Chapter 110 Smash Her Mouth
Chapter 110 Smash Her Mouth
7 PM. The city lights were coming on.
The Moon Lounge was Harmony City's most exclusive private dining club — the kind of place you simply couldn't get into unless you ran in the right circles.
Mason was walking Ophelia straight to his private suite when the manager stepped in front of them the moment they got off the elevator, his face completely drained of color.
"Mr. Smith, I'm so sorry — your private suite has been taken by someone else."
A flicker of surprise crossed Ophelia's eyes.
"Who took it?" Mason asked.
"It was... Mr. Steven Smith." The manager had beads of sweat on his forehead and couldn't bring himself to meet Mason's eyes.
Both Steven and Mason were people he couldn't afford to cross. Steven had used Mason's suite before, but it had never overlapped with this before. Today was just his bad luck.
Mason sighed and turned to Ophelia. "Steven is my uncle's son. The family's spoiled him rotten. Let's just use a different suite tonight."
Ophelia nodded, and Mason turned to the manager. "Get us another suite with the same setup."
"Right away, sir!" The manager quickly arranged a suite that matched Mason's private one in every way.
After they were seated, Ophelia stood up and said quietly, "I'm going to the restroom."
She walked down the quiet hallway and had just turned the corner when she ran straight into Claire. Claire was dressed head to toe in designer labels, her makeup flawless, radiating the kind of confidence that came from feeling superior to everyone around her.
The moment she saw Ophelia, contempt filled her eyes.
She stepped in front of Ophelia and looked down at her. "Well, if it isn't Ophelia. The Moon Lounge is for the elite. It's not somewhere a nobody like you just wanders into."
Ophelia glanced at her and tried to step around her, but that only made Claire push further.
Claire moved to block her again, chin lifted. "I know you can't accept it, but the gap between us is something you were born into — you can't change that. I don't know how you got in here, but I'm telling you, know your place. Don't embarrass yourself."
She then deliberately raised her wrist to show off her diamond bracelet, the smugness in her eyes impossible to hide. "See that suite down there? That's Steven's private suite. I'm having dinner with him tonight. You're Mason's fiancée, and I have a shot at becoming part of the Smith family too. So we'll see who ends up bowing to who."
Her expression turned cold. "Ophelia, I'm warning you — stop trying to outshine me at every turn. Once I'm part of the Smith family, don't even bother trying to get on my good side. I won't give you the time of day."
Steven had just told her that while Mason was the current Smith family heir, Jasper actually favored his younger son Victor — Steven's father — the most.
So Mason's position as heir was more title than substance. Who would actually take over the Smith family was still up in the air.
As long as she locked down Steven, she'd have nothing to envy about Ophelia.
Ophelia found the whole thing almost funny.
"Is that so? I'll be waiting for the good news then." Someone who couldn't even book a suite at The Moon Lounge — Ophelia seriously doubted Steven had what it took to become the Smith family heir.
Neither of them realized that Mason had heard every word.
"You just said that was Steven's private suite?" Mason's expression went cold in an instant. He walked over to Ophelia's side, his low, sharp voice making Claire's blood run cold.
"Y-yes..."
Mason didn't spare Claire another glance. He walked up to the suite door and called out, "Steven. Get out here."
Steven was inside, leisurely sipping wine, when he heard Mason's voice. He startled so badly he spilled the entire glass on himself. He forced himself to walk out with a sheepish grin. "Mason? What a coincidence — you're here too?"
"You had the nerve to take my private suite? Who gave you that idea?" Mason had let it go earlier because he didn't want to ruin Ophelia's evening, but Claire's words — the way she'd humiliated Ophelia using Steven's name — changed things.
He'd clearly been too lenient with Steven lately. The guy had started to think he actually had some standing.
Steven's face went pale. He kept apologizing. "Mason, I was wrong. I just wanted to borrow your suite for dinner, nothing more, I swear."
Claire stood frozen nearby, her mind completely blank.
So this was Mason's private suite all along. Everything Steven had said was just empty boasting. And look at him now — cowering in front of Mason like that. There was no way he could ever take Mason's place as the Smith family heir.
She had just mocked Ophelia, and now it turned out she was the biggest joke of all. Humiliation and shame crashed over her all at once. She wanted to disappear on the spot.
Mason looked at them both with cold indifference. "Get out, both of you. Steven — if you want my position, come at me. I'd love to see what you've got."
Steven panicked. His knees buckled, and he dropped to the floor in front of Mason. "Mason, I was wrong! I never had any thoughts like that — it was all this woman; she made it up, I swear!"
Mason ignored him completely and turned his gaze to Claire. He waved over a bodyguard who had been waiting in the shadows. "Drag her out and teach that mouth of hers a lesson."
"No! Please, Mr. Mason Smith!" Claire dropped to her knees beside Steven, begging desperately. "It was all Steven — he's the one who said he'd replace you as the Smith family heir. What I said... I was just joking, honestly. Ophelia is my sister. Why would I ever humiliate her? It was all a misunderstanding!"
Ophelia's lips curved slightly. "No misunderstanding. My sister has always dreamed of humiliating me."
The moment she finished speaking, the waiting bodyguard stepped forward and dragged Claire away.
As she was hauled off, a deep and bitter hatred took root in Claire's chest. Her eyes stayed locked on Ophelia, burning with a rage that could kill.
Steven, publicly dressed down and stripped of all dignity, was left seething with resentment.
Once Mason walked Ophelia back to their suite and they were out of sight, Steven went after the bodyguard who was taking Claire away.
Claire thought Steven had come to save her. Before she could feel any relief, he slapped her hard across the face.
"Bitch."
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She was furious, but she didn't dare say a word. She just had to swallow it. Steven might not be Mason's equal, but he was still someone she couldn't afford to cross.
That night, Claire waited until her parents were asleep before slipping back home, her face swollen badly. She blamed every single thing that had happened tonight on Ophelia and swore she would make her pay.
She was just drifting off to sleep, trying to ignore the pain, when Steven's call jolted her awake. She answered with a knot in her stomach.
"That woman with Mason tonight — she's your sister?" Steven asked.
