Chapter 66
Ruby
Where is Arwin he isn’t here yet and the ceremony is about to start. I’m retouching my makeup as Rashel is helping Pearl in getting ready. Zama is already out somewhere, I bet she already found a handsome wolf and having the time of her life.
I love how gutsy she always is, I tried being like her but I couldn’t. The moment I kissed Arwin, I left a piece of my heart with him, now all I want is to be near him, and I cannot stop thinking about his lips at all. I cannot do no strings attached. I get attached too easily.
A soft knock on the door makes me come to my senses. But my whole body is screaming for him though.
“coming.” I say walking towards the door.
I slowly open the door, I gasp as I see Arwin staring back at me with his amazing ruby eyes. I can’t get enough of him, he is gorgeous.
“Arwin you are here.” The joy I’m feeling inside is unexplainable.
“Ruby.” He says in a low tone as he takes a deep breathe. “You look dashing.” He adds as he closes the distance between us and, without a warning, wraps his hands around me. I just close my eyes, allowing his warmth to wash over me.
“I missed you.” He whispers in my ears, causing a shiver down my spine. Even his breath is cool. I wonder why he makes me like this, I'm so attracted to him.
“I missed you too.” I reply reluctantly, getting off him. “I’m glad you arrived safely, thanks for coming.” I add trying to change my focus to something else. I really feel like kissing him again, though, having him looking this dashing is not helping.
“I couldn’t miss it for the world.” He smiles, getting inside the room and closing the door behind him.
He walks elegantly to the bed and takes a seat. My breath just comes in puffs as I watch how built he looks from behind. His clothes are hugging him in the right places, revealing his bulging muscles. I’m really going to be in trouble because I’m not going to help myself, I’m actually falling for him, for my teacher. Part of me is eager to explore my desires, but another part of me is so afraid of the outcome. I wish I had a wolf to discern if he is my mate, I don't know how this works for demons.
I hope he doesn’t do anything though, despite my yearning, I feel like doing things in haste will ruin everything, so I hold myself.
“When will the ceremony, begin?” he asks, yawning a little. He really must be tired.
“In a short while, we need to head to the woods, it’s a traditional ceremony so they held it there so that after they are crowned, they make their first run to the wilds with the rest of the pack.” Saying this makes me so jealous. I wish I had my wolf too, I would have enjoyed the rest of the night as well.
“Well, then let’s head there, I’m sure everyone is there by now.” He says getting up and leading the way, he opens the door for me, and closes it when I’m out.
The ceremony takes place under the full moon, the dais area is decorated with white stones around it, and between every stone, there is a yellow flower making it a pattern. There is a beautiful decorated fluffy area for them to sit In between the stones. It's just so beautiful it almost makes me cry.
The dais is in the middle and the pack members are surrounding it, from a distance, though. Damien and Pearl are seated with their heads down, while an elder is standing and chanting some words. One of the elders take a crown from the former alpha and places it on Damien’s head.
“I Damien Jaxon take this crown as a representation of being the Alpha of Ice moon pack. Putting my people first will be my slogan. So help me goddess.” He gulps the drink he is handed. Every pack member bow in respect. I see Pearl smiling widely as Damien gets up and hands her the whip staff, which symbolizes the role of the Luna.
Smiling Pearl raises the staff, swinging it in air before turning to face Alpha Damien. I really yearn for a mate especially today, it really concerns me, I'm now nineteen what will happen to me. I'm seated next to Zama and Arwin, I know Zama must be feeling like me right now. I find myself inwardly for the goddess to help me with a wolf and my mate. I feel so lonely and empty inside, atleast being with Arwin like this is helping me just a little.
I turn to look at him, I find him looking at me with a strange expression on his face. He smiles but it doesn't reach his eyes, he looks so sad it breaks my heart.
"Are you okay?" I ask him. He just nods and smiles some more.
"Now you are all welcome to join the Alpha and Luna on their first run." The elders announces.
"Oh Ruby I'm so sorry but I have to go on this run. I met this beta from our neighbouring pack and he said we should meet after this ceremony. I hope you will be okay, I just don't want to leave you alone." Zama says with remorse. I know she is sorry but I can't stop her from leaving.
"It's fine my friend just have fun and be careful and if you need any help I'm just one call away. Besides I have Arwin here to keep me company." I say but I wish inwardly that I would join everyone I the run.
"Arwin?" She asks in a surprised tone. That's when I realise I haven't introduced them yet.
"Yes, this here is Arwin the guy I told you about..." I say smiling.
"Oh, nice to meet you Arwin." She says holding his hand up for a handshake. He looks at for a while before reciprocating it. "I'm Zama." She adds, he just nods and let's go of her hand. By this time everyone is finding their spot to turn.
"Ruby, will you be alright alone." Rashel asks taking my hand. I didn't even notice she was already here.
"Of course, go have fun sis. where is mum and dad." I ask.
"They are joining too." She states.
"Oh alright go have fun. I will be okay." I smile giving her a brief hug before she turns on her heels. Zama has already left, I'm only left with Arwin, I'm just glad he is here with me. My night won't be so lonely.
