Us now...

LATTON can sense the change in Lucian's expression. It pains her to see him like that, but for her, Lucian deserves to hear the truth, no matter how ugly it is.

She sighed and with quivering lips, she began to speak, "Back in Mexico, I spent the night with Henri." She mumbled gently.

He held the steering wheel firmly and gritted his teeth.

"Okay." He muttered as he swallowed slowly. Doing his best to calm his nerves.

He laughs awkwardly, unsure how to take it in, "W...we are not an official couple yet... and I... I slept with a lot of women before meeting you. We can call that quits. What matters is us... now," he replied stutteringly.

He clears his throat, "He is imprisoned in Mexico, and he is going to stay there, right?" He asks enthusiastically.

She glances away, "I reached out to a few influential people and paid for his deportation back to the US where he would be sentenced to stay in a mental institution," she uttered.

He nodded then exhaled, "But I want to know, if he did not commit a crime would you have fallen..."

She cuts him off, "I already did."

His heart sank. "Then it's a good thing he will be in prison." He mumbled in despair.

She smiled bitterly. "He was so gentle. He made me feel what certainty looks like. He says the words and then does them. He knows what he wants, and sets a goal to get it. He was never confused about how he felt. I could bust him out of jail, then we could have gone to Wiltshire to hide." She explains.

"Latton!?" He mumbles in pain. "I'm here, and I'm planning to stay--"

She gasped, "You've told me that several times, and you kept on breaking it." She uttered.

He could feel the sorrow in her eyes, but he didn't have the strength to hold her as he was having difficulty breathing. His heart was breaking, he could sense a heavy rock pressing on his heart and a huge lump in his throat muffling all the words he wanted to yell out.

The ambiance in the car soon turns dead silent.

Hearing no answer from him, she slowly opened the car door and got out to get fresh air.

He soon followed her.

She turned around to look at him, "I'm bad news. A bad seed. I cost Henri his entire life. If I hadn't followed him into their farmhouse. I wouldn't have shot his uncle or run over that guard." She muttered guiltily while crossing her arms. "Do you still want me?"

He nods.

She gasped in surprise.

He heaves deeply, "It pains me so much, but it will hurt me more when you're not with me. Especially knowing I have you within my reach." He explains, then extends his arm.

She gladly took it. He wraps his arms around her.

"You're stupid." She whispered as tears rolled down her eyes.

He nods, "I am. I had a lot of chances and time to be with you and wasted it." He replied, his voice almost cracking as he began to cry.

She broke from their embrace, "I'm sorry." She uttered.

"For what?" He inquired nervously as he held her hands tightly. Thinking something bad is about to happen again. His mind is racing, and a million scenarios run through his mind.

"Even if he gets you pregnant. I'll be more than willing to raise the child as a mind," he blurted out.

She laughs, "What are you talking about?" She asks.

He shook his head and couldn't think properly. "I... I don't know," he exclaimed.

Her eyes dilated and sensed that he misunderstood her words, "Lucian. Get a hold of yourself. Not everyone thinks using their dick." She says as she holds his face and kisses him. "I kissed a few men, but I only slept with you." She remarks.

He narrowed his eyes in puzzlement, "What about Henri?" He inquired curiously.

"We kissed, cried a lot and I spent the night talking to him, to persuade him to accept that promises are meant to be broken, and some debts aren't made to be paid." She commented. "I might sound hypocritical, but I did fall in love with him, but I grew up and aged and time changed everything. I won't be haunted by a promise and debt that I made more than a decade ago." She glances away.

"Fulfilling something that was sworn long ago will only lead to misery and I know none of us will be happy. Not me. Not Henri and not you." She states while her gaze travels around him.

He smiled gleefully, carried her by the waist, and swirled her around.

"Lucian!?" She exclaimed. "You're making me dizzy."

He laughs, then puts her down. He stared at her eyes. "Now that Shirley is gone. Malena is minding her own life. You put an end to Xavier's scheme and let go of Henri. All of our loose ends are done. We can be together now," he declared with certainty.

She grinned faintly.

He held her cheek and slowly leaned for a gentle kiss. "I love you, Latton." He mumbled softly.

She blushed and was unsure how to respond. She smiled awkwardly, "Drive me home?" She blurted out.

His brows furrowed, "Sure." He uttered. His face expressed disappointment but masked it with a faint smile.

Soon they drove away.

She could sense the huge shift in his mood, "I'm scared, Lucian." She stated.

He narrowed his gaze, "Is it because you're afraid I will hurt you again?" He asks in concern.

She nods.

He smiled awkwardly, "I will prove to you that I won't. If I need to take things slow till you trust me again, I will," he declared.

"What if I only bring misery to you?" She inquired as she leaned on her seat.

He smirked, "Then let me be miserable with you." He responded with a gleeful tone.

Soon they arrived at Ripley Manor.

He opened the car door for her and offered to carry her inside.

She was dumbfounded, "You don't need to do that."

"You're tired, and I'm your slave." He says coaxingly while pointing at his back where his tattoo is located. "I won't do anything that you don’t like."

She laughs. "Silly." She uttered.

Shortly, he carried her to her room in bridal style.

He felt familiarity, "Have I been here before?" he inquired as he glanced around her room.

She nods. "Once. During my stepmother's wake. I was asleep when you came, but Dolan told me that you entered through the balcony." She remarks while pointing at the balcony.

He marched towards it, and soon he saw flashes of memories.

He can vividly remember how he ripped his suit while going down.

He smiled, "I do remember that," he exclaimed proudly, but she did not respond to his remarks.

He glanced at her and saw she was already asleep. He smiled then marched to her and planted a kiss on her forehead.
