the kid is okay. I've got something to do, so I'll get going.]
After sending it, he put away his phone and turned to his assistant. "Let's go."
He was worried that if they kept chatting, he might accidentally reveal his identity. It wasn't the right time yet.
Back in the restaurant, Olivia read the reply. Though she still had many questions, she could tell he didn't want to talk anymore. She decided not to push further, but she kept this kindness in her heart.
Leo looked at Olivia, lowering his head with a guilty expression. "Mom, did I do something wrong? I told you our secret. Will Uncle LO be mad at me?"
He had promised Uncle LO to keep it a secret, but he couldn't hold back and called out to him, then spilled everything to his mom.
Olivia gently patted his head and said softly, "You didn't do anything wrong. Leo, you're very honest, and I'm glad you told me the truth. Uncle LO is so nice, he definitely won't be mad. If he knows you care about him this much, he might even be happy."
"Really?" Leo looked up, his eyes full of hope.
"Really," Olivia nodded. "How about we send Uncle LO a voice message to apologize? Does that sound good?"
Leo nodded eagerly. "Yes!"
Olivia opened her phone, found LO's chat, and turned on the voice recording.
Leo spoke softly into the phone. "Uncle LO, I'm sorry. I accidentally told Mom our secret. Please don't be mad, okay? I'll be good from now on, and I'll draw lots of nice pictures for you!"
After sending the voice message, Leo let out a sigh of relief, a smile returning to his face.
Meanwhile, in the car, Luca had just opened his phone when he heard Leo's sweet little apology. His heart melted instantly, and he couldn't hide the smile on his face.
How could he ever be mad at Leo? He was overjoyed, if anything.
But at the same time, his heart ached. He wanted so badly to tell Leo that he was his dad, but he knew it wasn't the right time.
The assistant, sitting in the front, glanced at Luca through the rearview mirror and sighed quietly to himself. The boss really cared so much about this mother and son.
Jason watched Olivia and Leo's interaction, feeling uneasy. He could sense that this mysterious Uncle LO was becoming increasingly important to Olivia and Leo.
But he didn't say much. Instead, he picked up the menu and ordered a dessert for Leo.
After dinner, Jason drove Olivia and Leo back to their neighborhood.
"Go on up and get some rest. Call me if anything comes up," Jason said, his tone calm again.
"Thanks for driving us back and for treating us to dinner," Olivia nodded, holding Leo's hand as they walked into the neighborhood.
Back home, Leo played for a while before getting sleepy. After Olivia tucked him in, she took out her phone and opened her chat with Emma.
Olivia: [Hey, are you there? I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations for a car suitable for picking up kids.]
Emma replied almost instantly: [Why the sudden interest in buying a car? Didn't you say you weren't planning to get one for now?]
Olivia: [It's such a hassle to carry so much stuff every time I pick up Leo. Having a car would make things a lot easier.]
Emma: [True, a car is handy for dropping off and picking up kids. What's your budget? What kind are you looking for?]
Olivia: [Around 15 grand or so. Nothing fancy, just something with good safety features and enough space. Also, it should be easy to drive since you know my driving skills.]
Emma: [Why don't you go to a dealership and check out some cars in person? Test drive a few to see how they feel and if they're comfortable to handle.]
Olivia: [That's what I was thinking. I'm planning to visit a dealership tomorrow.]
