Chapter 7 pov
Elinra point of view
When he threatened he was going to kill me, my body shook at first, but suddenly it stopped. Instead, I wanted him to kill me. The betrayal my family gave me was enough for me to take my life myself.
I didn’t care. I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, even if it meant death. I couldn’t stand Kaelrix, or Versus whose eyes pierced through mine like he would devour me at any moment. When I told Kaelrix I wanted him to kill me, his golden eyes flickered with confusion, and I was still trying to understand why. If he wanted to end my life, he should just do it right now. I wasn’t sure I could stay on this earth even for one more second.
The fear I was feeling for Kaelrix disappeared. I wanted to die anyway, so why be scared of them? I even wanted to provoke any of them so they could kill me and I could finally be free.
I wanted to be free. I deserved happiness. My parents knew what was coming, and that was why they made Elara run away and made me the replacement. Well, I guess they are happy now because my life is finally ruined.
Kaelrix removed his hand from my jaw and leaned up, sliding his hands into his pockets, his eyes cold and deadly.
“Even if I want you to die, it will be a slow death,” he commanded, his voice final. With that, he left, and his brothers followed him.
Versus was about to exit, but he turned to me, grinning evilly, and I felt my skin crawl. My heart immediately began pounding. That look wasn’t a good thing. Versus was far more dangerous than I imagined. I laid back on the bed and covered myself with the sheet.
Hours passed. Days passed, and I was locked in the room, just me banging on the door, begging for them to open it. It felt like I was about to collapse.
No food, no water, just me choking on my spite. Was this the slow death he was talking about?
I dragged my lifeless body to the door and banged on it for the last time.
“Somebody get me out!” I screamed with the last strength in me, but no one replied. My lips were dry and cracked. My lungs felt like they were running out of air. I needed water.
I crawled back to the bed lifelessly, feeling dizzy, until I heard someone fumbling with keys outside the door. Filled with excitement, I managed to stand up. A maid walked inside.
She held a tray of food and water and a box alongside it. The aroma of the food filled the air, and I wanted to grab it right from her hands.
But she stepped closer and placed the food on the bed.
“Good day, ma’am. Please, you can have your food,” she said gently. Hastily, I opened the food and saw smoked saucy steak, and I immediately grabbed the fork and knife and started devouring it. I drank a lot of water and almost passed out.
After I was done with the food, I collapsed back on the bed.
“Ma’am, Alpha Kaelrix says once you are done eating, you are needed. So, let’s bathe you and get you dressed,” the maid said softly, her head down.
Hearing the name Kaelrix made my skin crawl. That name felt heavy in my ears. I knew he ordered for me to be locked up without food. Moon goddess, he was so evil.
“Where are we going?” I asked, confused.
“He didn’t mention, ma’am. He only ordered for you to come meet him, dressed in this,” she replied, tapping the fancy expensive box she was holding.
I frowned at the box in her hands. What was that?
“What’s in there?” I asked.
“It’s the dress Alpha Kaelrix wants you to wear,” she replied politely.
He had no right to tell me what to wear after starving and maltreating me for days. And I wouldn’t dress up for any man. They did not own my life. They had no right to own my life.
“Let me see,” I ordered, and she opened the box. I grabbed the cloth from inside, and I swear my jaw dropped when I saw the red gown.
This wasn’t just an ordinary gown. This was a gown used for seduction. The boobs would be exposed, and one side of my thigh was completely open.
The gown was so tight it would reveal every curve on my body.
Was he crazy?
I dropped the gown back into the box and smiled like a sick patient.
“I’m sorry, dear, but I can’t wear it. It’s too exposed and…”
Before I could finish my sentence, she fell to her knees, making my eyes widen in surprise.
“Ma’am, please. If you don’t wear it, he will have me beheaded. I have a little child I’m taking care of. I don’t want to die,” she pleaded, and my heart dropped.
Kaelrix point of view
Candice patrolled around the courtroom like a restless child. I knew he had something to say, but my eyes remained on the map I was reading.
“It’s been three days, Kaelrix. Do you want to kill her? No food or water?” Candice asked with panic and care in his voice. But it angered me, because I was the only one who had the right to panic.
“She said she wants to die,” I responded, and he slammed his forehead with his palm.
“Come on, Kaelrix. She didn’t mean that. She said it because she was hurt. You can’t just starve her. What if she dies?”
Yes, he was making a point. What if she died?
“She’s too sharp-mouthed. I can’t stand her,” Versus cut in.
I turned to one of my soldiers who stood close to me and ordered him to tell the maid to get her ready. She should give Elinra the box on my bed, and if Elinra didn’t wear it, the maid would be beheaded.
The soldier bowed and left.
