Conversation Of A lifetime

THE car honks at her. She felt a lump on her chest. “I should have taken the key with me or driven that damn car,” she said to herself.

The car soon got near her, "Get in the car, Latton. Get in the damn car... Please..." A man yelled in concern.

“Lucian,” she mumbled under her breath. She felt an instant relief but hesitated to enter his car. For her, once she rode with him, she would cling and believe him all over again.

He opens the passenger car door.

“Get in.” He uttered.

She glances at his gloomy face. Sensing that no other cars were coming her way, she entered his car.

“Why are you here? How did you find me?” She asks curiously.

He didn't speak and only drove.

"Where are you taking me?" She asks.

"I don't know." He replied, as he floored the car. “I saw you get in his vehicle, followed you, then lost you in the intersection. Why are you walking on the roadside?”

She lowered her head, “Bad date.” She uttered.

“Are your memories back?” She asks. Changing the topic.

“No. But I’ve seen the footage, and it is more than enough to remind me how important you are.” He replied.

She frowned, "Stop the car, Lucian." She yelled.

"I don't want to stop. If I stop, you'll leave." He remarks.

"I won't please park the car," she asks worriedly, her eyes fixed on the road. He soon swerved the car to the roadside and parked.

He heaved profoundly, "It was Shirley.” He muttered.

She glanced at him with scrutiny and confusion.

“She… She sent the restraining order, not me. I told her to back away." He mumbled, then looked at her intently with pleading eyes, "Please don't fall in love with someone else. Give me a chance to show you I'm ready to commit..." He appealed.

She was stunned momentarily, "Aren't you selfish?" She responded mockingly. "I'm tired of this cat-and-mouse game of yours. You make me believe that you like me, then when I'm at the highest peak of my emotions, you push me away and stump on my feelings."

Hands trembling, he reached for her, "La---"

She cuts him off. "I've given you too much of me, Lucian." She says and is about to open the car door to leave when suddenly it starts raining heavily. Exhausted, she slouched on the passenger seat. Both of them stared blankly at the windshield wiper doing its job to wipe the rainwater that was now drowning the road.

She sighed, breaking the awkward silence in the car, "I think we need to leave this place." She suggested.

He nodded and continued driving, but due to the poor weather, they needed to stop at a hotel.

Unfortunately for Latton, due to the severe weather, they only had one room available.

Latton’s face frowned in disappointment. Lucian felt that she didn’t want to be near him, then offered, “I could stay in the car. You take the room.” He says while handing her the key.

She’s about to agree with his offer when suddenly the rain becomes stronger, followed by thunder.

“I don’t think that it would be safe if you did that.” She muttered. “You've already seen every part of me. Who am I to act like a virgin now?” She mumbles while smiling bitterly.

Inside the room, while Latton was taking a shower. Lucian took one of the blankets and pillow and tried to make himself comfortable on the sofa, but due to his height, no matter how he tossed and turned, he couldn’t seem to find his comfortable side.

When Latton got out of the shower she marched to him. “You can’t sleep comfortably in there.” She commented.

He sat on the sofa and stared at her. He could feel his cock pulsing as if it had a mind of its own, and it was yelling to take her right then and there.

“I can sense that you are uncomfortable being with me.” He asks, then glances away, “It's because of what I said before, isn’t it? I said you are easy.” He mumbles.

She smirked, “For a person who shared me with someone, you seem to care a lot about my feelings.” She replied in annoyance.

He gasped, “Latton about that…” He lowered his head in guilt, “I didn’t share you with anyone. I hired that guy to scare you.” He mumbled in a soft voice.

“I know, that’s why you are still alive and well. If I hadn’t spoken to Zeke earlier, I'd be planning your death right now.” She warns.

He laughs, “I take full responsibility. I’m stupid. I acted recklessly, and I got annoyed by the flowers you sent.”

She was dumbfounded, and she slowly sat on the floor.

He knelt in front of her and held her hand, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done and said those things. You have the right to stalk me around and send me 500 bouquets. If you want, you can make it double or even triple. I’ll accept them all.” He explains while kissing her hands.

His words caught her attention. She slowly lifted her gaze to meet his, “Lucian, I only sent 3 bouquets to you. What are you talking about?” She remarks.

Lucian then explained all the things he thought she had done.

Her eyes widened in disbelief. “I never saw you in any of those restaurants, and I'm not that desperate,” she explained.

He slammed his fist on the floor, “It must be Shirley’s doing.” He mumbled.

She saw his knuckles turn red, and she could feel the pain and hatred in his eyes, “It’s not her.” She uttered in despair as she held his bruised hand.

He looked at her, “Then who?” He inquired.

“Xavier,” She said in a low voice that expressed disappointment.

Lucian then told her that a few days before she called her to his home, Xavier went to his office and gave him the idea of how to push her away.

She sighs deeply, “I’ll take care of him. This is a lot to process.” She mumbles in shock and distress.

He touches her face, “So it’s just a misunderstanding. We are okay now, right?” He inquired, his voice expressing hope.

She pushes his hand away, “I don’t know, Lucian. It seems like both of us have loose ends.” She responds with uncertainty.

He grabbed her shoulders and was about to retort, “But…”

She intervenes, “Two incomplete people can’t fix each other.” She mumbles in certitude.

She heaves profoundly, “How about we sleep this through? I’m small. I can sleep comfortably on the sofa. You take the bed.” She suggested while gesturing to him.

He wanted to retort, but he could sense she wouldn’t change her mind.

Both of them had difficulty sleeping that night. She could hear him tossing and turning in the bed, but she said nothing as the situation they were in was too difficult to comprehend in one night. Too many emotions could cloud their judgments and too many people meddling in their lives. Apart from that, both of them need to fix things. He needs to make sure Shirley won’t be a problem anymore, and she needs to go to Mexico to face Henri and the promise they made to each other.

After several hours of tossing, Lucian finally fell asleep.

The next day, he woke up around noon only to find Latton gone on the couch. He saw a letter.

~Need to do things. No need to wait for me.`

He smiles. “I will wait for you.”
