Chapter 99
Chapter 99
Owen
I stand in front of Ruby’s grave, which is decorated beautifully with roses. It has been fifty years since she left us. It was devastating, it's her death anniversary today. Basically, I almost come here everyday, it's where I feel at peace.
I'm sure she is with Damien now in another world. I envy him truly, immortality is just a curse. The only consolation I have is my three girls who are all grown now, they are all immortal and out and about living their lives. So, basically, I'm living all alone in this boring world. We merged our realms, but it was fun only when Ruby was with us. I don't want to complain though, we had the best lives together.
I sit beside her grave just reminiscing, my memories with her are what I cherish the most now. I miss her every single moment, I don't know how long it will take for me to accept that I don't have her anymore. I don't see her anymore in my dreams, and it upsets me so much.
I don't know how but I fall asleep leaning on the cross on her grave.
“Dude, wake up, it's about to rain.” A female voice wakes me up. I almost choke on my own saliva, seeing who is in front of me. My eyes almost pop out of my sockets, I'm dreaming... definitely dreaming.
“Whoa, you have gorgeous eyes dude.” She says, squatting next to me looking deep into my eyes. Her scent is a mixture of wild fruit and citric, her eyes, her hair, her facial expression; everything she is my Ruby. Her blue eyes and blonde hair confirm it all, even without makeup, she looks outstanding.
“Ruby.” I mutter under my breath. She looks at me confused.
“No dude I'm Lexy, I just wanted to tell you that it's almost raining you were sleeping here all alone so I had to wake you. I'll be on my way now.” She smiles, making my cold heart stop.
It's my Ruby, she doesn't recognize me, she looks the same as I first saw her. She is the younger version of her though. Am I dreaming? She stands and starts walking away, but I grab her gently pulling her towards me.
“Please don't leave me again Ruby.” I beg. She stares into my eyes, awaking all the feelings I had of her. My heart is beating so fast, my body shivering a bit. She doesn't say a word, she just continues staring at me. Her eyes are telling me something that I can't decipher. Unable to resist her, I pull her into my arms, sniffing her hair. “Please don't leave me again.” I beg again. If it is a dream, then I don't want to wake up from it.
“Please let me go, I'm not Ruby, I'm Lexy.” She says, pulling away from me. “I'm sorry I have to go home now. I have somewhere to be tomorrow morning, I also have something to search for before tomorrow morning.” She says, her voice is filled with sadness. It breaks my heart even more.
I notice that something is different about her, but why do I have the same pull when she keeps insisting she is Lexy.
“Can I take you home then, please? That's when I will be at ease.” I say, she nods. She is fearless. I can't believe it, after fifty years I get to see her again. Did her goddess bring her back for me?
We walk in silence towards my car, I open the door for her, and she hops in smiling. She gives me directions after I sit on the drive's seat. I'm elated because it's quite far I will get to spend some time with her. Plus, I will also know where she lives. My hands are itching to touch her, it took everything in me not to kiss her beautiful pink lips. I can't have her being scared of me, and I'm not going to let her go, either.
“Aren't you afraid of me?” I ask, trying to make conversation.
“Afraid? Not really.” She says looking outside the window.
“We met at the cemetery, I might be a ghost or something.” I say.
“No you aren't, you hugged me, and a ghost is smoky, I guess. Aren't you afraid of me.” She asks. I stop the car just to answer her.
“No, I'm not, I'm just glad I came here today and met you. I feel like it's a miracle.” She turns to look at me, her smile plastered on her lips. I can't stop myself, I want her so badly. I let go of the steering wheel, and slowly pull her towards me. I crush my lips on her hungrily on hers, her scent intoxicated me. She doesn't pull away, instead she kisses me back with the same vigor. Making little moaning sounds.
She is Ruby, even her kisses are the same.
She straddles me, deepening the kiss even more, her hands around my neck, her hips moving back and forth. My dk flinches in excitement.
If we don't stop now, I won' t be able to control myself. As if on cue, she pulls back, breathless.
“I don't know why I did that.” She says, her eyes full of lust, I want to rip her clothes apart and just explore each part of her body, but I stop myself. “I can't seem to resist you, stranger. Something is pulling me towards those gorgeous eyes.” I realize she doesn't even know my name.
“Will you have dinner with me, so I can get to know you more?” She asks, kissing my cheeks, I feel sparks all over my body. She is the first woman I've been close with like this ever since Ruby left us. She is bold, just like her.
“I would love to.” I say, my heart dancing with joy. I'm glad she didn't push me away. “I'm Owen, by the way.” I know we went way past introduction with the kiss but she has to know my name.
“I love your name, Owen.” She says getting off me. I hurriedly pick my jacket from the back seat and cover my dick which threatens to bulge out of my trousers. She smiles, her eyes not leaving my loins.
“No need to cover it up.” She chuckles, I feel a bit embarrassed.
We drive in silence for almost two hours before getting to the town. I wonder why she came all this way to the cemetery. I will ask her about it later.
“Pull up here, that's my favorite restaurant.” She says. "Will eat with me?" She asks.
"Definitely." We head in after parking the car. Have dinner while making small talk. I'm sad when the dinner ends.
What if this is the last day I see her again? What if it's just a dream, I want it to be true, I want her to be with me. My life has been one endless boring day repeating itself.
“We are here.” She announces, opening the car door. “Thank you for today.” She says.
“Can I walk you to your door, please?” I beg, I don't want to let her go.
I wait for her to invite me in when we get to her door. But instead without a word, she gets in and locks the door behind her.
I walk back to my car dejected, my heart is torn into a thousand pieces. How am I going to move on now that I've seen her. Was this some test? I enter my car, stay at the parking lot for sometime before igniting the engine.
Did I hear my name? I look outside the window and I see her running towards me. I stop the car and hurriedly get out to meet her.
"Lexy." She takes away my breathe literally.
"please don't go, It's you I've been waiting for Owen.” She says looking at me, her blue eyes are teary.
"What do you mean Lexy." I ask, I hope it's what I'm praying for.
"You are my mate Owen, I've looked for you for thirty years now." She says her tears now falling freely off her eyes.
"What, your mate how... thirty years." I ask feeling so confused is she immortal?
"Yes Owen, today I sensed you that's why I came to the cemetery. I couldn't believe that I've actually met you at last. But I couldn't tell you because I don't have much time here, Owen." She is already in my arms I didn't even notice when I embraced her. I haven't noticed the tears streaming down my cheeks as well.
"What do you mean you don't have time Lexy." I ask sniffling.
"I have to go back to the fairyland by tomorrow morning, if I don't go then my body will turn to dust. So you see Owen, that's why I didn't want to tell you." She says sobbing. Is this a punishment or what? How can I be given my mate back only for her to be taken away again?
"I know it's selfish of me to ask but, Will you come with me?" She asks looking down.
“I'll follow you anywhere, it's you I've been waiting for.” I say using my palm to pull her chin up. "I know its early to say this but I love you Lexy and I will do anything just to be with you. I will follow you to the ends of the earth if I have to." I say.
"Oh Owen thank you." She tip toes pecking my lips.
"You are my reward, Lexy." I deepen the kiss, she wraps her hands around my neck, I grab her legs and she wraps them around my waist.
"I need to know about Ruby though." She asks after she pulls away.
"It's a long story." I say.
"We have the whole night to ourselves." She winks. I walk towards the house with her in my arms. I suddenly remember Rowan, I hope he gets someone to spend his life with. I know how lonely it is to be alone.
I don’t know where I'm following her to tomorrow, but I don't care as long as I'm with her.
